Also, I recommend the 3rd or 4th gate on the left, next to a column that will provide shade for you 100 minute wait to get in.
I also wasn't even thinking disability. At least they don't allow Express for EPA.

I've been told by a TM at EPA that they will soon be revamping their EPA to be more, dare I say, equitable to all guest. To not allow experts to exploit it. That's all that was said. Nothing about specific parks, just in general. I'm guessing 1 ride per person per attraction. Which would suck for my 3 or 4 runs thru the Paddock in the morning. I asked if it would stop the Hagrid runs and not necessarily was the response.

Also, for now, Valet or Walking from Stella will give similar outcomes if arrival is by 8 am.

Wait, who is "exploiting" EPA?? If people are riding Velocicoaster 7x during EPA (my personal record), how is that exploiting vs. just making user of perk? EPA people are standing in the same line available to everyone else, so I'm confused how anyone views it as less equitable for people who have access to it.

Yeah, I don't get this either. I have a hard time buying this as a problem, let alone one worth the type of solutions it would require.

Equitable was my take, the vague conversation just was to allow everyone to get a benefit from EPA. Regardless of putting in the effort to be smart and get there early. I agree it's dumb, you can spend 10 minutes of research when spending thousands on a trip or deal with not doing so.

So for those who have been during AP previews - are they allowing guests to request to wait for the front row?

I think I remember reading that Stardust and maybe Hiccups had a dedicated line, but what about Mario Kart / Donkey Kong / Battle at the Ministry?

Most seating requests have been accommodated during guest previews from what I’ve seen. Although I haven paid attention on stardust.

I request front row on Stardust multiple times, usually with sort waits too. I also was allowed my back row requests as well. Just not close to closing as usual.

This EPA thing is confusing to me. How exactly is it not equitable already?

I should be able to roll into the park with five minutes left in EPA and still be first in line for Hagrid’s.

Confused, EPA gives you early access to certain experiences but does not guarantee speedy or immediate access.

EPA guests at Epic already receive a heck of an advantage over day guests with early access at SNW (worst posted wait-time attractions) and Stardust. They also have the advantage of waiting at the front of each portal, with everyone else waiting closer to the park entrance/SNW & HTTYD portal only.

Edit to add following downtime data:
  • Worst attraction for downtime at the moment (excl. Ministry) is Mine-Cart Madness at 20% downtime since AP preview.
  • Number 2 is Hiccup's WIng Gliders at 13%, Number 3 is Fyre Drill at 11%.

Major issue with Mine-Cart is that they begin operating the ride with less vehicles and add them over the course of the morning, similar to Hagrid. It's a relatively quick process (about 10-15 minutes each), but it seems like they're doing it quite often.

If you let people who arrived at 8:01am keep getting back in line for Velocicoaster, it's inflating the wait time for the people that arrive at 8:15, 8:25, 8:40, etc. Now you've got a clog that is going to cause a bigger backup when the rush of 9:01am normies floods into the park. It sounds like there's two competing thoughts: let people do what they want or impose limits on re-rides to force people to move on with their day.

Exploit is definitely not the right word. Equitable is closer to the right word but still not entirely on the nose. "Forced efficiency" might be a tad closer.

This is how lines work. If I get there at 7:00 for a front-of-the-line 9:00 rope drop, it means that I have sacrificed sleeping in, eating a leisurely breakfast, etc., and gotten by a barrier to entry that was put there for this reason. Everyone has the opportunity to do this, and every UOR hotel has EPA. And a lot of those are very inexpensive.

The reason FP+ did not work was that everyone got cut-the-line tickets (three of them!) for nothing. There needs to be a barrier to entry.

(Couldn't... resist... my thesis... FP thesis v1, and again... FP thesis v2). :lmao:

"Forced efficiency" is: get there at 7:00 if you want to ride it so much, and get a beer at 9:00. AM. Because you're on vacation and you put in the effort to do the thing. And you deserve it.

Also, I'll buy anyone a beer at Burger Digs who implements this plan (as it was meant to be). But... that was a trick - they don't open until 10:30!

Hog's Head beer on me at 9:00 AM sharp after Hagrid's!:cheers::cheers:

Yeah this has been a thing forever at all resorts, I don’t see how this is an issue beyond “I want to find an issue”. Like I got ERT on Steel Vengeance and Maverick when I stayed on site at CP and I could ride as many times as I wanted because THATS THE PERK.

I get your point of view, but that means there's one less person at another attraction you can experience. I also think the number of people re-riding attractions during EPA is quite minimal as those hotel guests are likely once in a x amount of year visitors that want to see other attractions.

I don’t understand. This sounds like the argument where people get mad at passholders riding rides cause that takes spots away from “normal” guests.

If you get in early you can do whatever is open early. What’s the issue

I'm more mad about the fact that these following weeks were still just AP previews, and now suddenly it's essentially a soft opening for anyone and everyone. And as you said, with this pricing, might as well just say the park is open.

It's also just such a slap in the face for all the APs (like myself) who bought a preview because, y'know, limited passholder previews with lower crowds? And what about people who bought a ticket for May 22nd, since that's grand opening day and originally going to be GP's first time entering the park? Are they still gonna even be doing anything special for it? Right now it really just feels like a big "screw you" to everyone.
