From what it seems from Costco. The APs are changing into Season Passes much like Knotts.

I took a few photos yesterday that didn't really fit in any particular topic, so I figure'd this would be the best place to post them. Here they are:

16628799222_8785ac7990_z.jpg

The chalkboard hanging next to the Universal Trading Co. now denotes the arrival of Springfield.

16009715393_71ebaf55bd_z.jpg

The Guest Relations display case now features raptor eggs and a camera bag featured in Jurassic Park III.

Selfie sticks (or, selfie poles, rather) are now being sold in the park for $30. Not quite sure how I feel about this yet.

16628329881_a8988b2352_z.jpg

A Jurassic World advertisement can now be seen hanging from the side of the Revenge of the Mummy show building. They also added a Pitch Perfect 2 poster in between the existing 50 Shades of Grey and Furious 7 posters.

1. Nice they are advertising Springfiled in-park...

2... That is awesome giving a nod to JP3 like this. They have Spino in lower lot, but impressive they put this prop in guest relations.

3. 'Selfie stick' translation: Making it even easier for us to take pics beyond their construction walls. :P

4. Just wow...that picture is epic. So much epic. Jurassic World is now less then 4 months and with the poster being placed there, I feel the anticipation.

To me, selling a selfie stick at a theme park is the equivalent of selling Justin Bieber CDs in a Hot Topic. Appealing to the lowest common denominator with your customers is only going to allow for more n00bishness inside your business.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: selfie sticks are going to have to be banned from theme parks. Every other guest you see at Disney has one, and many foolish tourists are using them while on attractions. Hard to believe, but guests riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and California Screamin' have thought it wise to utilize a long, metal pole to take pictures and videos while on the ride. I wish I were joking.

I didn't think I'd ever hate something more at theme parks, shows, and events than iPads.

And then came selfie sticks.....

Kaley and Christopher were at Universal to experience DIG: Escape the Room at the Globe Theater. If you're interested in solving the puzzle, you can signup at the park from February 28 to March 5.

I'm right in front of Escape the Room right now. Apparently the people I'm going to be with hardly speak English and have asked several times what this attraction is. "Is it scary? Is this a ride?" Yeah, I'm screwed.

That's probably the best thing i've ever heard lol.

Dig is fun. I wasn't sure what to expect but I left satisfied to say the least.

I did Dig yeaterday, and it turns out that group I was talking about earlier, after being told fifty times what it was, FINALLY realized what it was and went to Despicable Me. (Whew!) So I went in with a group of people who knew what they were getting into. Krusty the Clown looked at us and said, "Fine, they look clean. Come on in." We tried to get out but Sideshow Bob rigged the puzzles to make sure we would never leave. It was rough but we figured out how to get out about a day later, which is why I waited so long to post this.

Okay, that's not what happened. I got SUPER busy but I did go with a group that was able to communicate well. Here's what I thought of Dig...

Apparently I'm going to be in the minority when I say this, but I thought the experience was meh. I left feeling unsatisfied. The big reason for that was because I've done the Purge: Breakout and the Basement last year; both of which had FAR better production value and, while clock was ticking, created the uncomfortable premunution of, "Oh fudge, I'm going to DIE if I don't solve this!" In both cases, I felt completely emmersed in the settings established. Here in dig, there was none of that. While the puzzles were cleverly set up, there was no music and, worst of all, no ceiling. The TV screen showcasing the hints I thought was lame. That REALLY took me out of it. I felt like they could have been far more creative with that sort of getup. There was no mood and no high stakes established that would have really driven the experience.

Now I'm not bitter that I didn't make it. If I had made it, my review would be the same. You might comment on my review by saying, "C'mon Freak, the experience lasted less than a week. What do you expect?" Purge Breakout lasted longer, but that was a far better promotional attraction than what this offered. Nothing about it prompted me to want to watch the show. I don't think it would have killed them to at least add a cloth ceiling, some stock music, and a prerecorded narration giving hints or something. Just those three simple things would have done wonders. I felt like I was immersed more in an amatureish iPhone game than an actual escape room setting.

So yeah, that's my overall review of the experience. I guess for something that doesn't even last a week it...didn't work on me to promote the show. I feel like there was a lot to be improved. Again, this has a VERY short run so that's all moot by now. All of what I wrote was mery an opinion on what I thought about it and shouldn't be the "end all, be all" factor in checking this out. Apparently everyone else likes it, but I will bet its because they haven't done any escape rooms. I'd say its worth checking out to satisfy your curiosity, but if you live a ways from Uni, its not worth it. If you can, check out the Basement in Sylmar. MUCH better than this and its open year-round! Bottom line: if you haven't done any Escape Room attractions, you'll end up liking it. If you've done other ones, you'll probably leave unsatisfied.

At least I do have apin and a picture for the memory. :)

There's a tree missing from Production Central.  Plumbing issues?  Will they return or replace it?  Here's a comparison of Dec 20, 2014 and March 06, 2015.

Update, that missing tree that I report on March 07 is still missing.  Plywood covers the hole so I'm assuming it'll be replaced.

In other news, the cool zones are back and very welcome.  On yet another topic, the painted pavement in front of Simpsons Ride is really revitalizing that area.  It's making me notice how bad some other areas are, specifically the main entrance around the fountain.  Do you think that area (and others) will get touched up in the near future?

I would imagine (and hope) so. If I'm not mistaken, they've repaved the Lower Lot, Universal Plaza's surroundings, and Simpsons Plaza within the last year. I feel like they've repaved the main entrance path just beyond the fountain, but I can't be certain. Anyone else know?

Small change to the Annual Pass page on the website.

Like Disneyland, Universal now lists the number of available days with each annual pass level.
