A TLC (Tables, Ladders, Chairs) match has been declared for the Tag Team Division titles at Summer Slam, with the Wyatt Sicks in tow to defend.

I can see the announcement being there now after being delayed. Or done next Thursday, then HEAVILY promoted on both Smackdown and Summer Slam immediately after.

Yes, the GSATS must have been in Hell (and rightfully so) because this *appears* to be a major course correction .

I do recall it was mentioned HHN will be announcing things to the end of July, so I wouldn't be surprised it'll happen sometime next week. Could be paired with FNaF's full announcement, could be separate, they've got all week.

Yeah, it really feels like A&D had time to cook on the ideas they have this year. I appreciate the tweaks they're trying for the streets, the house line up is solid with several heavy hitters that I don't think any of us expected they'd have...let alone all in one year! Add in the fun themes for the zones, the return of the lagoon show...*whistles*. This is the kind of year where I'm excited to be going Opening Night so I don't have to avoid spoilers!

Who knows how everything will turn out, but on paper I’m really impressed and what more can you ask for? The scare zones sound like a genuine effort to improve the theming and overall atmosphere/continuity. The merch already looks better, and we’ve got the lagoon show back. They’re trying some new stuff - i.e Mel’s. They seem to be serious about improving Ops and crowds.

Time to enjoy the remaining summer and be really thankful for what we have coming this fall.

This.

I will bet everything that this year may be truly generational.

LOL it seems like this is said every time there’s a new wrestling match scheduled.

Ooof, I am missing opening night for the first time in a while and so very glad. I'd like to see them have time to get S&S tweaked, if going wristbands, before I attend.

Wait, so like—is it actually documented that people formally complained about last year’s event? Or is that more of an assumption based on general online feedback and discussions? Just curious how much of that feedback officially made its way to the creators. Either way, I agree—things are definitely looking up this year.

The hardest of the hardcore were audibly down on last year. Just speculation on my part. By any metric, the streets and icons were lackluster. And quite frankly, it was all over the place. Couple that with rising costs across the board. Recipe for disaster.

I felt like I was getting ripped off left and right. Let my AP lapse and haven’t booked a trip for this year.

They send me surveys every year and I sure complained about the lackluster zones in them. I can't imagine I was alone.

I will be really glad if the streets become amazing again. it's been a while since they were amazing. stuff like the parades or budget made it feel like streets would be put last in the priorities of uni. sometimes. I'm happy if they return to glory.

I've always said that in some ways, streets can be as important as the houses.

it's pretty interesting because I've only noticed them do tiny changes from the complaints or the surveys , ( like when that one year when they changed the music around the event after opening or change lighting or little stuff like that, or the change of the voodoo priestess show that one year or the change of the angels in that demon house.)
I remember those changes,
but I wonder what people said about last year and what the surveys said.

Sometimes it's minor -- opening up a new exit route the week after Kid Rock's infamous Mardi Gras concert. Other times it feels more major -- finally curtailing TWD then never letting another IP outstay its welcome, expanding the tribute store, bringing back chainsaws. But I feel Universal has always been much more responsive to fan backlash than WDW or even Sea World.

My thoughts as an HHN outsider: When they moved the former HHN creative/entertainment director back to working on HHN, was probably the signal that Universal/Comcast was unhappy with the HHN direction....thus the positive changes.

This, coupled with a group of IPs who could anchor an event by themselves.

Mike is responsible for all of Entertainment, not just HHN. The “HHN” creators also create and direct the Christmas parade, Grinchmas and Mardi Gras parade every year. He got shifted back because he was no longer needed at Epic. The timing of it happening after a “bad” year was coincidental.

Because, remember, 2021-2023 were done without Mike as well. And those years don’t get anything close to the flak 2024 does.

I just don’t see how we get “good” zones back without crowds majorly dropping off to pre-2012 levels. There’s only so much Universal can do to make a good street (outside of NY) when the arteries of the park are constantly clogged.
