It does look like Disney is strategically emphasizing certain projects for both coasts so they can tackle both Tomorrowland's at the same time.

For MK, fully building out the western side of the park will alleviate capacity concerns when you start shutting down and replacing attractions.
  • Cars will replace the interest in driving for kids, allowing the Speedway land to be utilized for Fantasyland/Tomorrowland projects.
  • Monsters, Inc. at DHS makes MILF repetitive. (I like this attraction, so I hope it's relocated to DHS though)
  • Adding a Villains coaster and a Cars (semi-thrill ride) will reduce capacity constraints from a Space Mountain closure.
For Disneyland, I think strategically they need to think through how they plan on using the Subs/Autopia land before expanding to the DL Forward land. It seems like they're emphasizing a build out of DCA first to give them time to figure out/finalize a concept for Tomorrowland. For DCA, it makes sense to expand across the street, but DL has a lot of room to play with in the eastern side of the park first.

Regarding timeline, Disney said everything announced will be opened within 5 years, making 2029 their deadline so we could see something major in Tomorrowland happen as early as 2030.

I like what @Alicia was saying on her podcast regarding Tomorrowland and that’s that everything happening now could essentially be a rearranging of sorts.

Let’s say they move Laugh Floor to DHS and close Speedway after Cars area opens, and Stitch is still empty, you’re almost looking at a blank slate to play with for the future of Tomorrowland aside from Tron, Space, and CoP. Huge opportunity to fix the land and essentially expand its ride count, while ALSO giving some modernization to CoP and Space Mountain.

It’s really too bad The Fantastic Four can’t be used here, but I guess The Incredibles aren’t a bad option with similar aesthetic as F4: First Steps.

So this comes from Moth, who runs the Rumor Tracker over on WDWMagic, and they've just shared some interesting details they've heard:
  • Laugh Floor potentially on the chopping block for after Monstropolis opens.

  • Space Ranger Spin is being eyed for a retheme.

  • Assuming Romulus doesn't bomb, a familiar Alien might begin terrorizing Tomorrowland's theater-in-the-round.

  • Speedway is now on the chopping block due to Cars.

If Alien Encounter can come back, I want Delta Dreamflight back. You know what, and Timekeeper while we’re at it.

In all seriousness though, would love to see a large futuristic play area replace speedway. WDW needs more and The Boneyard and Tom Sawyer were the best they had. Maybe theme it to Stitch or something. Throw in a flat or two since speedway is a lot of space. Make it something for little ones to do while big siblings ride Tron and Space Mountain (besides waiting in line an hour for Astro Orbiter).

I'm not going to provide specifics as to what IPs to choose , but removing Speedway provides an additional expansion area for Fantasyland. Ideally a higher-capacity Peter Pan's flight. I also think critical to MK's future is a necessary improvement to the bypass area for Main Street that is permanent. With a future night parade, it's critical they make it a better experience than what it currently is. 1723651156826.png

I'm always surprised by how freaking huge Magic Kingdom is in comparison to Disneyland. That extra 20-30 acres really makes a big difference.

I was thinking potentially a Alice dark ride, but moving building a new Peter Pan dark ride that’s even more advanced than SHDL’s and then that would open up the Pan slot for some other dark ride to fill it’s space.

Tangled is the obvious first thing that comes to mind since it’s near the Tangled restrooms.

Down the road If we want to access even more space for expansion, moving IASW to Epcot is an obvious way to go too that Disneyland doesn’t have as there’s quite a bit of land that’s inaccessible behind IASW that would be ripe for expansion.

An ambitious family dark ride (Elio? WALL-E?) replacing most of the Speedway, an Alien/Ripley themed Stitch replacement, Wreck-it Ralph replacing Buzz, Meet the Robinsons or WALL-E replacing Laugh Floor, PeopleMover upgrades (Kong 360-style tunnel in Space Mountain, maybe more easygoing depiction of a retro-futuristic city?), a CoP upgrade, and Space Mountain getting what Tokyo is about to get would be plenty for Magic Kingdom in the 2030s.

