They could do a lot of good with a little investment in Tomorrowland.

A replacement for Stitch, upgrading the blasters on Buzz, and electrifying/TRON-ing the Speedway would cost less than Tiana’s makeover and tremendously improve the quality of the land. Toss in some PeopleMover scenes if you’re feeling extra.

Space could close for a substantial overhaul after that, and then Tomorrowland’s set for another few decades.

For anyone who's just as curious as I was, this is apparently the current state of the two theaters:
  • Left theater is (for the most part) fully intact. Currently being used as a break room, and supposedly this side's Stitch animatronic was saved and sent to the Archives.

  • The right theater on the other hand is apparently a whole different story. Pretty much completely abandoned, pitch black, huge intake, and skinned Stitch may or may not still be sitting in the middle.

The right side of the building sounds literally horrifying. I would crap my pants if I walked around in there with a flash light and saw the bare ones Stitch AA.

So what is this replacement rumored to be?

Zero word on what the replacement could be, although the implication seems to be it'll reuse the same theater format.

And, being one of the five people who loved the show, Little Mermaid getting a revival along with the Lilo & Stitch live-action coming soon, a part of me is very naively hoping it could be a revival of SGE.

How do those rights work? Does the BBC/Doctor Who have licenses with any other theme park chain, and if not would Disney be interested in making an attraction based off of an IP that they don't own? It feels like we're a long way past where we were when Star Tours, Twilight Zone, and Alien got added to the Disney Parks.

I had never thought of it, but wow, yeah. That AE circle theatre does look a whole lot like the post-Ninth Doctor Tardis, huh? I saw the Doctor Who ads for Disney+, but don't really know how strong the ties are there yet. Seeing an actual official replica on Disneyland Property is pretty bonkers.

I think this is the first Stitch replacement idea that I can actually picture working on any level. It's an IP with some solid brand name recognition, it fits the small weird space really well, there are a ton of silly or weird alien species to work with if you wanted to make an alien bad guy that isn't as scary as AE, and you kinda just have to have the existing Doctor record some footage to play on the screens "saving" the guests and the stolen Tardis. That's a bop.

From the look of it the phonebox is outside the park. If it's in use for another theme park company it needs to stay outside like the wraps around busses and monorails (not the one that goes trough Epcot).

So this comes from Moth, who runs the Rumor Tracker over on WDWMagic, and they've just shared some interesting details they've heard:
  • Laugh Floor potentially on the chopping block for after Monstropolis opens.

  • Space Ranger Spin is being eyed for a retheme.

  • Assuming Romulus doesn't bomb, a familiar Alien might begin terrorizing Tomorrowland's theater-in-the-round.

  • Speedway is now on the chopping block due to Cars.

That sounds way, way too good to be true.

I'd love to see it, but I can't believe it. If (some) parents thought Alien Encounter was too much (and that one had comic relief!), bringing in the Xenomorph seems impossible to me.

The speedway is an actually one ride I couldn’t care less about.

I hope they get rid of it eventually but I’m not sure what they would replace it with ?

A meet and greet space. A picnic garden. Literally anything else would do.

Well this has been a batch of news and rumors for this week already, hasn't it?

So, it's no secret that Alien Encounter is one of my favorite attractions (and easily my favorite defunct attraction to this day), there's zero doubt that I would love to see this, and there's an interesting angle when it comes to the scariness. The attraction would finally be associated with something that is generally known for being scary, and that's to its benefit. I'll explain.

(As a preface, most of the general public don't pay attention to any warning signs etc. But there are a few things they can notice...)

When it came to Alien Encounter, those who got too scared can fall back on the excuse that they didn't know it was supposed to be scary. After all, it's not based off any property they know and if you looked at the sign the thing you see the most is "Alien Encounter", not the full name which had TERROR in it. (Yes, the preshow should've given them a hint it's not cute and cuddly, but once again to the blissfully unaware, they're not expecting something like this to have much bite.)

That leads to Stitch's Great Escape, where the audience actually had a leg to stand on with their complaints. It's a Stitch attraction, they thought it was going to be something fun, why the heck is this so scary for its target audience?! You can't blame the audience on this one, they see Stitch and think it's going to be perfectly fine for their kids. Meanwhile Disney was trying to make a kid-friendly show out of something where the core elements needed to make the show work are very unfriendly to kids, it was a piñata full of spiders scenario, which makes it entirely plausible that SGE got more complaints than Alien Encounter ever did during its lifetime.

Which brings us to the Alien franchise/Xenomorph, if they have an attraction with that IP, there's gonna' be a good chunk of the audience who'll immediately know this is supposed to be scary because of the IP, and from that association it'll be a lot easier for them to decide if it's for them or not. Yes, there'll still be the blissfully unaware who'll go on and/or take their kids, but when they complain it's too scary, it'll be met with a collective "What did you expect?" or "Why the heck did you take your kids on this?!". Effectively turning it into a "That's a you problem."

When you have a very well-known Horror/Scary IP attached to an attraction like this, it can do a rather nice job of naturally weeding folks out at first glance.

Can we finally talk about a potential Incredibles ground up ride if they get rid of the speedway. A ride based on that franchise seems well-overdue.

What IncrediCoaster isn't good enough for you?

Jokes aside, I actually wouldn't mind. Maybe it could be WDW's SCOOP ride like Avengers.

- Incredibles E-ticket on the Speedway plot.
- Space Mountain re-track (but no changing the layout!).
- New ALIEN experience in Stitch.
- Gut both Buzz and Laugh Floor for a longer dark ride (themed to... I don't know yet).
- Leave Carousel and PeopleMover (and TRON, obviously) alone, though if you want to craft a new final scene for Carousel, that's fine.

You then have the new best land in Magic Kingdom.
