I'll hope for the best for these kids, it will be rough the first few years unless the show is made amazing from the start...but yeah I wish them the best

ngl also feeling bad for them too. Hoping they don't get treated harshly as a result of the expectations that...some people, would have, placed upon them.

Have to wonder if they have S2 already greenlit, if only so they can have both ready quickly (or if they are going to be just in a constant state of production as if it was british One Piece).

You'd hope that people would be aware enough to not attack little kids because of their expectations (or people's opinions on Rowling) - but unfortunately, I don't think that's the case.

I think their adults will make sure they're well protected, too young to be on social media, won't be attending regular school anymore (there is a school being built on site for them) and they'll be in the filming bubble most of the time hanging out with the other kids in the cast.

She must be a great little actress, she apparently played Matilda in “Matilda: The Musical” on the West End 2023-2024. I hope she will not know or care what strangers say on the internet about her.

Well...I guess there's really no turning back now.

This show is going to have such a massive uphill to climb to avoid negative comparisons to the movies (among other obvious obstacles). At face value, I am struggling to see the point of this beyond financial reasons, but have to remind myself it's kind of like a Broadway show that's beloved and gets revived/updated for a new audience. I hope I love it so much that it fixes any problems I had with the films because anything less than spectacular is going to be seen as a failure.

it's gonna sound weird, but the music could make or break this show as well,
everyone seems to kind of freaking out about potential castings of stuff, or how faithful it will be to the books
but the music of the movies is so unique and it's so immediately recognizable, it's so fantastical,
the music in the park really transports you when you visit, it hits you directly.
a bad score for the show it's really gonna make the difference if it's iconic or not. ( kinda like how the goosebumps movie didn't have the song of the show, and no one remembers it)

I see the point of it as to more accurately bring the books to life, give us important moments and whole characters and storylines that didn't make it into the films, sometimes very important points such as who were the authors of the Marauders Map and their relationship to Harry were not included in the films! Some other stuff can be improved on like Harry and Ginny's love story being so unexciting in the films, and Dumbledore yelling at Harry which he would never do, a lot of Snape and Voldemort flashbacks were missed out. So much littler stuff like in the first book some of the challenges they had to get past at the end to find the Philosopher's stone were missed out. So for people who loved the books before the films existed, this is really exciting to see it all brought to life in a way that is way more expansive and truthful to the original stories!

RE the music I don't know how they will top the score used in the movies, it is iconic. I hope they can use it and build upon it.

I have low expectations at this point

HBO is not what it used to....Last of Us season 2...how GOT ended, and season two of House of the dragons just don't make me confident along with some of the casting...(not the kids...I ironically think they will be stand outs once they get into a grove of how the characters are)

If this series even finishes then great and I think it will get an audience more...will HBO be willing to pay to finish it all

If we're being honest here, it's not like the movies changed THAT much. This isn't like Percy Jackson where the story was so different compared to the books that it became unrecognizable. By and large, the HP films stayed true to the source material. Anything that was cut was done so for time or budget (the latter of which the TV show will not be immune from).

Yes the movies stayed largely true to the books and had to cut/change stuff for time reasons. If people prefer the condensed version of the stories, the films are great for that. I hope the TV series has the budget to do everything they want to. My 12 year old is re-reading the series for the umpteenth time now and I have to say some of the stuff that's only in the books even I had forgotten about.
