M&G Toad hasn't been seen since sporadic one-off appearances in late 2025, and M&G Donkey Kong had limited slimmed-down offerings for the first quarter of 2026 and has recently been cut nearly completely. Mario and Luigi, and Princess Peach upstairs are the only two characters still available from opening day.

Word is that the majority of the Toad costumes have been broken since before Epic's opening day, and have only gotten to be more of an issue with time. And it seems like DK is having similar issues. There does not seem to be plans to bring these characters back in the short-term.

There were potentially conversations between UDX and Nintendo regarding retaining the Yoshi M&G from the Galaxy promotion as a short-term replacement for Toad / DK. Yoshi did stick around for a week or two longer than was advertised. But obviously, if those conversations ever did end up happening, we know the end result of those talks anyway. Yoshi is not available at Epic anymore either.

Yoshi not being a mainstay is pants on head stupid.

He's one of the most well known characters and would definitely be more of a draw than Toad, why the hell are they insistent on making him some limited event? It's Yoshi! He has a ride!

I agree completely. I really don't understand why he's not a permanent meet and greet. He's incredibly popular...I can't figure it out.

I'm not certain on the exact details myself. There are a very small number of Toad costume pieces though, so even if it was just a simple issue with how they were fabricated initially, or damage caused because of the way they were being worn/used early on, that'd be potentially enough to decommission them all.

The other mystery is how is there not a Bowser meet and greet, if anyone says scale issue, I would point out SSB clearly puts him about the size of Donkey Kong, just don’t have him out with the Plumbers and it won’t be an issue, or at the very least have a Bowser Jr meet and greet. Give the villains some love.

You don’t even have to use SSB. Within the Mario series itself his size varies, sometimes within a single game like Super Mario Odyssey. It’s widely accepted and I think somewhat confirmed that he can magically adjust his size.

As I mentioned in the Hollywood thread, Nintendo is so damn weird about how these characters are used.

Bowser is one of the only characters in history to appear in both Disney and Universal animation. How’s that for weird?

Absolutely zero chance we don’t see Zelda in some capacity whether it be a land, mini land, singular attraction or show etc. Link is coming, just a matter of where, when, and what level of budget they throw at it.

They could make a puppet like Xanthar in the D&D walkthrough at fan fest.

I wonder if there are issues with Nintendo causing repairs or updates to take longer than wanted.

I have no definite knowledge either way, but I find this possibility scary likely. They can be so needlessly obtuse and specific.

Also a reason why we're talking about DU and Wizarding expansions and Nintendo rumors have dried up.

We kinda had a finger on the pulse of Dark Universe and HP expansions months before Epic opened though. The “phase 2” was known more as a “when,” not a “what.” Nintendo was still in the “what” category. I think it’s likely the Nintendo was/is still in development (partially because Nintendo is picky though).

Fair, and to add on SNW is the most "finished" of the four lands so they don't have concepts ready to roll out.

I’d argue for its popularity, SNW needs more experiences.

With that said, you are right in that it’s the least pressing concern at Epic. DU needs expansion to draw more of the general public, and Potter needs more to relieve Battle.

They probably think Pokémon at IoA will be enough for the time being, and they’re probably right. I miss the days when the rumors said Nintendo was first to be expanded at Epic as well.

Most finished is definitely Berk imo. An E-Ticket coaster, show, and M&G; two spinner flats, a large family play area, boat water ride, and a ton of street entertainment, including both animatronics and walk-around performers, + seasonal Snoggletog decor? No other land has anything near that much going for it. There is a reason why we haven't heard a single potential lead on a Berk expansion. I doubt we see any development there for a long, long time.

SNW has a number of experiences on offer currently, but I'd argue still nothing near enough to match the crowd levels and high energy towards Nintendo at Epic. Part of that is an unfortunately consistent lack of capacity for basically any offering (Yoshi, Mine Cart Madness, the M&G queues, Bowser Jr are all strangely built to not be able to service many guests at one time), but I think an equal part is simple high demand. If people had access to a Nintendo play area, or a Luigi's Mansion, Zelda, additional DKC ride, I think any and all would be highly attended.

The issue then is getting any of that approved, and yeah, we're all basically in agreement that the DU and HP permits + Pokemon in IOA are good signs that that's not happening anytime soon. Not for lack of trying, I imagine.
