Well, for me at least, Universal has turned into its own visit. Its no longer feasible, or enjoyable, to try and do both during one stay. The only exception for us was a visit last year during Christmas week, but at that point our main goal was to see all the Christmas offerings and not necessary do all of the attractions.

I think it really depends on the length of your visit. 2 weeks is still more than enough to do both but once the new park opens, it’s going to change the whole dynamic. Especially for people visiting for a week.

We’ll already have Nintendo and DreamWorks, with Jurassic World, Fantastic Beasts, Classic Monsters, Illumination, and WaterWorld as other, cheaper possibilities. LOTR isn’t needed at this point in time.

However, it could work as an expansion land.....

I’ve been digging through TPU’s recent articles, and he’s been saying that there was going to be six lands since last November (when the Nintendo-not-in-KZ-anymore news broke. Funny how we all thought he was crazy when we first read the article).

He also said that Nintendo was the only non-Universal franchise represented on opening day, that he knows of. Wonder what that could mean for Potter/Fantastic Beasts? Jurassic World becomes even more likely. But he might have back-tracked on that in a recent article, and things could change at a moments notice.

He also alluded to the fact that Nintendo might get an expansion/change-up, which we all know at this point.

Again, this could all be false, but it’s the most solid info we have at this point in time.

Sorry just lost my train of thought for a minute, I don’t know why Lord of the Rings land is’nt a front runner for a fourth gate. I always thought it was popular enough to be created into a themed land. You know their was once a rumor of LOTR replacing Lost Continent I read an article from Screamscape but this was a while ago.

This is exactly my train of thought concerning LOTR. It has a massive draw that could sell tons of merch. Imagine a fully fleshed out land dedicated to the franchise. It would be a missed opportunity for Uni to just put FB or JW into the new park.

LOTR is a money maker and a merch seller... but not in the scale of Potter and for the asking price... it's not worth it.

Hot take, but HP is much more easy to dive into than LOTR...I'll be honest, I think the films are too long

Does this make me a bad citizen of Earth?

Half of us would be fine with it, half of us wouldn’t like it. At least, that’s from what I’ve seen.

Not sure, but with Amazon spending $1 Billion for a spin-off, it's probably easy to assume that the price is a lot.

Look if JP and HP weren’t already existing at the current parks I would totally be for putting the newer movies at the 4th gate. Otherwise I feel like we’re just replicating lands that could would better served as an expansion or overlay.

....you can’t really expand JP that much. The only thing that it can get is a small coaster. No dark-ride, no large coaster. The IP deserves better.

I’m not interested in it. Really not much different between the two.

There is starting to be a real risk of this park lacking an actual unique identity. I by all means want to see more Potter... but Jurassic World, Potter, depending on how Nintendo is sprinkled around... what actually makes this unique from IOA?

I guess a hub and spoke layout?

I'd rather another IOA than another Studio's. However it's starting to sound like IOA, the sequel, featuring the sequel (or prequel) lands.

I agree with most of your points but I don’t think we should start jumping to conclusions yet.

I love the LOTR books and films....

But the films are the superior product by a large margin. One of the few things (along with Jurassic Park) that I’d say the film is better than the book.

I mean...how much longer can we say DHS feels all that different from MK? Or Epcot? All the parks are becoming homogenized IP holding places.

I think this park will (hopefully) be at a WWOHP level throughout, making it universal’s highest quality part which could set it apart.
