The Arctic isn't impossible, it would just be such a freaking chore to take care of. All that's in the Arctic is snow. You know how much white paint that is? A lot. The upkeep for keeping the ice white would be ridiculous.

So? Disney opened up a movie park because Universal was, and opened DAK to combat Busch. To say that Disney won't do something because someone else did is obviously false.

Meh. They're also very small animals that don't need an entire land to showcase them. Throw some on the Oasis and be done with it.

Did I say that Sea World having an arctic would stop Disney from making one, too? No. I was speaking on my own behalf not wanting two arctic exhibits fifteen minutes from each other when there could be a fresh exhibit with new and exciting animals like they have in Australia.

Kangaroos, salt-water crocs, and Cassowarys are all pretty large animals. Koalas, Tasmanian Devils, Platypuses, S.Australian fur seals... these would be SO neat to see.

Put me down for the DAK Australia expansion. They do have lot of very interesting animals. And an area themed to an Outpost in the Australian Outback sounds interesting.

Originally I was thinking about adding something like an Amazon River Boat ride. But it would be too similar to The Jungle Cruise. And after investigating the critters that are in and around the Amazon River/Rainforest, I found that they don't have all that many large animals that could be seen from a boat. It is interesting that they have 1/3 of all the species on earth, but very few large land animals. Capybara, giant otters, Anaconda and Panthers are the most interesting. They do have a bizzilion types of very deadly tree frogs and HUGE spiders, but they would be hard to see from a boat or even a truck.

I wouldn't mind Australia. I wouldn't mind almost anything being added. But if I had to pick one, I'd go for the mythological land. I think it has the most potential for creativity and large scale adventures.

EDIT: Update from Screamscape again
(6/23/11) It didn’t take long for Emo Yeti to run and hide it seems… according to the latest trip report the Disco Yeti is back again, strobe like and all.

The difference between Blizzard Beach and an Arctic section is that Blizzard Beach's story is based in Florida and the snow is melting off, so that allows trees to be there because it's within the theme.

This is the Arctic:

But yeah, it'd suck.

The ride is listed in the 2011 book of Guinness World Records as the most expensive rollercoaster in the world. Including sets and extras, the total cost of the ride was at $100m (£51m) in 2006 after 6 years of planning & construction.

And if they took out the yeti, it'd be worth $5 million  It's a real shame one of the best (if not, the best) AA in the world has barely seen the light of day :mean:

But anyway, that's one expensive roller coaster.

^ For a short time the yeti had no lights shining on it and didn't move, hence Emo Yeti.

One of the imagineers at the D23 Expo said this weekend that although they're working on it, it won't be as good as it was when it opened. But it'll be better than now. :sigh:

It can never be as good as it was. It destroyed itself and the mountain. But some movement Is better than none.

He's built into his own structure. And even then, his problems are all internal, not structural.

Wasn't he tearing up the cement around him from his weight and power?

No. It was some sort of internal lubrication issue and he was tearing himself up.
