Good paint will last a while. The builder-grade stuff that went on our house didn't last long. But the Sherwin-Williams we repainted with still looks great, years later. We don't use pastels, however. :lmao:

Sherwin Williams Emerald Rain Refresh for the win. Spend the extra $25/gallon. Labor is the same.

I drive from Frisco to Prosper several times per week to hit up my favorite coffee shop, and this route has me driving past the resort on the Dallas North Tollway. I've observed that things have really ramped up the past month and IPs are noticeable from a distance.

A few notes I observed today.
- The 'UNIVERSAL' sign is actually hard to read in person from a distance.
- Signs are up in the Jurassic World section. What I thought was going to be a Jurassic World discovery center has now been labeled 'Jurassic World Canteen'. I'm guessing the main building in the land is just a restaurant. The other building has been labeled as an 'Outfitters'.
- The play towers in Jurassic World are MUCH bigger than I anticipated. The entire structure is quite bulky and substantial. I like it.
- Shrek's hut is now up, but it is very difficult to look into Shrek's Swamp outside the park.

Great shots! We must've just missed each other! Did you see Hair in the Clouds testing? I'm posting a video in a bit.

TrollsFest’s Hair in the Clouds was ride testing today. A video is out there showcasing my inability to keep my 200mm lens steady in 40mph gusts.

The Hair in the Clouds sign is in the staging lot. It's actually been there a while, but it's becoming more visible as stuff is moved inside the park.

Guessing a ticket and opening date announcement is just days away - 3 weeks max.

So final guesses on price and opening date?

I’m going with $79 for one day, $99 for two day and $199/$249 for APs.

Last week of April for media/staff and first week of May for park open.

Pretty much aligned with this - on par with Legoland. The 1 to 2 day ticket gap won't be dramatic as they would like to incentive hotel stays.

First of week of June (schools out) has to be the goal.

Another point is how soon Universal can convince schools to come in for a field trip next school year. I'd imagine they would reach out to local counties to coordinate.

I think they’ll want to finish the video and post series they’re doing on social before announcing an opening date. For the videos, they just have Minions and Isle of Curiosity/hotel left, and they have posts about Trolls, Minions, and Puss on Boots to go. I’m guessing ~2 weeks till we hear!

Schools in this area mostly are out by Memorial Day since we start school mid August. I think a Memorial Day weekend opening would be the best target, but I’m not sure they will be complete by then.

Agreed on pricing! Even the Peppa Pig park is like $40-50 and I think this will come in above that. I hope to see AP discounts for locals!

There’s a job posting up for Guest Programs and Events that mentions “…resort-wide programs and events and the execution of small to large Guest celebrations and youth school and group visits” so I do think they’ll target schools. However, at least in my experience, schools here (for core classes) want their field trips to be educational, like the zoo or the aquarium. I’m not sure how UKR is going to manage that but maybe they can say Jurassic World is educational about dinos lol.

I doubt it as the only APs will be locals. Likely just a tiny handful from Oklahoma.

Lots of possibilities. Animation, for one. Another would be similar to the Khan academy and Disney world which have “imagineering in a box” at Magic Kingdom where they go over math, physics and engineering.

They would obviously need to scale whatever they do down to elementary ages, but plenty of opportunities for something like that.

At least in Florida, schools flood the parks each year. Usually as a celebratory visit for graduation (5th grate, 8th grade, etc.), post-exam season, etc.

Ah well, a girl can dream! I’ll be buying one either way

“Imagineering in a box” sounds really cool, I would have loved that as a kid. Anything STEM will certainly attract schools.

What a fun field trip! We had 5th grade and middle school “celebration” trips that were to Six Flags over Tx. This is certainly a more kid-friendly option for that type of thing!
