I’m mostly expressing concern over the long term. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say over the next 30+ years all or most of these expansion spots will be used up. What then? All I’m saying is I’d like to have a local park that could be as packed as Disneyland and looking at Epic it doesn’t seem to be designed in a way to last even 50 (being real generous here) years without resorting to the removal/replacement of large areas that USF and IoA have to use. That’s really it.

I think it would be interesting if Universal ever tackled the hub and spoke model that the castle parks have. I think that’s kind of the king when it comes to efficient use of land. Also how not every addition needs to have a whole land around it like Luigi.

By then, we’ll prob be talking about a 4th park. Haha

Looking at most of the recent Disney/Universal newer theme parks, it seems generally they're in the range of 12-14 significant attractions, not including minor stuff like M&G and the like. These new parks haven't really received super huge opening year attendances. Usually, they're in the range of 8 to 12 million or lots lower like Hong Kong. So, in a way, these parks have to prove their long term viability, and progress in steps. Easier to add then subtract.

Waterpark doesn't count, no matter how hard they try to classify it

I think the best thing to remember is Disneyland is a special, unique, anomaly in the North American theme park roster, based on when and how it came to be.

They just don’t build them that way anymore, and that’s fine.

Epic Universe is going to also be a unique park, where each land is basically a Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, CarsLand, Galaxy’s Edge, etc.

I can’t wait to visit, in maybe 4-5 years.

the original discussion was taking a 1-1.5acre chunk from the expansion pad out, and creating an add-on portal in DK, you can see on bios recent shots, the very large access gate that would allow that to happen and still keep a healthy sized expansion pad for something else. theyre not going to throw all their eggs in one basket with another seven acres when they have two other parks they can eventually add IP into, not many people need inducement to come to this park....USF on the other hand....

This would make the most sense but I remember someone over on Magic saying this isn’t as easy as it looks and there’s some kind of road there now.

I think as Tommy showed, they'd just have to move the perimeter road around the new show building. I'd probably build a bigger ride for Luigi's Mansion though than SLOP.

I think Alicia might have posited that LM could be either an Omnimover (ala Buzz) or a busbar (ala MIB) dark ride, so that makes sense if that's the information we're working off of.

That layout makes more sense than tying up the whole land. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around having to enter through DK though. I wonder if there's a way to make the entrance in SNW proper and doing a DL Indy type queue where instead of switchbacks, you just keep going straight?

I think it makes more sense to put it on the MK side expansion plot, but I guess that's already designated for something else?

Take out the Coke Freestyles beneath Yoshi. You could do another Warp Pipe through there to the ride.

I was getting deja vous, that this conversation had already been had, turns out i re did the layout a month later, also i think great discussion was had about how to connect DK up in USH, i put a layout for that park where is was on the other side, however...

Is it really that wild that you have to enter through DK, when you already have to enter DK through SNW? I dont really understand what youre talking about with Indy. I will say this though, to put to bed the discussion about building in the small 1.25 acre plot east that has other plans:
Not only are there internal reasons they cant just knock through from MK side as the whole side has other stuff going on on both levels, that is also where the underground service tunnel to Atlantic begins, you can literally see it in this image below

In regards to Indy, the show building is built far away from the main paths. They did a long, meandering, shotgun queue from the entrance to the building rather than a more traditional back and forth switchback layout. pic below

In regards to why I think that would be better for this scenario, I'm looking more from a thematic angle. Luigi's mansion doesn't fit within the DK universe, so it doesn't make sense to make the entrance there. However an entrance from SNW for Luigi makes more sense, at least imo.

As to the two different Luigi building locations, I think the first one is fine. That dogleg/back corner works well for a show building. Allows for a longer/skinnier expansion pad. Where the second one would make a shorter and wider. Depends on how they want to build it out I guess.

I can't be the only one that hopes a Luigi's Mansion miniland would be connected to both Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country to create a little loop. Epic is already so heavy on dead ends that I think it'd be nice for this land to eventually be more akin to Isle of Berk and be its own small loop for easier navigation.

So long as the land is relatively contained to the back of the expansion pad, they could loop between Mario and Monsters.

Based on potential building locations, enter in SNW, and exit into DK makes practical sense.

im sorry but I am really unsure how you think people are going to get into the land other than the route theyve already built into DK. every building on the ground floor of SNW is occupied, I believe its the 1 up store before you go through the archway to DK, and then the Maintenance building for Yoshi, the other side of those buildings is the fire road and delivery yard for the restaurant, the picture I posted had a green rectangle to demonstrate another portal in and out its easy to screen with trees and other elements to lead into something different

The park has dead ends and no loops because theyre self contained lands, they would have to abandon the whole concept of the park to have loops into other lands
