If it does go in that spot, it would probably take out MiB as well. That's enough room for a show and an attraction.

There's overlap, but I don't think you can fully lump them together.

I love THE WIZARD OF OZ (film), but WICKED isn't really my thing, and I know I'm not the only one in that regard.

So partner with MGM for rights to the original film as well and build a best of both worlds ;)

Emerald City fits the lineup. Hollywood, San Francisco, New York, London

WICKED was a huge hit in the U.S., but only did so-so box office internationally. If the second film improves there, it would be easier to justify a full land. If it hits the same relative marks, a single attraction might be the more logical play for a property that hasn't demonstrated the same fervor globally as domestically.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. It did play well in the United Kingdom though, so if they're thinking about developing something for Universal Great Britain... it wouldn't surprise me to see something show up in the domestic parks. We'll see. I know there's a lot of data I don't have access to that's informing these decisions, so I don't feel all that confident calling anything one way or another.

Speaking of the eventual future...

Where would Universal move the All Hallows Boutique too? Seems like they want a Halloween/Monsters presence at each park merch-wise. Replace the Ocean Trader Market at Port of Entry?

Trader Market seems great for a small tiki bar, IMO. I'd be OK with All Hallows retiring when the time comes for LC's demise.

Agree 100% - that space is begging for some kinetic energy with a bar and (ideally) some form of live music.

The Backwater Bar just doesn't work anymore unfortunately.

I know people loved the Backwater Bar when it had its happy hour, but I never really got the appeal. It's tiny and kind of an afterthought. Would love an outdoor bar that can better take advantage of the Port of Entry's rich atmosphere.

Went in there twice over the years. Kind of a boring space. There's better alternatives in the park. Outdoors is always cool because you can people watch and enjoy the ambiance/sights.

Do we think there's enough overlap between theme park goers and Wicked fans? Feels like putting it in Lost Continent is a massive decision, given we don't know the potential of it in a theme park (or any similar IP in a theme park).

Gotta think Universal will want to expand Super Nintendo into IoA or USF down the road, right? Whether that's Zelda or another property

We do. There was a Land of Oz area in Universal Studios Japan. It ended up being replaced.

I’m of the mind that Wicked is absolutely going to come to the parks in some way, but I pray it’s in IOA at LC or in Epic. Even better, put it in TL since that is easily the most outdated area and has two rides that are essentially seasonal. That way you don’t have two fantasy properties and castle like structures near each other.

Not to think too far ahead, but, Zelda could in theory take over Toon Lagoon as well. I don’t see that area being here for forever.

What if Nolan’s The Odyssey does insane numbers and it can get some type of attraction?! Maybe where Fear Factor is. I just hate losing that Greek Mythology theme.

Nothing started here yet. I remember predicting that when PF closed due to hurricane damage related issues, but hoping I was wrong. And a long deserted theater to boot. All that optimism many posters were expecting with a quick turnaround has essentially vanished. Such a beautiful part of IOA, but now nearly abandoned except for Mythos and the small village stands. Every now and then they throw a small M&G in for a couple weeks. It would be cool if they would do a nice entertaining street show, in the interim, on the beautiful PF temple grounds. Looking like this area is really on the development back burner after all those Zelda is coming soon projections/hopes stalled.

Like I said, I’d love to see something go in with a similar aesthetic.

I feel the company is truly 1: spending everything they can at Epic Universe. So naturally resources are limited. So much is going into that park alone. 2: they’re probably awaiting to see Epic Universe response, especially with Nintendo. If reception is great, or poor, that will affect decision makings for the rest of the resort moving forward.

I really hope by this time next year, rumors are flying for Simpsons plot, and LC.

There's an essential problem with that plan, if that's indeed what's happening. Epic does great, so there's lots of money for expansion at the other parks. Or, Epic under delivers and there's no extra money for Studios/IOA new attractions......Well, in that second scenario, IOA & Studios would continue a downward trend since their weaknesses aren't addressed........A good business will be ready to address both IOA, and especially Studios, 'as soon as' the construction crews are done at Epic. Universal is already throwing money at Vegas and Texas in experimental ventures that may, or may not, turn out to be profitable. They're either all in for Orlando or not. With the money invested, there's really no choice but to go full steam ahead....right now.
