Well, actually, Five Nights at Freddy's is clearly going to have the dumber audience because the premise is inherently too simple and stupid and it's too popular and oversaturated in popular culture and the mascot is so one note and it's totally unrealistic and there's been too many entries and its lore is made up as it goes along and the audience constantly demands more and is downright evangelical in their love for it...wait...which franchise am I describing again?

The two franchises are ironically far more similar in terms of their cultural arc than any Terrifier fan is likely willing to admit. We're at probably 2017 of FNAF equivalence for Terrifier at this point and the HHN house is one more rung on the ladder.

This short comment really encapsulates why I really can't enjoy the movie. Terrifier, really, really upsets a number of women I know, all of whom have horror credentials as long or longer than myself and do not scare or offend particularly easily. And when that sort of thing happens, I tend to take special notice. Am I going to hate on anyone else for liking the movie? No. I personally made my own opinion on the movie without anyone else's input and it's in no way particularly bothersome to me; I simply find the trope of extreme violence visited by a supernatural slasher for no particularly good reason to be boring and unsatisfying.

But I also can't pretend I'm necessarily happy that the movie is coming to HHN as it makes horror less inclusive to people I care about.

The Freebird Rule doesn’t get used often enough. In modern wrestling history, The Wyatt Family and The New Day have definitely used it.

It is interesting that “The Wyatt Sicks” were announced as Tag Team Champions and not just the two who won the match.

However, it doesn’t seem like the rumored house will have much to do with championships or title defenses, though.

Exactly this. I grew up on horror, to this day I still try to watch a new/new to me horror movie every night, so to say I’ve seen some duds is an understatement, and I’ve given a fair shot by watching through all of those films, even the original anthology, and I can safely say that franchise has been among the worst I’ve personally ever seen. I’ve always loved the horror genre, despite how awful it’s been to my gender through the decades I’ve found my favorites in it, but these films have somehow managed to feel like they’re actively trying to punch down and, especially coupled with what we know of Damien Leone and his being problematic at best, I just can’t support it.

Horror is subjective and we’re all going to see it through our own unique lenses, for me I can’t see past how much that franchise seems to really hate women. For others they can appreciate the gore, and that’s great. Others can appreciate the comedy, and that’s great too. I can only speak for myself and what I see in those movies and, for me, it’s egregiously bad.

I was legitimately curious because, yeah, “The Wyatt Sicks” were the winners but the winners tweet only showed two of them. I know the Freebird rule is pretty arbitrary with stables, especially once belts are involved.

I think Jigsaw is a neat character, doesn’t mean I like the films.

Terrifier and FNAF are fun. Certainly better than Insidious, an event staple. I think the aggressive venom towards the two newer wildly successful properties might not suggest anything except that some of you are getting a little bit older lol.

I'm a little more sympathetic to the moralizing around Terrifier (only a little), but it's not lost on me that the two houses that have been the subject of the most controversy are the newest ones that are popular with the youngest fans. I'm sure everyone has good reasons for not liking what they don't like... and I'm also sure those reasons didn't arise in a vacuum. Nobody needs to be Freddy Fazbear's biggest fan to recognize that two of the biggest current horror properties deserve a spot at one of the biggest horror events.

Most of the people on the forums have clearly stated while they don't like the films, they look forward to what it can bring to HHN so?

There’s a lot of animosity towards both, sure. But it’s for wildly different reasons.

Olds are ornery about FNAF because it’s a franchise with a predominantly (as of 5-10 years ago) tween fanbase. The frustration isn’t about the structure or aesthetic of the franchise itself, and a lot of those same olds—if they were honest—are probably interested in seeing how Universal will pull it off. Universal has circled the themes and aesthetics of that franchise in the past, so it’s presence makes sense even while they shake their fists at those darn kids (and I’m in my forties, so I get it). The animosity is towards a fan base.

The animosity towards Terrifier is absolutely cross-generational because it’s about the franchise itself. A lot of people find the films unnecessarily graphic, gratuitous, and downright offensive. For those people, any appreciation for Art as a character is muted or eliminated by the perceived maliciousness in what he does (and films inadvertently celebrates). For many, it’s more horrific than the Saw or Hostel franchises. Universal featuring the franchise is perceived (rightly or wrongly, but rightly I personally think) as legitimizing that offensiveness as something to similarly celebrate.

Having grown up in the post-internet pop culture freeze, those 25 -- 45ish are not used to being "out of the zeitgeist." I'm sure if this was something like Minecraft Weekend, we'd get complaints about it not being BTTF and Ghostbusters.

Haven't seen Terrifier yet, so reticent to comment, but I do wonder if the gore complaints are actually a fig leaf to compensate for the above. I can't imagine the violence is any worse than the Saw series or Body Collectors houses, both a staple of HHN.

I personally think Universal featuring The Weekend at the event further legitimized people supporting boring musicians which I personally find more offensive than a fake clown with a bag of goodies creating an FX sizzle reel.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't think it has anything to do with that at all. My buddies who like Terrifier are a solid 10-15 years older than I am, or are right about at my age (29).

FNAF sure, you could make that argument, but I don't see a ton of hate for it coming to the event. As a matter of fact I've seen pretty ubiquitous praise and anticipation for it, all around (myself included. I was 18 when that first one came out, and I remember thinking the story and concept were really dang cool. I thoroughly enjoyed playing through the first 3). I've seen people worry about the type of "audience" it may bring in, but not the property in-and-of itself. I think it's probably in my top 5 houses that I'm looking forward to this year, and second favorite IP this year (Fallout takes the cake for #1).

I'm always down for fresh and new horror ideas. I personally prefer a more tame and interesting horror with well designed creatures and monsters than I do mature and violent horror. Stranger Things is still one of my top favorite franchises, although I know it get's a bit of hate for the same reason as FNAF (audience it brings in).

Terrifier is not that. It's gritty x-rated torture purely for torture sake. It's a tale as old as time and reminiscent of many older indie film projects in a similar vein. There was a crowd that was asking for a much more mature and gory HHN, and this house answers that without having to make the whole event that way.

I'm curious if keeping ROF+Ex is sort of just not adding a multi-night w/Ex ticket option and just encouraging out of towners who need something like this to visit in September and not October? I've attended both months and ROF days are not noticeably less busy than October, so not sure the thinking here?

We prob need to circle back to this conversation once you see it.

I think a majority 100% believes Terrifier belongs on HHN. They just don’t like the films or how excessive the violence can get. I’ve also seen older folks champion Terrifier as the counterweight to the “kid-friendly” Freddy’s.

My wife and I had our buddies over and we ordered pizza, had some beer, and watched the Minecraft movie. That movie was a blast. My 58 year old dad watched it alone one night when my mom was out. I genuinely think we are a bit beyond the stereotype of the "dang youngsters" generation. People of all ages just want to have fun.

I can't say I know the reasoning behind it, but I can say that I'm very happy about it. I'm hoping that next year the same thing happens and they don't actually put all of them on the chopping block. It's pretty nice to take off a couple of weeks and go hang down there and get your feel of the event, and have October freed up to try other things.

Dexter posted a picture on his Insta with him, Eric, and Gacey all holding the belts.

I’m guessing that they’ll switch out as needed

Probably just between those 3. I am not sure what Bo Dallas/Howdy’s health situation is anymore.
