Just throwing this out there, but I've been loving how the tent house facades have been handled since 29. The way the facades are setup to essentially be a room that helps set up the theme and atmosphere and be entrance statements before the house proper is just interesting and fun to me.

It's funny how "tent houses" used to be considered the lesser houses

Not sure what year it finally flipped, but there was a noticeable change

I feel like it was 17/18

I'd agree. 16's weren't anything to write home about. 17's The Thing: Assimilation on the other hand.

I've seriously felt like the tent houses get a lot of love from the design team and honestly have been some of the most impressive houses to me. It's insane what they can do in those tents. Descendants this year blew me away.

Those have held all-timers like Scarecrow and Halloween. And personal favorites of mine, Hive and TCM (26).

The chances of an 11th house next year is very low. Just point blank. I wouldn’t expect or count on it.

The tents always get a good track record of the houses; I always love it that they’re small enough to incorporate the Claustrophobia elements for scenes, but feel big as the soundstages on the inside.

Perfectly describes why I love the tent houses. Claustrophobic yet can have big soundstage style scenes.

After a disappointing debut year (2006,) I'd argue that the Sprungs have just as good, if not better, track record of producing solid houses vs other locations at the event. Based on general consensus:

Sprung Hits
The Thing (17)
The Hallow (18)
Dead Exposure (18)
Catacombs (20)
Havoc (20)
The In-Between (21)
Nevermore (21)
Dollhouse of the Damned (24)
Halloween (24)
Insidious (25)
Tomb of the Ancients (26)
Scarecrow (27)
Dead Exposure (28)
Slaughter Sinema (28)
Wicked Growth (30)

Sprung 'Decents'
Psycho Path (16)
Jack's Funhouse (17)
Chucky (19)
La Llorona (23)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (26)
Hive (27)
Nightingales (29)
Puppet Theatre (30)
Descendants of Destruction (31)
Bugs (31)

Sprung Misses
The People Under the Stairs (16)
The Spawning (19)
Alice Cooper (22)
Penn & Teller (22)
Afterlife (23)
The Purge (25)
Depths of Fear (29)

I'd argue 2011's Nevermore was the first time the tents proved they could offer something equivalent in scope and variety of environments to what was found in the soundstages.

I was thinking about a Five Nights house today and I wonder if they'd consider going the Dead Exposure route with it

i.e. the only "lighting" is periodic flashing, perhaps from light sources in the venue

The scary thing about the game is the flashing from cam to cam and seeing stuff move ever so slightly

I've noticed with Hill House and Halloween this year that they are experimenting a bit with very very dark almost pitch black scenes again

You have an excellent point there. The animatronics are normally bathed in shadows and general darkness with your only real way of seeing them most of the time being a static-filled security camera.

The imagery those games have when using that to their advantage can actually have some rather nightmare inducing sights. Bonnie in the parts and service camera comes to mind. Or Freddy almost always being seen exclusively by his glowing eyes staring from the dark.

Ok they need to have moments of creepy animatronic eyes staring at you through the dark. Maybe one of those pitch black hallways they've loved doing as of late.

Seriously the creepiest parts of FNaF are things where you are not sure what you are seeing is real or not. Bonnie in the left hallway for instance.

The possibility for "fake out" scares with real and fake characters, plus strobes, is why I think this house could absolutely 100 percent work

One thing that has me curious is they have to know that Central Park is a major bottleneck area. So I guess what I'm wondering is if they know it is, why not just, I don't know, not have a scare zone there? Is do to not wanting to shrink the number down to 4?

This brings up an interesting point. Will they be done with the redo of Kidzone by then? If not, I'll be curious where the lines get re-routed.

It sounds like the KidZone replacement will open in 2024. So we'll have at least one year where the lines will have to be MAJORLY rerouted for the parade buildings.

My assumption: ET will not be open, and they'll use the ET queue as entrance for one of the parade buildings.

For the other parade building.. maybe put a portal next to Kwik E Mart or Cafe La Bamba (that one would be one hell of a walk though!).

Is it possible they could just build a path thru the construction? Like put up construction walls on each side of the path and keep it somewhat the same route as it usually is?

Everyone is talking about pop, rock, and metal representing the event, yet I didn’t notice anyone mentioning country music that also have some history with horror. “Ghost Riders In The Sky” is one of the most notable songs in the genre written by Stan Jones, and later covered by Johnny Cash. Something that is worth mentioning.

Very very fair point, and I must admit of not knowing anything about country at all. That's a good point, and I think some zones or houses 8n the past might have had some country songs if I remember correctly.

I’ll come out and say Im not in favor of more houses. As someone who doesn’t go as often as probably the majority of people that have posted in this thread so far, I just find the idea of an 11th house daunting…one more thing to worry about checking off.

I get that it would spread out crowds (assuming they don’t raise the attendance cap given the extra capacity an additional house would bring, which is unlikely IMO), but all you’re doing is re-allocating people without actually reducing wait times. Sure I may wait 40 minutes next year from Blumhouse instead of 80, but I’ll have to wait that 40 for the 11th house anyway (and waste time getting to it and walking through it).

10 is perfect from a content perspective in that the themes never feel repetitive and the costs never seem spread too thin. I like it where it is.

I definitely hope and pray for extra shows. I really wish we get more sitting shows.
Not only would shows be more entertaining than an 11 house, but it also gives you a chance to rest. It is nice to be able to relax and see a cool show. An 11th house could be cool but shows are better

A show is much better than a house with low staff For example. Easier to wait for.

That list is interesting. Kind of crazy on how houses fall where they do,
I gotta say that Texas chainsaw would be a hit for me, it was great. Puppet theater was really good. Excellent sets. Amazing use of space. I thought puppet theater was a big hit with fans?

But all the misses are correct :lol: Penn and teller is maybe the worst house of the entire list.

And seeing Psycho, would s house based on the Bates motel ever be possible?

I'm not sure if it would be possible just due to construction and needing to keep guests safe. To be honest who knows when construction will start? I see two possibilities, 1. Construction won’t start for awhile and we will be fine for now. 2. Potentially routing both the Tent queues through the area that bugs used last year and routing the parade buildings queue through the area that Descendants used.

what do you all think?

I mean I assume it would be possible, but it would largely depend on where they are with construction at that point. My guess is that they'll likely move the portals and we'll have to walk further (coming from someone with no inside info)

@thelondonwerecat - I can't quote your post on an edit, but KidZone closes in January so I'm thinking construction will be in full swing by next September! I think they could keep one entrance in that area and just use the ET queue, but the other portal would either be in Springfield or near La Bamba.

I'd assume they don't want to remove a zone. Imagine how pissed the general public/most of the fandom would be. It'd be a very "Disney" move imo

And as far as FNAF, a similar style to Dead Exposure would work really well I think. They could use deep hallways similar to what they use for bungee scares, just with animatronics at the end of the hallway staring. False jump scares such as a phone ringing or an arcade game kicking on could really build tension as well. Could be a good way to get around lack of scare actors!