Supposedly Tokyo’s Space will essentially be Cosmic Rewind.

I thought we disproved that seeing construction. Wasnt it deemed to be Intamin and not Vekoma or am i misremembering?

Edit: Shanghai’s Spider-Man coaster will apparently be cosmic rewind trains though.

Idk, I never saw that, but it's Tokyo so it's not very like them to copy us Americans

WDW was never meant to be time capsule unlike Disneyland.

IF they bring Alien Encounter back and it has an actual Xenomorph in there I need to buy a ticket for Magic Kingdom and jump to Pay to Play hoops to ride it. That attraction was the best.

Not confirmed, but concept art suggest that and they are saying 2 major attractions. My guess is a coaster (just makes sense) and a dark ride for the family, yet thrilling in story in some capacity.

And yet Disneyland manages tp have 3X the attractions. I think working with so much space just made them lazy and figured it could be sprawling with enough trees no one would notice

Brought up on the Parkstop Podcast again haha, but I agree with them that a properly built-out and well done Character experience is probably the best (realistic) use of that weird nook that is Stitch/AE. Something at the level of Belle's Enchanted Tales would be really cool to see and would provide another unique show in place of Laugh Floor, if that goes. Maybe a rotating "teleporting a guest from across the stars" with a cool visual Portal effect to go along with it, with Stitch, Buzz, Mr. Incredible, etc.

Buzz needs to go, and I think utlizing the theatre space from Monsters is probably ideal for a larger and more impressive ride than what we currently have. Buzz just plain stinks, and is more than redundant at this point with TSM sharing the ride type and Swirling Saucers sharing the visual aesthetic. It's queue line is also the worst, at least right now where it's been split between LL and Stand-by, and Standby is left outside in the sun with a couple small umbrellas and some unthemed, temporary switchbacks installed.

I wish that stage in the middle of Tomorrowland saw better use. I recall their being issues with it logistically, but I can't recall specifics.

I get the limitations of space, but I'd love to see them try to do something more ambitious than a dressed-up meet-and-greet there.

Especially because we have seen they can create a great attraction in that building.

I’ll be real witcha all. Having seen all most of the attractions in the round at that building, (not the moon one,) they all kinda suck. Forcing yet another show into that space would just be another mistake. Now maybe if you combine the two theaters you could create something slightly better, but I doubt it.

I think there’s a reason the old Snow White dark ride became a meet and greet space when they built Mine Train. Or why the two tracks for Mr. Toad were combined to create Winnie the Pooh. Small og Fantasyland style dark rides, the small pretzel style carnival ride systems with low motion figures or flats, are just a thing of the past.

So I don’t think the Stitch theater is big enough for a ride. And I don’t even think Buzz is good enough for a new ride. The new default Fantasyland style dark ride size is more akin to Little Mermaid. So combining Buzz and MILF could make for a decent sized new dark ride experience along those lines. And creating storytelling meet and greet experience with cool special effects, like Enchanted Tales, and maybe multiple character experiences, like Fairytale Hall, could work for Stitch theater… but only if that cool ride comes too. Cause meet and greets being added isn’t that exciting on its own, but coupled with more attractions coming, like during New Fantasyland, could be a nice bonus.

And as I said on the podcast, I’d like to see some kid-friendly stuff replace Speedway. I’m sure they’d want it to be not very tall, so as to not block views of Tron, so some play spaces and flats could go a long way to adding more for the kiddies in a land with two roller coasters for their older siblings while they play.

Well, I think Alien Encounter was awesome. So there!

Combining Buzz and the Laugh Floor for a single new ride would be a positive change (pending the IP).

I'm extremely lukewarm on meet-and-greets (even more elaborate ones) taking up space that once housed actual attractions. I understand, on a conceptual level, the purpose they serve in a theme park's ecosystem... but I don't like losing potential attraction space.
