I'm not a HP fan in the slightest, my wife has tried and tried. I've made her a deal if she watches all of Star Wars, I will watch Harry Potter so I should be up to date before I ride. You're one of the people who convinced me to stay at Cabana Bay, so that early entry to HP will be you're doing and I'm grateful.

And we share that. I'm not a HP fan of the books or movies. Didn't really know anything until the first visit to Hogsmeade in 2011. But I just love and am truly entertained with what Universal Creative has done with Hogsmeade and especially Diagon. You will be amazed at the attraction queues. They're actually better than most E ticket rides. We spent countless hours exploring Diagon, and to somewhat lesser extent, Hogsmeade. I would wager, that by the end of your holiday, your wife will have difficulty getting you to leave the HP areas. :)

Once I discovered they had real beer besides butterbeer, I had a great time in Mogsmeade.

To me; I have a list of IPs that I hope to see for when (Its all in the manner of time now) the Third Park opens; as I have a sneaking suspicion that they will gun for 2021 now, but may have to go early 2022 for construction reasons.

That said, I do have one thing to say about ST. I personally have a feeling that it just wouldn't work for a theme park. Granted, I am not that much of a Trek fan, but It just seems that its lost the time to do it to me. Unless they can have a really good success with Beyond and the upcoming CBS show (which..i still don't get that); I could see them passing on Trek.

That though; is my own personal opinion, as I hope they do well enough to get USO's attention, but it just doesn't seem to me that it'd be a win-win situation; like Potter, Marvel, and Nintendo.

A lot of that had to do with the location of the hotel/casino that wasn't near the major casino/tourist areas. The old location, location, location deal. :)

Wow, that's about as empty as I've ever seen Hogsmeade. Is that a FC team shirt?

To be fair, the closure wasn't meant to be perminate at the time. It was meant to be a way to relocate the attraction closer to main tourist area and retheme it to the new movies. It failed to open due to noncompliance with the attraction rights owner, in which he lost the rights to the property. The new attraction filings could mean CBS is moving forward with bringing it back themselves as they have expressed interest in doing so many time the last several years.

I can completely understand that view, however how realistic is it to expect every IP used in the new park to be has big Harry Potter, Marvel or Nintendo? The amount of heaving hitting IP's of that calibure are slowly diminishing. I would view Star Trek as a second tier IP, on par with say perhaps the Simpsons, which is to say it has enough brand awareness to appeal to the GP while still having a healthy fan base that would warrant its inclusion. It's the case of it being an appropriate IP to supplement and accentuate the heavy hitter IP's like Nintendo and Potter.

Alcohol. I'd think it'd be hard to pass up an IP that already has iconic drinks and drinking establishments. As a Star Trek fan of the old-ish school (watched TNG first run, but had already seen all of TOS in syndication), I don't even need a big ride. Give me ten forward (a bar), a full sized promenade with Quarks bar (a shopping mall and also a bar), and some other set recreations (starship bridges) and I'd be happy. A permanent convention space with stellar theming.

What I don't want is JJ Abrahms Star Trek.

Has there ever been any thought about reviving the ET movie franchise? I always thought that this would be the perfect time to do it with all the worldwide strife (climate change, etc) and how ET embodied the ideals of caring for the planet, acceptance of things different than us, etc. Anyway.......bring back Henry Thomas and Drew Barrymore with their children playing the new main roles. Special effects tech has advanced so much.......would be really cool to see a new ET story. Is Spiellberg against this idea? This would renew his beloved franchise and possibly allow Universal to create a new land in 3rd park based on this IP.

There's a 0.0 chance that'll happen as long as Spielberg is alive, if I'm willing to bet.

It's a Rangers top. It's never dawned on me how quiet it was. The rest of the photos it looks quite busy besides this one:

Del Toro didn't get dropped. He's the producer. He just doesn't have time to direct it.

Okay, this is gonna sound crazy... but if Disney is making an interactive Star Wars experience where it feels as if you're piloting the Millennium Falcon, I want Universal to one-up them and make an interactive Pacific Rim experience where it feels as if you're piloting a mech.

Probably......but he did drive Jaws, Indiana Jones and arguably Jurassic Park into the ground. I didn't think that anything was sacred with him (or Lucas). ET has been extremely underutilized by Universal IMO......it had timeless themes, a great storyline and one of the most recognizable characters in movie history. There's no doubt that it could be made into a franchise and definitely would sell plenty of merchandise.

Spielberg had no involvement with Jaws after the first film, and I'd hardly say one mediocre-to-bad movie after 20-ish years is "running Indiana Jones into the ground", especially considering how great the other three are.
