Bit late to post this, and not quite a full trip report so didn't want to make a thread, but I was at Epic last Sunday and that definitely seems like the day to go. Didn't have early entry or express.

-Arrived at 9:30am (park opened at 10) and queued for Berk with the intent to knock out Hiccup's, Werewolf and Monsters before our lunch reservation at 11:45. Hiccup's was delayed at opening, so we considered Ministry, but that was down as well. DK was posted at 35 minutes so we hightailed it over. Was posted 60 when we arrived, but we hopped in single rider and were off the ride about 30 minutes later.

-Went over to Werewolf which was already up to 35. You feel every minute you're in this queue (along with Hiccup's), which is why I wanted to knock these out when they were walk-ons, but alas. Took 35 minutes to ride and it was lunchtime.

-First time trying Blue Dragon and man, what a vibe in here. Got the Dragon Fried Rice and I'm no foodie, but it was pretty darn good.

-Next ride was Monsters, posted 15 IIRC but we walked right on with single rider (this is like my fifth visit - seen the preshow several times already)

-Hiccups eventually came back up and was posted at 40 for most of the day. Hit this next and waited slightly less than that.

-Stardust Racers had very low waits all day, think by early afternoon it had peaked at 25 but generally held 15-20. Essentially walked on this twice in a row (1-2 train wait), had some audio hiccups though :(

-Was planning on Cirque next but it was down, so I hit Monsters again with single rider. Ride got delayed for about 10 minutes due to a breakdown just as I was about to board, but no biggie.

-Cirque came back up so we hit that next. First time seeing it and it was decent, felt like it ended abruptly though. Could have used another five minutes or so to flesh it out more.

-Yoshi was down to 20 at this point (close to 5pm IIRC) so we did that, and then DK was posted somewhere around 60 I think - we hopped in standby and only waited about 35. DK did very well all day in terms of downtime as far as I could tell, was on the app constantly and never saw it delayed.

-Had dinner at Oak & Star which is maybe my favorite quick service in a theme park. Pulled pork, mango bread and mac n' cheese are all fantastic imo.

-At this point crowds were starting to thin, which I hadn't really experienced before (only stayed that late when I went the second day of previews) Hiccups was posted at 20 or 30 at this point and we only waited maybe 10. Awesome night ride as the first half takes you toward Celestial Park so you can see all the lights.

-Wait times were indeed cratering as Mario Kart was down to a pittance of 15 minutes at close to 8pm after holding 70+ most of the day. Ran over to SNW and rode that with little wait before and after the preshow.

-Side note, but it's probably clear from this post that I don't really stay in each land and rather crisscross the park to the rides I want to do based on waits. I can understand the complaints about having to walk across Celestial Park to get from one place to another, but honestly I don't find it a bother as long as it isn't super hot out and you aren't crossing the entire park. Dark Universe to Berk is rough, but SNW to Dark Universe, or Dark Universe to Ministry is easy peasy imo. Plus you get more of the Celestial Park vibes!

-Pretty late at this point, around 8pm IIRC, with Ministry posted at 40 minutes on the app. We walk over and the sign outside says 100, but was probably a glitch. No line until the stairs before load which was awesome to see.

-One more lap on Stardust about 8:30pm. Posted 25 but was a walk on to the lockers with only a slightly longer wait in the station area.

Total rides/shows, counting re-rides, was 14 for the day, and I could have easily hopped on Stardust and Monsters a few more times, and even Ministry again. Was walking out of the park close to 9pm I think, but they were open till 10. Skipped Carousel, Dragon Racer's Rally, Fyre Drill and Untrainable Dragon. Could have also lapped Hiccups a few more times if I wanted, doubt it had any wait at that point.

tl;dr - go to Epic on a Sunday that isn't around a holiday

YES. Sundays on a non Holiday week is the trick. Most especially after 5:30 PM, or so.

Hey guys, sorry for late! I just returned home from 5 day trip to Universal Orlando Resort. Luckily, I got to talk and discuss with numerous employees and creatives for a very long time, learning a lot from them and receiving confirmation of what we've been discussing. (Trust me, this will be big and it's from insider source)

There are four very important updates, but here is the first.

I got lucky and spotted New Year's show testing at Epic around late night on top of Helio, employees who were watching with me said that pyrotechnics will also be involved (ofc hh)

This was the most colorful and vivid programming of a helio fountain show so far and I'm very impressed with the potencial on future development of nighttime spectaculars with mappings.

Here are some clips I shot

It was ... fine, I guess. 5 minutes for NYE is pretty weak sauce in the Orlando fireworks game. The JW/RItz show went at least twice as long.

