It's a shame that the Death Eaters in Diagon Alley will likely never happen - it would be a nice draw and definitely would help spread crowds.

May not be the worst idea honestly. Those areas are close enough I could see it. It could give more breathing room in the end to both zones given how spread out it would be.

I would like that, the zone would theoretically cut off right before the trees

Somehow, I think we’ll get the Death Eaters, but it’ll take a very long time.

Death Eaters are clearly on the table for Halloween Horror Nights - they've done them out in Hollywood now. However, they'd likely need to be handled very carefully and would not resemble a traditional scare zone. My guess is they would make Knockturn Alley a one-way "zone" with Death Eaters along the route... but that could also complicate access to the store in there. You also probably couldn't advertise it, including on the maps, so guests would have to find it on their own. At that point, can you justify the expense?

I figured maybe they would be out in London instead of Diagon. That way they are technically in the event proper and leaves Diagon as a sort of respite from HHN like it is now.

I am once again, concerned for anything HP being tied in with HHN

Something to keep people a little later in IOA is one thing, Death Eaters at HHN is a whole other can of worms

Keep Potter away from HHN, it does it’s job during normal operating hours, and with Deatheaters at Islands there is no need.

Anyone else like when IP houses have subtitles? Like not a big deal by any means, but it just seemed to give them more character. Like how the Halloween 2 house was subtitled “Hell Comes To Haddonfield”. Or Saw: The Games of Jigsaw. Or of course 17’s entire lineup. Kind of feels like they do it less often now. Small, insignificant detail, yes. But I liked it.

Yes, I get they don’t do it now cause maybe it’s less confusing to GP and it’s not necessary. I still liked it.

Do you guys think we would be getting the pop up tent by MIB back? (I'm not looking forward to the walk we did for bugs this year again)

I'm not really sure, to be honest. The queue for Bugs didn't really help with the crowds from my experience and it was a lot harder to do that house multiple times in a row.

If they wanted to bump the house count to 11, they could use the MIB tent. I assumed for a while that they would revert back to using the MIB tent and the Shrek/VillainCon space, but I'm not sure at this point. I feel like having Blumhouse, especially considering that it's an IP, in the F&F queue really helped shift the crowds toward that area of the park.

Maybe I'm dumb - but I don't quite understand the pushback for throwing Death Eaters into Diagon. It could help pull more of the GP into that area and spread crowds.

I mean if you're in Diagon for Death Eaters, might as well pop into some shops, right? Maybe hop on Gringotts?

The draw for IOA will still be there with the actual Dark Arts show.

Not everyone wants to go to HHN. Not everyone will get “oh Potter is Halloween in both parks but this is the scary one”. The amount of guest questions and confusion is not worth it. Plus oscillating between kvetching over HHN being toned down then jumping to “what about Deatheaters!” is making my head spin.

Death eaters are in IOA with that show, that’s Potter Halloween. I don’t know why this is so complicated to understand.

This might get me cursed, but…

Picking up on the coat-tails of some users who earlier speculated on 5 Nights at Freddy’s and The Last Of Us… you know, if you had a Bioshock thing (zone/maze) they could easily market this event with an arcadetheme.

I’m not sure, though, if it’s too early for a Bioshock feature, considering Netflix claims it is “early” in the development process, but it does dance a question of “could this be based on the game with some Netflix tie-in, would the want to wait on this for a few years”…The synergy is interesting, AND to hop on the Music bandwagon, I think having a heavily video game-based year wold ABSOLUTELY get the attention of “new fans”. That would also be two Netflix houses…

Now, I have not a CLUE when Stranger Things season 5 is arriving, but an arcade theme fells so natural with the rest of the IP. Netflix may want to maintain the Stranger Things energy between seasons and hype the finale, right? They already do off-season marketing like “Stranger Things Day”, and Halloween time is a great excuse to make a release date announcement. Framing the event in a “game over” sort of way might even play into the “last season” idea in a clever way.

I know they’ve sorta went with the Tron Arcade zone before as the entry portal not so long ago, but something to this effect would play well with a theme like this. You could even, in the marketing, feature each house as an “arcade cabinet”, or maybe even spoof an N64 commercial that goes horribly wrong? Chucky at the end popping in to say something like “It’s game over, losers, HEHEHEHEHE” feels inevitable.

Finally… I think the hardest thing about unifying an event in this way might be Nintendo. Would they want to block houses like this from being associated with Nintendo? Perhaps they would want to get these houses in under the gun before Nintendo arrives permanently. I wonder if they would allow for a Metroid house, or a Zelda Dungeon house, or if the partnership is just not strong enough or the product knowledge isn’t there for either Nintendo or the house designers to make a final decision.

Anyway: Chucky as pseudo-icon, presenting “Game Over” with the Horrors of Stranger Things, The Last Of Us, and Five Nights at Freddy’s. Final Answer.

I like this, bring back arachade as a more fleshed out house and maybe all the Scarezones would be loosely connected like 31s.

The universal theme could be technology, Chucky, Five Nights, and The Last of us could carry that theme well.
Not sure about Stranger things though…

Same here, It’s one of those zones that have a lot of potential by taking inspirations from a lot of classic video games, and I even done a house idea inspired by it (PM me if you wanna see it).

I'd absolutely love to have a video game themed year, as much as it's not likely to ever happen.

Anarchade did a great job of setting the tone for 29 - and I think something similar could be retrofitted to fit a non-80s year.

(Or just bring back another 80s year, unpopular opinion)

One last thought: Wouldn’t it be very old-school Universal to do a Tron-inspired zone/event theme just as Light Cycle Run opens, like a big finger saying “we got ours done in a year”?

Wouldn’t be surprised if that were to happen at all, since Disney-jabbing is always a Universal thing to do like how Pepsi jabs at Coke on the TV commercials.

Literature wise, one thing I’ve noticed is the Call of Cthulhu will enter the public domain in a couple of years. It was published in 1928, and all releases have a 95 year copyright limit here in the US. Many of HP Lovecraft’s works are already in, but not all. Orlando’s A&D have said before they have always want to do a Cthulhu house. Lovecraft is one of those authors I could think of that should be represented at the event with his most notable work getting a haunt attraction treatment.

So with Legacy saying we shouldn’t expect an 11th house (which I for one am thankful if true, as it’s already painful trying to walk all that way to 10 houses a night, don’t need more knives in my feet thank you) I feel now is when they need to add an extra show or two even though they have honestly needed more shows for a long time now.
I’m also curious how much they’ll address Ops and scare zones. Have a feeling 2023 will pretty much be standard unfortunately.
