Oh and I guess I should talk about my experience with the interactive wand. Bought voldemorts wand because it looks awesome. I personally had a blast with it, going from window to window, looking for all the secrets was all great fun and I'll definitely bring back my wand to do it again.....however there were some big flaws with the system. It is going to take a couple tries to make each thing work, the trick is to do it subtle instead of large and slow. It can get pretty frustrating especially if there are a crowd of children behind you waiting for your turn as you look like a dumbass failing for a minute or two. I saw many tourists downright give up at some effects witch was sad. Another fatal flaw is that this has sorcerers syndrome, as in you can easily see the effect go off (if there is any sort of line) before you get a chance to go spoiling the surprise. That was a giant bummer in some cases. Other than those though this is something disney should be looking into, the real way to add an awesome interactive element into a land. A way to award exploration of the land and forcing you to enjoy the hidden goodies it serves. Now if only they added areas around the two parks to use them outside of potter land

Thank you Cole for your review of the interactive wand and the Hogwarts Express. Even more excited to ride the train now, and you've sold me on the interactive wand! Even though it will have no use when I get back to Australia, I don't think they are that much more expensive for the added fun!

Great review Cole. Because sensors have to connect with your wand, it won't take much to give each want their own unique "address" per say and let the show system keep track of every effect you've done. After you finish all of them, you can claim a exclusive WWoHP item that can't be just bought. That would encourage the wand owners to explore BOTH areas, driving them by merchandising hubs adding a greater chance to have them relinquish more $$$. Its a win win for Universal at only pennies of the cost for a software upgrade. **sigh**

I don't think it would be that simple. The camera pick up the tips of the want but I don't believe there is an active feedback between the two.

You may be underestimating the cost of a programmer haha...

I would love to see an interactive 'game' implemented sometime

Correct, the wands have a simple IR reflective tip, there's no way to distinguish between them.

The current interactive wands cant do it but they can start releasing like a wand 2.0 that has a unique ID in it

Shouldn't really cost all that much more depending on which direction they wanted to go. They could just add in a NFC chip for ID and some other functionality or go a different route, blutooth, IR based ID, etc.

What kind of programming you do prince?

There would be a upfront capital investment but it would be minor. Manufacturing would probally cost the same. Heck they'll make it back because them people would want that wand. Wands will become the new iPhone. You just got to have the Lastest and greatest. Lol. Plus who wouldnt want to attempt to get a special edition wwohp item. Heck Id program it for free for them. Lol

Very cool, I'll have to talk to you one day about how I can hook up some network based actuators to turn up and down my pool valves and hopefully one day automatically add acid for me :-P
I'll handle the integration into my SmartThings hub.

Finally, a Harry Potter - Diagon Alley ad just ran on CBS for the first time in a long time. All Potter theme music. They are probably beckoning the summer crowd.

yes. I merely regard a Diagon only commercial as supporting our thought that Diagon is the big attraction for 2015. That is all.
