I'll only pay $5,000 if I can share a room with Josh D’Amaro and he has to call me Padawan for the weekend

$5k or however much for a family of 4 though is still a tough sell. Sure, it will probably have some pretty cool moments with the entertainment, but I just think that there's a very limited market for this long-term, especially with it set in the timeline of the sequel trilogy.

Sure, the first three months are sold out for this so far, but I just don't see this as something people are going to do multiple times and the number of people that will be willing to pay for this is low. However, they were smart and kept the room count low so even if they don't sell out, it won't feel too "off" as it's meant to be an intimate experience anyway.

With the most of the actors being equity, i'm not too worried about the actors. I'm more worried about the script, tbh.

And I have a hard time believing that adults who aren't huge fans or even die-hard fans of Star Wars will be impressed. It's kind of like an extremely expensive costume party.

thinking this will do well for the first few years, but eventually we will see demand drop unless they either drop prices or make story changes. Of course if demand drops , I could see Disney reducing staff and making the experience less involving. It's definitely an interesting experiment/concept for a hotel.

As a fairly big Star Wars fan, if they would have done a highly themed Star Wars hotel, I'd have been all over that. But as this is basically a 2 day LAR experience, I have no interest in this, even if it was cheap hotel prices. I'm sure they will roll this back from its current pricing/experience structure at some point, but with the lack of amenities, this will be more of a "All Star - Star Wars" resort than a high end hotel that SW fans would want.

History will prove us wrong or right, obviously, but I still get the sense that this is Disney misreading what people want and are willing to pay. The only thing in this resort's favor is that it is small enough that it won't need the masses to make it work. I do wonder how many repeat visitor they will have.

I think making the rooms small to "fit a theme" was a big misstep. This should be a luxury starship, you shouldn't be sleeping in a room that looks reserved for the staff. Especially for the price Disney is asking. Guarantee that's the biggest complaint....that and no pool.

As far as a pool, an indoor pool with a giant galaxy view would have been cool, or they could have built another "space elevator " to a distant planet and themed just outside the hotel.

They went all in on the "cruise ship" experience. On a cruise you don't spend much time in your room. As short as this is, if people spend all day at the park, they can probably replicate that part I guess. The biggest complaints will come from the people that don't care about the star wars experience and evaluate it on the hotel itself. If you get roped into this because your kids or spouse want to do it, you are going to be pretty upset at what you spent for what you got.

A pool would help on that front. If this was Star Trek, they could just say its a holodeck. Not sure there's an easy way to do that with Star Wars.

right. But it’s not a cruise is it? You aren’t going anywhere exotic or exclusive, You can’t gamble. You aren’t fed endless drinks. Most cruises also are much cheaper then 5k , especially for a 2 night stay. for 5k you would expect to stay in a suite with a balcony view at that price. Oh and again. No pool.

idea for “pool excursion”: shuttle down to “Endor lake/swimming hole” …forest motif would be easy to theme and throw a bunch of impromptu Ewok villages around the perimeter.
huge success.

like some folks that travel to Disney spend just as much time at the pool as they do in the parks. People come to Florida for the sunshine.

They actually already mentioned specialty beverages are an extra charge. So not included.

idk. Sounds like a Disney cruise minus the pool. lol

But yeah, the price is insane. To compare, a 7 night cruise for 4 in a base room on a Disney cruise is about $5k.

I've been on over 10 cruises. Most of them have been either Royal or Carnival and have been extremely cheap, yet they get the job done just as much as if I were to pay more to go on a Disney Cruise every trip for virtually the same itinerary with a worse private island (i've done Disney a few times, but it's aimed at a very specific audience), especially since Perfect Day at CoCo Cay was renovated.

The most i've spent on a cruise was a little over $1600, and that got me a 7-night Alaskan Cruise on the Norwegian Bliss (which at the time was brand new), airfare included in price, time to explore Seattle, Alcohol package included, and obviously everything on the ship and a much different trip than a Caribbean cruise. I'd say I got a lot more for my money than people will be getting for this experience.

You thought alcoholic drinks were included? LOL. When rumors about this hotel started, my first thought would be that "costumes" would be included so that everyone would be in character, to help add to the experience. However, that appears to be extra to. So basically you'll have a bunch of people in "vacation wear" and flip flops walking around the "spaceship", asking where the pool is.
You're basically paying a ton of money to sleep in a heavily themed 3 star hotel room with shows and interactive experiences (videogames) in the lobby.

Is Park admission included at least?

Yes, for one of your two days, but you won’t really be there long enough to do anything except Galaxy’s Edge.

Has there been any indication as to how booked up the hotel is so far? The problem at large is Disney can charge whatever they want because there people out there who would absolutely drop this amount of dime on something and not flinch. So until the insanity stops, or at some point within the next few years and Disney sees that they need to lower the cost of this it will never change.

I saw it is fully booked to June

Until cruises start we really won't know the demand. If the reviews are good it may be a piece of unobtainum for the majority.

So there is a special “room” you can go to that “replicates the outside” so you can see the sky and feel like you are off the ship. They really could have added a pool to this area.

There's no time for swimming, or anything that isn't rigidly planned into your itinerary.

There's barely 20 minutes to get back to your room to change or freshen up before your "formal" dinner with the captain.

This is a very concisely planned out two-day larping adventure, not a leisurely stay at a resort. All families are assigned specific times to do each activity, and when they go down to Batuu, and even "surprise story moments" are scheduled to the minute.

I guess if you really don't want to participate in the activities with your family, you can escape back down to the surface using a shuttle (elevator) and get in your car to head to a local bar. Or just sulk in your room while your family fights Tie Fighters without you?
