Thanks to the few who replied with basically what we would say: spec and rumors are not reality, so please manage expectations.

On top of that, nothing has been confirmed or denied.

This could be a dumb question but could the announcement of the speculated Evil Dead Burn house be stalled based on how it does?

Since it basically bombed compared to expectations and previous installments would they change it to Evil Dead in general or snuff out all together?

Really hoping for KKFOS too if not just for the merch.

The lack of transparency is that they randomly limited multi nights with express the past 2 years with no notice to people that bought that product every year. If the rumor is true that the option in not available at all this year, it is very much another lack of transparency. I'm going first 2 weekends, got an amazing hotel deal and treating as a vacation anyway, but will cancel my October trip if rumors are true. Save myself thousands in hotel and park spending, or maybe just do Howl-O-Scream instead and stay offsite and still save.

I'd rather save my money than go to Howl-O-Scream again, but that's just me

At this point no. If it was for next year or something maybe. But it’s a house for this year and the event starts next month.

Doing both, Howl-O-Scream is a really reasonable price right now but you get what you pay for. HHN is a Premium event at a premium price.

Hey so they haven’t released premier passholder ticket nights yet? It’s sooo much finagling on the app you have to do.

I haven’t seen anything yet. They normally release the dates when they release multi night tickets if memory serves.

This is my least hyped zone (unless another rumored zone becomes true) based purely on location and the fact the entrance zone tends to be not amazing and a selfie zone. Last year they did take a step in the right direction for the entrance zone.

These types of decisions are generally locked in well before release, and there are a lot of factors beyond box office. In my experience, the things that tend to delay announcements are legal/licensing issues or unforeseen events like tragedies or natural disasters, not a movie's box office performance.

That is, of course, assuming there was ever any kind of announcement planned for last week in the first place.

I just saw Evil Dead Burn in theaters. Personally, I thought it was great, but I can understand why people wouldn't. I think my bigger concern/question as to how it would work in a house has more to do with the heavy thematic material in the movie than box office performance...I don't want to give spoilers away so if you don't want any spoilers avoid reading from this point...but I'm basically just not sure how comfortable Universal would be with those specific themes (***spoiler alert and content warning: familial ab*se and d*m*stic violence) in a house. It's not subtext or a one-off; it's the entire premise of the film and it's constant. Obviously HHN doesn't shy away from violence ever...but I'd be surprised how they'd handle violence within that specific context. That would really be the only reason I'd give any kind of pause over the question if we'd have an Evil Dead Burn house...

If you haven’t seen the film, you’ll probably have no idea those themes are even a part of the story, and the finale will just look like an escalation of the violence and possession you’ve seen to that point. They’re probably more likely to lean into the grief/funeral angle, in my opinion. I’m sure they’ve adapted stories that also have darker themes like this in the past.

I honestly think that it's going to be one of the "action" heavy houses this year. Mostly just people fighting Deadites.

In other words, am I gonna enjoy and follow along fine if I haven't seen any other Evil Dead movies? Or do I need to binge any tonight to prep for context? Afraid to google it and risk spoilers haha

No, this is a stand-alone story that does not require you to have seen previous films to understand what is going on.

Evil Dead is interesting as a franchise, as there is a split between the films that are graphic and serious, and the films that are campy and comedic. The Evil Dead, Evil Dead (2013), Evil Dead Rise, and Evil Dead Burn are more in the former camp, while Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, and Ash vs Evil Dead (the TV series) are more of the latter.

If you want to watch something to prepare for Burn, Evil Dead Rise would probably be the best option (even if I don't care for it personally). I prefer the original trilogy, and those are worth checking out later on if you have the time.
