Cool, so I CAN complain about loud ass police copters flying over my house at all hours of the night?lol

Just keep in mind this is being blown up to create a news story. Most people in the area aren't complaining (I do live in the area).

Most people have actually read the notices sent out by the park that noise and screams are still being monitored, and the park will work WITH THE NEIGHBORS to mitigate as much noise as possible or the course of the testing period.

Does the police department have an agreement with you/your building to limit noise?

Feels like everyone's just trying to confirm their priors here.

If my research is correct, the community in question pays HOA fees about double what I do. Yeah, I’d be pissed. If that makes me a NIMBY I don’t really care. When you pay for a service that guarantees a certain level of peace, you deserve it.

It was a JOKE. Notice the lol?

news interviews 2 people, and people hop on their soap boxes and buy the discourse, hook, line and sinker. Let’s see if 6 months from now this is even a thing.

No wonder the media controls the narrative lol.

listen man, it’s bad enough that you’re talking nonsense. we don’t need the condescending tone to go along with it.

My dude, the difference is that the theme park has literal, codified obligations to their neighbors that they appear to not entirely be meeting right now. There's a reason that they specified that they'll be doing additional noise testing in their notice to residents.

From the outside looking in, it appears Universal is actively working to mitigate the problem, has set up a hotline, is monitoring it, and has open dialogue with the residents and the county supervisor on the topic ('Fast & Furious' coaster screams rattle quiet neighborhood: 'Like someone is getting murdered'). If Universal was quiet on the situation? Sure, I understand going to the papers and voicing your concerns. It feels like they're being heard by Universal and responsive and yet still trying to hit them at the same time through the press and that feels... like they're not operating in good faith.

Earlier on when riders were still going, I saw a couple guys with these mic stands going from area to area. Cool to see that they're even observing sound levels within the park.

I'm not a mod, but I really don't see the point of getting heated up about this. Unless you actually live in Toluca Lake or work with the Universal management team, nobody cares what you think or speculate. The issue is entirely between those two parties, and no one else has the right to be offended on behalf of people who already have their own voice.

We should all remember that Universal, every early on in construction, did conduct scream tests. Does no one remember the speakers on the hill side that just played phantom coaster noises and screams, to feel all that out with the residents years ago? It's not like Universal was caught off guard by this issue.

I agree. This isn’t news to them, nor are they bothered by it. It will all work itself out.

I think what annoys me and many others is seeing them going to the press. And the press running the story. Is there nothing more important going on? Truly first world problems.

I forgot to touch on this but it seems that unlike Jurassic World, they don't seem to have the photo booth up. Sounds like it's the same for everyone since I didn't see anything about people taking home on ride photos today or yesterday.

I’ll be there tomorrow! With Express. My fingers are crossed. I’m taking a buddy who hasn’t been to the park in two decades so we’ll have a blast one way or another. Plus, it’s one of those “Buy a day, get a second free” tickets so I’ll have another shot to ride if it doesn’t work out.
