They topped it with Gringotts for me. But that's because they combined the best of their 3D attractions with Mummy elements.

Gringotts is missing the 'thrill' aspect for me...I love it, and ride it whenever I am there..Mummy seems to dial up the thrill a bit (and even a pop of air time)..With Universal's current "family" centered vision, I wonder what will happen to Mummy

They could dial up the thrill on EfG by using the tower trick. Hang you up on the drop for a variable length of time and release without warning. I was "stuck" for about 5 mins once and it was the best drop ever once we released. Screws with the animation and story but it does add "thrill".

I clearly underestimated Mummy's popularity. Anybody know what the GSATs are on average for it?

Agreed! I think if Gringotts added about 30 seconds worth of coaster to it, it'd be hailed as the best dark ride on the planet. Its major downfall no pun intended is once it gets going is abruptly stops for more dialogue. I totally understand how unreasonable it is given the already massive size of that building but adding 500 ft of track after the teeter totter and then again after the launch would of delivered on the thrill end of it. That being said I still LOVE the ride and my "addition" is no more than unrealistic fanboism.

Everyone in our party of 4 said the same. 30 seconds of coaster at the end from being pure perfection, as it goes it just kind of stops.

Mummy is one of our faves. MIB, sorry if it offends some, but utterly forgettable.

30 seconds is a lot. I've always thought how perfect the ride would be if it just had 5-10 more seconds of coaster after the launch.

Before it had opened I had always kind of envisioned that somewhere in the ride would have a coaster section roughly the same length of time as the one in the Mummy, only surrounded with 3-D screens to make you feel like you were truly careening through the Gringott's caverns. It would be quite the software to make the squinching work, but I wouldn't put it past Universal at all to pull it off.

If they went down that route, I think physical sets would be the only way to go. It doesn't need to perfect either because of the speed.

If it ain't broke don't fix mummy
Also, I remember when Men in Black 3 came out the ride was rumored to go under refurbishment. What happened to that project?

Mummy is also probably one of my favorites at USO, they get the thrill and dark ride aspect combined perfectly. I love the pops of airtime on it and I also love all the fire and theming, it is one of the best themed coasters of our time.

I think Universal would be better off fixing the Ride system instead of replacing the Ride because mummy is too darn popular in the park and it's almost everyone's favorite ride. And we all would appreciate one less screen-based attraction ;)

Looks like a winner to me. And did you see the Mr Hyde and Dr Jekyll tease in the trailer?
