But a largely closed down Lost Continent is
a huge empty hole in the park with only a restaurant and a few insignificant shops/kiosks.

Can’t say I really feel it. Not like the wasteland of Toon Lagoon Theatre or San Fran or Springfield.

Pokemon has probably been in development hell for a while now, maybe they can fast track it to LC and then leave Wicked for Springfield.

Was it? What if extra development time was necessary because location changed and, unlike SNW, the design needed alterations to fit in the new space?

Man, you guys are making it seem like Pokemon is going here for sure and I don't think I like the prospect of that. This is a monster of an IP and deserves way more than 5-6 acres to be done right. LC also leaves zero expansion room anywhere around it.

It wouldn’t be the first time rumors seemed certain about specific locations only for things to get swapped around when it was time to get going.

replacing two bad attractions is a great start for the studios park. but it’s gotta just be a start.

Reasonably I think it’s fair to say Universal only has three classic attractions left at Studios: Mummy, MIB and ET. And as far as we know, those are all safe for a long time forward.

The problem is that a Fast and Furious coaster and whatever they do with the corpse of Supercharged aren’t going to fill all the holes they poked in that park over the last decade or so.

Fallon isn’t great and frankly Minion Blast is embarrassing. San Fran in its entirety needs a redo, and Diagon is overdue for a new addition (but really, where else can you go with Potter?).

Springfield is a when and not if, and the neighboring Animal Actors has to be used for something eventually. Dreamworks Land had potential to be something really neat, but even that feels so underbaked and hollow due to the pre-Epic cuts. Hollywood thankfully remains pretty unscathed- hopefully Bourne is updated to something more timeless eventually, but it’s not that pressing.

You just can’t compare Lost Continent’s tiny two minute walk through to the massive emptiness that is USF currently. LC is prime space, I’m glad they’re doing something with it. People are just so desperate for something groundbreaking and innovative to come to the home park again. I’m not convinced the F&F coaster will do that, and who knows what they’ll do with the Supercharged space.

Gringotts has its fans, but to a lot of people the last truly great ride built there was Mummy two decades ago. Studios needs immense help. The sad part is I think Universal knows it- all the merch and branding for the park is just reminding you of all the cool stuff that isn’t there anymore.

I question how many people, outside of a Universal Parks specific forum, remember Waterworld? And how many are willing to carve out time in their day to see it more than once?
Isn’t the Toon Lagoon theater used for dance competitions, etc? I’d guess that makes Universal enough money to not care.
