I think it lives or dies by price, but Vegas is not a cheap place to operate entertainment. Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart next door starts at $54 and it’s an (arguably) family-friendly attraction with heavy advertising and a smaller footprint than UHU. The Vegas locals market for this is going to be teens/young adults — will they be able to afford it?

Per an article I just googled, it seems there was complaints about high prices and poor service.

I actually did the Goretorium. It was fine. A good maze, but nothing super memorable either. I think it may have had a very small bar and gift shop, but not much else. So I think a key difference for Unleashed will be the scope, and being a more complete experience.

As far as scareactors, I mentioned this once much, much earlier in the thread, but I did Ghostly Manor in Sandusky, a year round haunt near Cedar Point. And they only had two scareactors in the whole place, but they were able to move around and get you at multiple points, so it felt like a lot more. It was surprisingly effective.

But animatronic scares would have to be a given. Fright Walk at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Frankenstein's Castle at Indiana Beach basically have no live scareactors at all... but since you're basically in there alone, they can still be pretty effective.

I honestly think this will be priced like HHN. Anywhere between $70-130 depending on the day. If piece meal, each maze being around $20-30 depending on the day. Maybe some code will get you $17 per maze or $65-120 for the whole thing, but that's just being realistic considering it's Vegas. You'll be paying a full event price for half the amount of mazes, but no rides or shows. Every cocktail will be about $20-30. If we're lucky, admission will come with a free cocktail, because that's just how Vegas gets people in the door.

Vegas prices are insane and sometimes there's no rhyme or reason. I think that New York New York coaster is $25 for one ride and that thing is junk. Meanwhile, Adventuredome is $60 and that's essentially an entire "park." Nearby, you got the Spongebob ride which is $20. Do you know how much a Gondola ride at the Venetian is? Like $40 and those are insanely shorter than you think! The High Roller is $20 during the day, $30 at night, $54 for a front of the line pass. I don't even want to think about what an "unlimited pass" or "front of the line pass" for Horror Unleashed would be, because those variables always feel random.

I'm gonna take a crack and guess they'll put the ticket prices for Horror Unleashed around 55-105. I think one of the big problems that came with Roth's take on the concept was that of the pricepoint that was being offered compared to the content in place.

If they had 5 houses, I'd agree with @DTH in the price being around 70-130; but with the space as it is, lowballing it entices locals and tourists to make a dedicated stop towards the area of Area 15.

Maybe do two price points. All houses single visit, all houses unlimited. Both include entertainment offerings in center and access to food service upsells.

A near-$100 price point will no doubt be a hard sell, even with inflated Vegas prices. There’s just so much to do that isn’t at that price. I think casuals/GP will balk at that very quickly.

EDIT: I don’t think it’ll actually be that expensive, but I do think it’s going to be really hard for Universal to figure out the financials for this in the long-run.

65$-75$ depending on the day.
They will make so much money on food, drink, and merch alone.

This will do very well in Vegas.

I hope they have a VIP area planned, I think a good chunk of cash could come from high rollers and celebs looking for something darker.

Hopefully the animatronics would be closer to Monsters Unchained rather than the generic janky ones that populate Dark Harbor & LAHH..

Not sure if they would invest that type of money into something that isn't expected to run for the next 40 years lol. Which is why I think puppets would be the way to go. I am not sure about orlando but I know the quiet place house in hollywood had tons of puppets. Now, you could clearly see the puppeteers but still, it was effective. I would hope something more cleaner for this place. With puppets, you can still have that "gotcha" moment while not over exerting yourself. But nothing beats a scareactor.

I think one thing to consider in pricing, is that this is not on the strip. Vegas is super pricey. But that mostly applies to things on the strip. Once you get off of there, things tend to be not nearly as pricey. Most visitors don't like leaving the strip.

I’m surprised Chucky ain’t part of the initial IPs, I thought mega chucky would’ve found a new home. He’s definitely more popular than leather face, and could’ve been more effective in a more controlled haunted house rather than the conga line ones

Has anyone figured out which version of Scarecrow we would be getting?

Or, for that matter, which design team is working on this project?

I believe Orlando is spearheading this.

Keep Murdy away from this! Him and his black walls lol. Just keep him within arms reach for his connections. Creatively, what they do for Hollywood works for Hollywood. It will not translate well on a national level. . .

To Murdy's credit (and correct me if I'm wrong), a major part of the reason of all the black walls in Hollywood is that Hollywood doesn't get nearly the budget that Orlando does. As I recall, the Us maze in Hollywood had no black walls at all... so it can be done if we had the same money thrown at us.

And for all the faults of Hollywood this year, with the exception of Bloodlines, black walls were not nearly as much of an issue this year.

It won’t be a “version” we’ve seen previously. It will be custom designed to the space.

Well both these statements have made this a much more interesting project.
