Hollywood Version:
+ Much better pacing at the beginning of the ride (imo)
+ Animatronics that are actually disturbing
+ A reverse section
+ Air jets that simulate beetles running on your feet
- Way too short
- Anticlimactic ending
- Facade is very plain

Orlando Version:
+ Beautiful "museum" facade
+ Much longer experience
+ "Where's my cup of coffee!?"
- Animatronics look stiff
- Head snapping jerkiness in some areas

Overall I love both attractions, but when it comes to being the world's first "psychological thrill ride," I'd have to say Hollywood really delivers in that aspect. Although it is extremely short, it's quick to get you right into the action. In Orlando we go through about 4-5 different sections, at pretty slow speeds, before we actually get to the launch, which is probably why it seems longer than Hollywood's. If they do decide to update Orlando's version it'd be wonderful to add some features from Hollywood's version. Probably not the reverse section because that'd require a major overhaul of interior work, but little features like the air jets under your feet would really add that extra surprise element to the ride.

Here is my thinking on Mummy.

1. Mummy's ride system is having major issues. (that's a bad omen for Universal attractions).

2. Fantastic Beasts fits the NYC theme. And even the facade is begging for the upgrade. This

3. Fantastic Beasts will be a merchandising/plush juggernaut. Nifflers will be the new Pigmy Puffs.

I believe that there have been people saying that the ride system has been having some faults that may be too hard to avoid; although I could be wrong.

I believe that limiting Fantastic Beasts to USF may not be the best of ideas. Plus, we still have several films to go for more locations that they can use for the third gate.

And as for the Nifflers; I'm curious if they'll start popping up at the parks soon.

But it doesn't have to be limited to one area of the park. I would expect more FB in the 3rd gate. I think that since, so far, it seems that there will be significant real world locations in the FB series individual attractions in various "lands" would be the best way to include the IP.

I think we are getting way too far ahead of ourselves here taking replacements for mummy

Maybe refurb if there are some ongoing issues but there are a lot more things to improve or focus on at the resort than replacing a pretty much concensus top 5 ride at UOR

I think that would be Wizarding World overload.

As much as I hate to agree, if they don't wait a bit more people are gonna get tired of it. This film has already induced some fatigue in the franchise (I think with time to digest this will change). Universal struck while the iron was hot - now it would be wise to let it heat up again. And I think a third park would be the best place for FB.

Agreed - I read an article (that I can't now find!) that questions the profitability of FB as they may find it difficult to be as big as the HP films due to a shift in demographics and the aging of the original HP fans. It was interesting but obviously we can't predict the future!

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I wonder what the core issue is. I would think that shutting it down for three weeks and rebuilding it would suffice.

To throw my thoughts out there about FB replacing Mummy, I just can't see it for several reasons. Sure New York seems like a no brainer but I can see JK Rowling having a major issue with this being in the same park as Diagon Alley simply because it takes place in a different time period. (I think Harry Potter at UOR is all over the place time wise but it's still within it's own arc?)

Plus parks just don't take the risk any more building a ride around an unproven IP. (Look at Test Track 2.0 and Tron) Sure it's in the HP universe and it will probably be a major success but Universal don't need to rush into this. Especially when there is going to be a wealth of new content coming with future movies and if it turns out to be another huge success then they will have something awesome to put into their 3rd park with what could be an even better attraction.

Putting it into their 3rd park makes more sense as well from a financial point of view as it creates a greater need to buy a 3 (I'm still not really counting VB as a theme park) theme park ticket to get the full HP experience.

I'm also seeing Mummy having a lot more love than I had originally thought.

I'm not sure if Mummy is the *best* ride per se, but at least for me it's probably the...most fun ride? It's over the top, does a ton of cool stuff, and the ending is dumb as heck. It's the one ride between both parks that I can ride over and over without getting bored. I would be crushed to see it go.

Not only a beloved ride, but I would think Universal wouldn't want to shut down a major capacity ride while they're tearing down Kid Zone for Nintendo. They have capacity issues as it is right now and even with Fallon & F&F coming on board, that will only offset Kidzone.

To this day Mummy is my favorite ride in USF. 12 years and they haven't topped it for me.
