Zelda isn’t a strong enough IP in my opinion.

I agree. I think the original concept is fun, but Pokemon & Wicked are two major IPs that need to be prioritized.

I'm not saying Zelda shouldn't be represented in the parks, but USF and IOA will need substantial investments. Zelda isn't at the same level as Pokemon & Wicked from a merchandising/global level.

Not to think too far ahead, but, Zelda could in theory take over Toon Lagoon as well. I don’t see that area being here for forever.

Reading through some of these rumors and comments. Wondering if it makes more sense to move things around.

What if:

Pokemon replaces LC

Zelda becomes the first expansion of Epic

Wicked replaces Simpsons

But what about Weegee?

Wicked whether at Simpsons or LC would bring something the resort doesn’t have. Something that targets girls of all ages. The IP could bring in a whole new source of revenue, princess revenue. I personally think it makes more sense at Studios but again the source of revenue for Wicked would vastly outweigh anything Zelda could bring to LC.

They could do an expansion to Nintendo like they did Dreamworks land at Studios with multiple IPs. Have a Zelda section with Deku tree, village shops and maybe a dungeon entrance with another portal that goes into an indoor Luigi’s mansion section. That’d be cool.

Good point. Not only added admissions but a 'huge' girls merchandise potential, elevating demand with a new land.

Wicked being bigger than Zelda is some crazy recency bias.

Not if you include the hype of Wizard of Oz as a whole.

Might not be Wicked either! It might be some IP that doesn’t even exist yet.

Fwiw I’d rather see a Zelda land than Wicked. I’ve been all in since Link to the Past. Ocarina of Time is my all time favorite game. That said, I think Wicked would make them more on the bottom line than Zelda and it hurts to say it.

I just think that Comcast is looking down the timeline and figuring out which IP has the brighter future and remain relevant.

Wicked will have an additional film and likely spin offs and anything else they can come up with.

It's also an in-house IP with very little need for approvals from a 3rd party.

Not saying Zelda should be casted aside, but Wicked is certainly providing an alternative to what should be prioritized at the parks.

I still feel that Wicked belongs at Epic and not at USF or IoA tbh. Can you imagine how pretty the portal would be ? It would be so cool. Just keep the other Nintendo IPs (Pokémon and Zelda) for USF and IOA. Those parks are going to need huge new attractions after Epic opens and they fit the bill.

I feel like I'm younger than you, but the way you use hype in this sentence makes me feel old.

I think it depends on how much Wicked or Zelda they're planning on doing. Are they doing a full land with an attraction, restaurant and show? A miniland with just a show and a meet and greet? Just an attraction? I imagine that decision will help inform the direction they go.

Any land fits better into the Epic Universe landscape, but IOA is in desperate need of family-friendly experiences like stage shows and dark rides. Wicked fits the bill.

I would argue Legend of Zelda fits the same bill too? It's a family friendly IP as well that is fit for shows/dark rides.

It does. I'm just thinking that Comcast might prefer to focus on an in-house IP over an IP they don't own.

My hope is that we get multiple projects.

I wonder if it's possible that they are contractually obligated to add more Nintendo every ## years? I believe that's how the Potter contract is structured.

I think WICKED, at least in the short-term, probably would have more potential to move merchandise than Zelda.

On the other hand, Zelda's rich video game history affords a lot of stuff (environments, characters, creatures) to easily pull from to create a variety of attractions.

There's overlap, but I don't think you can fully lump them together.

I love THE WIZARD OF OZ (film), but WICKED isn't really my thing, and I know I'm not the only one in that regard.

WICKED II's box office seems like a plausible indicator of how viable Universal might consider the property for theme park implementation scale (i.e. singular ride or full land).

WICKED was a huge hit in the U.S., but only did so-so box office internationally. If the second film improves there, it would be easier to justify a full land. If it hits the same relative marks, a single attraction might be the more logical play for a property that hasn't demonstrated the same fervor globally as domestically.