No wonder why. Monsters Unchained was clearly the most passionate project at epic. I felt creatives enthusiasm though out the experience. Not a perfect ride but definitely well deserves!

AV Club posted a hit piece on Epic Universe where they take issue with Epic's IP heavy theming. Near the end of the article, they try to compare SeaWorld in a favorable light to Epic because SeaWorld has rides that aren't based around IP. What a freaking joke!

In 2025, IP fully conquered the theme park

AV Club has unfortunately been pretty much clickbait dreck since the Gawker acquisition and has really only become worse since the Paste sale. I think it may be the Onion’s portrait of Dorian Grey because they used to be sister sites and The Onion has become great again post-spin off to Global Tetrahedron Inc.

I miss the old internet before these media empires came in to smash around like toddlers. The fact that there’s still smaller independent forums like this is frankly surprising given the rate of consolidation (buy a VIP membership)

Love the hand waving away of Celestial Park because it doesn’t fit their narrative.

Celebrated NYE at a friends' house pretty close to Seaworld. Maybe on video it doesn't appear very grand, but towering over the skyline from miles away, that Epic Universe finale with the countless shimmering golden fireworks raining down was incredible. Was shocked to hear that it was from Epic, it was such a huge spectacle that it felt way, way closer.

I’ve made that argument before and while I find the article pretty poorly done, I stand by that claim. I think Epic (for better or for worse) is 100% an IP park and I don’t really think Universal deserves any kudos for their central hub not focusing on a specific IP when generally, no central hubs ever do. I think it’s pretty clear that the median Epic visitor doesn’t see Celestial Park as a substantive land.

Stardust Racers and Constellation Carousel being shockingly not based on anything, is absolutely at least worth a mention. Especially being so front and center.

I mean yea it’s an IP park. Aren’t all Disney and Universal parks are now? I don’t see Disney building a hub with rides not based on an IP any time soon. (Even their new carousel at Animal Kingdom is going to feature Disney IPs. And that would’ve been a great opportunity to just make it tropical Americas animals themed.) The one hub they have at a castle park that actually has rides is in Shanghai, and even that one’s carousel is themed to Fantasia lol

I mean the guy has a point and does say Disney and Universal aren't building new theme park concepts, just reusing IP. But the article would have a better intended effect if they just removed Universal from it, as is pointed out in the article, this has been what Universal always did (with some small exceptions). The author should just say they don't like seeing the Rivers of America removed and replaced with Cars, no need to dilute the argument with pontificating about Celestial Park being like a mall (unlike Main Street USA, which was is totally not a mall at all, nope none whatsoever).

Exactly! I don’t see IP park as a pejorative, and I think Epic is strong because it leans so heavily into being an IP park. Though if you are really afraid of IP overreliance, then yeah, Epic is a horrible sign lol.

I think the difference between Main Street and CP is the salience of the theming/story. Main Street is, yeah, basically just a mall, but I doubt most people think that way when they walk through it.

With CP, I’m not really sure I’d know what CP is going for if I didn’t know the name or follow the development of the land. It feels so much like an Irvine Spectrum/The Grove-type place, even though I know it’s more than that.

I think this is a totally valid point, and I think it's a massive hole in Celestial Park's design. The hub is sprawling and empty, and opaque in terms of design purpose and lore.

I think a lot of the life that is felt through the other lands stems from the entertainment offerings seen throughout. Seeing Invisible Man, Bride, and Ygor doing their thing in different alleys of Darkmoor, or seeing Ruffnut and Tuffnut playing pranks in the middle of Berk add such incredible kinetics and energy to their lands. For the great amount of time you spend crossing Celestial Park, you will see almost nothing like that. At the very most, you'll see a live band on a stage playing Viva la Vida. It hardly adds to the thematic experience.

Main Street U.S.A. is immediately clockable. Mid-century American Town main street. It's right in the name. Compare Casey's Baseball Hotdogs and the Red Trolley Car to Celestiki and Stardust Racers, and it's not nearly as immediately obvious what these places are meant to be besides ... just a vaguely space-themed restaurant and coaster. I think the lore concept of Stardust Racers being the Grand Central Terminal of Celestial Park is an incredible idea that they should've leaned into way, way harder.

Why is there nothing across the vast expanse from the Chronos to Helios that tells any of the story of Celestial Park? Why is there nowhere to learn what any of this is meant to be, unless a TM who remembered their one day of theming orientation recites it verbally to you. Something simple like the Peoplemover voiceover would go a long way to making Celestial Park feel like an actual location with history, and that's why even though I'm unsure a train or transit system like that would be very useful in a park like this, I think there are a great number of reasons why it could be.
