I don’t love the mobile park map. The pins are way too large and the map overemphasizes detail.

Studying park maps while in line reminds me of when I would read the cereal box during breakfast.

Seems we're getting comments indicating Potter and Monsters as the best new attractions in the park. And, perhaps Stardust Racers right after them. Sooo, of you who have sampled all three (taking into consideration that they are still adapting scenes)....which is the best Epic attraction? :)

I have to start by saying that I am not a big Harry Potter fan, but I have always enjoyed the areas UoR has created. I bring this up as it seems when I talked to folks that have told me Monster's is 'better', they seem to be HP fans that have an issue with the story.

Now, for me, something that is tough for me with UoR is the queues they create. When you talk about Gringotts, do you include the bank lobby? Kong's witch Dr, Velsocoaster, all the newer stuff?? I think I enjoy HP queues more than the rides themselves when thinking of IoA and USF.

Now I also feel I must bring up that I never had a ride through on Monster's when everything worked although I have seen it all working in pieces.

I put the Potter ride at the top. I have only been on once and everything worked on that one ride through. Maybe I was happy that I enjoyed the ride more than the queue where as my expectation (after having a few walkthrough of the queue) was that the ride could not out due tile world. Both rides have incredible animatronics, but I think the human types ones in Monsters are behind a counter or some set piece while Potter had some standing out in full view and I really thought it could be an actor in a custom. The way film and set pieces blend together....I dunno, everything seemed a new and fresh approach to me things taken to a level I have never seen, it just seemed more original than anything else I've seen before which is why I think it is at the top.

Monster's is incredible, if I include the two pre-shows as part of the ride, it might be on top. I love the chaos, the screen use, the animatronics, everything! But, a part of me feels like 'ah, I know have a monster's Forbidding Journey. In a lot of ways, Monster's is to FJ what Transformers is to Spiderman in a since that it is a v2. Maybe that takes a little away from me in that the approach to this ride feels a little familiar to experiences I have had before therefore not as 'new' or 'original' to me which is what is impacting my judgement or 'ranking'.

When it comes to Stardust. I guess it is fair to look at it in terms of Velocicoaster. I think I like JP's VC a little better, VC is relentless, it just keeps punching and then that roll over the lake is just such bliss to me. With Stardust, I feel it is more paced, maybe better at story telling as it has a nice drawn out 'flow' to it. SDR's certainly has the upper hand in that it has two tracks, it is so fun if you launch at the same time as the other track, it's atmosphere/views and onboard audio change at night (making it like four options to pick from).

The crazy thing (to me) is that I am pretty sure 'yellow' does not go upside down in the ways that 'green' does.....i know there is this corkscrew type fall that might go upside down, but I thought 'green' had me upside down at least twice.....so just the idea that my mind still has no clue what happens when I am on Stardust that I guess it is a good thing as I certainly escape whilst on the ride.....

This has hit me like a bus reading this. As I have most all the maps from the 90s and early 2000s of my visits of all/any parks, this absolutely sucks. Hell there's massive coffee table books of just Disney Parks maps (which is incredible by the way) - Not just for future nostalgia. A physical piece that will capture something of importance in theme park history, the initial look, feel, specific layouts and paths before future changes, the excitement of owning and seeing the first rendition of a park of this magnitude, even dining options that'll change over time. Video and photos can take place for parts of that sure - but it is the same way I feel towards movies/music and physical media. Just another "lost piece of art" for a phone app that will get updated the moment anything changes in the park - poof, gone for good. Sucks hard.

Yeah, it was a great way to have your own, personal record of a park's evolution.

And they also doubled as free souvenirs.

The art "style" used for the mobile maps is sterile and lacks charm.

I want an Epic Universe map done in this style:

If it’s only Nintendo that is open for EPA, wouldn’t you be at a disadvantage compared to the front gate?

I'd think you would have less people for EPA at Helios than the front gate right?

Has anyone did this yet? Used EPA from Helios while staying at a different hotel?

How long is it until the front gate lines die down? Common posts on social show the long line waiting to get in but would imagine they can clear it out quickly by like what 10:30am? 11am? 11:30am? I mean I am sure there will still be something but not the long lines going all the way down the parking lot. Just from what I have seen doesn't seem necessary to wait in that mess, can wait 30 minutes to an hour I think lol, and people posting waiting starting at like 8am or earlier. Just seems unnecessary?

So 10k cap currently versus theoretical park capacity in the low 40k’s? What are the capacities of the existing parks?

I've read that USF is around 40,000 and IOA in the thirties. Of course, short of HHN, and maybe a few holidays, USF rarely hits those figures.

Theoretically the UOR parks can fit a good 30-40K... but they don't see those often. They also can't operate the parks efficiently at those levels.

I expect Epic to slowly increase capacity over time as the attractions get more reliable. Expecting Epic to start off closer to 18-20K, and adjust as time goes on. This park isn't ready to handle large crowds yet.

I can tell you we saw quite a few 40k days when I worked there. Of course, its not all 40k at once (we were show what the expected attendance would be at the start of each day)

I would be completely fine if they wanted to start at 20k for the first year lol

I don’t think hitting capacity will be a major issue for Epic’s inaugural year, except the first few weeks.

and possibly Saturdays....The locals flock to Universal most every Saturday, so that's always a good day to stay away from Universal if you're looking for decent stand by lines.

Idk if this is due to the GP additions. This weekend was always a busy weekend and one of the few to sell out early.

Do you have any insight into the reliability of Thrill Data's estimated tickets available for the previews? We have tickets for Monday, but Wednesday/Thursday have more availability.
