My entirely premature takeaway from this is the use of both Park and World. Maybe those who said JW ride in a JP land were right.

I’m shocked. Shocked I say. :tired:

Anyone think that Summer 2021 was a possible placeholder by the web dev people? Or is that going to be the official opening? I’ve been saying for awhile that construction is set to wrap up in Spring, but they may want to give themselves a lot of time to test to avoid a Hagrid situation. Opening May, a month or so before the (currently scheduled at least) new JW film may be a great tie in.

The last line in the paragraph mentioning Jurassic World VelociCoaster got removed from the website and the attraction link is now 404. Possible unintentional leak that got patched?

This is so on brand for Universal. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe not. I lean to mistake but I'm sure they are listening to the buzz.

Isn't that always what they do, announce something, take is off and than re-release it.

I think summer will be the date. Mostly because I assume the winter is going to be bad for COVID, so they’re hoping on numbers coming down and hopefully a vaccine

Summer can be such a broad term, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's sort of a placeholder just to prevent any Hagrid-level situations. I don't think they're inclined to give an exact date given the Covid situation.

Given the state of construction, one has to think testing could start in the next 2-3 months. This ride doesn't have anywhere near the complexity in regards to the block sectioning Hagrid has, so I don't think there's gonna be as many kinks to work out. Something to look for could be an extended soft opening, in an effort to cut down on a rush on official opening day. Who knows what they'll do though. It's a whole new world, and I don't envy the decision makers right now.

 It's true. An accidental web update of an announced attraction that everyone already knows exists is one of the most Universal things they've ever done. Normally I'd say this is another example of what I like to call SCSS, or Severe Corporate Silo Syndrome, which is a combination of communication not being exchanged freely between departments and executive overthink delaying critical information from flowing downward to the people who actually keep the lights on. In this instance I suppose it could be blamed on general confusion from Covid and the resulting layoffs but even before that this was definitely a pattern for them.

I've been loving their new sassy tone on the official UOR social accounts but so far they haven't given a 'wink-wink' to this clear screw up which makes me think it was indeed an accident and not some kind of "planned leak".

I mean, they obviously aren’t changing JP River Adventure currently, so it makes sense if they’re going to name it a Jurassic World ride. We’ll see if it changes, I still bet it does one day. But for now, since they’re 2 different names they have to acknowledge it. No one will really care

I think everyone seems to agree and so do I, definitely summer 2021. For literally so many reasons:

- Avoid a Hagrid situation
- Covid, maybe the parks will really open up but I don’t expect it to be crazy busy next winter/spring
- As you said, movie tie in. Regardless if it plays next summer if the film is pushed back, push the ride back even to mid summer or late summer and buzz carries closer to the release date.
- They’ll need a summer draw for locals. We’ll see if they can produce a decent weekend event for Mardi Gras to get the weekend crowds, plus IOA will need a draw eventually as USF plays more to the locals since they’re more the “event” park.
- We’ll see if all hotels open for the holidays, but if they dont, opening them BY or during the summer will at this point in time make sense, even better to open a new ride then to help fill them up.

Team VelociCoaster! Now that their pants have been pulled down they should come out and do the announcement deal on Monday. If they don’t then maybe one of us can make a mock up of the logo haha.

Woah they announced a new rollercoaster! I wonder when construction is going to start on this? I mean it's not like we had any indication this was coming. I am genuinely shocked.

Back in 2005, the Apple website uploaded some unbelievable specs to the PowerMac G4 site. Steve called it a "premature specification". I think that's what's going on here.

Believe it or not, there are people dragging it on various sites (*coughredditcough*) saying that even at three words it is still too long.

As long as Christmas is cancelled, that's really all that matters

Also, I really just want them to make the Jurrassic Park -> Jurrassic World conversion so we can move on with our lives

I don't even think they realize that they don't have to say the whole thing. It's like they think everyone walking into the park is forced to say, "Let's go ride Jurassic World VelociCoaster!". Much like Hagrid's and Hulk, people will get the picture with just VelociCoaster. Thoosie community be cringe sometimes.

I don't think they would announce it on a Saturday or Sunday.

If this bumps up the announcement, I'm guessing Monday--because that'd be the start of the business week. Or hell, they may just cover their eardrums, and be blissfully ignorant until Early next year. :tease:
