The building is large enough for an Uncharted (PortAventure) style dark coaster, but at this point it would require extensive gutting and remodeling of the buildings interior to make it sustainable for a new major dark coaster.

It’s plausible but it isn’t gonna come cheap.

I mean while for now I'm down for the ride to be here....I feel like they are going to have to de story most if not all of it anyway to open the lower lot

Like at HHN last year, their were times I felt it was too unsafe having all these people where you can't move the area needs to get bigger. So while not now, for the future of the park, I assume they will need to take it away anyway so there is room if they add Pokemon, Zelda or what ever new lands and E tickets come to the the old tech building and or some sound stages going away

Yeah, I think Jerrod's right. The ride is still popular and a strong people eater in the lower lot. And until you've got a "big" expansion ready for the lower lot that allows you to create more open space... I'd probably choose the status quo unless Universal's hand is forced.

I do think the ride age is an important question to ask that it might near the end of the rope sooner than later. We haven’t had extensive refurbishments on this ride at all, and I have to think about when UOR seemingly did Retracking with Premier Rides for theirs.

Have to think if we don’t get a more extensive refurb in the next two-three years, one should ask the question much more poignantly on Mummy’s future. Unless—the name of the game is to ride this like they have with Simpsons, where it continually gets worse and worse until they have to old yeller half of the rides capacity.

It's not just the years, it's the mileage. I assume Hollywood's Mummy has seen far fewer cycles than Orlando's did when it received its retrack.

I mean we are getting to the point where the ending room effect has not been working for half the time this ride has been open

I don't think they are what the state of this ride is in, We talked about this for F&F and most coaster fans just want a fun ride and don't care about themeing. So I think as long as the coaster works the ride can be up and it still gets very solid lines (though some of this is on USH for only have one loading and offloading many days)
But still point is people are still willing to wait for this on most days, so while I'm fine with way with this staying if it needs because of simpsons needing to be worked on first

The ending has been off for WAY more than half of the rides run. It’s been shut off since 2007…nearly 20 years ago. The ending has only been fully operational for two years.

I do think they will keep the ride around for the next 2-3 years, especially with the new Mummy movie coming out. Once that time passes, I think they will seriously look into replacing it until a better indoor coaster comes along….or at least that’s what SHOULD replace it. The time is coming up to either replace the track or replace the ride altogether.

Since 2013 in this forum, Ive beea arguing that The Mummy is still far more popular of an IP and works even if you dont know the IP better than any attraction they can put there.

We have a new movie coming out in a year in a half, if that movie is a smash hit, this coaster isnt going anywhere. Even if it isnt a smash hit, I cant see this coaster going anywhere. Id bet money it would get a retrack before anything else. Only way for a replacement is a massive expansion into the backlot but that possibly is more far off then anything.

Sorry if i'm beating a dead horse, but If the SS 16-24 cluster is still marked for lower lot expansion, then Mummy would have to outright be removed to make way into a new land in that plot. To me I feel that is the most likely outcome.

I would like the Mummy to be represented somehow but I would also like an updated ride. Maybe the new movie will be the impetus for that.
