Woah! I haven't kept up with Hollywood spec, so this is a complete surprise to me! Has this kind of thing happened outside of Japan before?

I don't watch anime, but this is a really cool thing to see. The further of a net that HHN casts when gathering IP for it's event, the better. Lest we end up with the same Purge, Halloween, Stranger Things houses every year.

So ... Re-evaluation on Demon Slayer's potentials for statewide HHN events?

The Jujutsu Kaisen 4d show at Fan Fest Nights was I think also a port of an existing 4d theater show from USJ, so there is a little precedent.

Really strange to me that they waited till the last second to announce this, like granted it's nothing huge but Chainsaw Man has a pretty big fanbase, you'd think they'd wanna cash in. Hell I'm pretty sure Late Night with Chucky got a bigger announcement than this lol.

I do think we will gradually continue to see more anime properties at Universal Parks, but this decision was likely made because the show already existed at USJ. It makes sense given the Jujutsu Kaisen 4D show was a success at Fan Fest Nights in Hollywood.

Both this is cool but...no clue how much I will see it because its not Dubbed

But happy this is here over Chucky (the show if they allowed it to be more free would have been amazing but it was too much the same every time so it was good)

What an insane year for HHN, lol

Yeah uhhhhh this does not appeal to me at all and furthers my opinion that this event is straying wayyyy far too towards the center instead of leaning strictly horror. Unless someone in my group is a fan of this (and honestly, the chances are kinda high), I don't think I have ANY desire to even "give it a try" even with Express. I'd much rather spend my time doing...literally anything else lmao

I don't know how an anime show full of gore with a man with chainsaw hands who battles demons and devils isn't considered horror?

Scary. Dread inducing. Includes frights. I don't know what word(s) you want to use, but I feel like you know what I mean. I found a link that shows some of the attraction if anybody else is deciding to nope out of this early.

I still don't think the people who run HHN or Fan Fests really know what to do with anime aside from understanding that it's relatively popular enough to warrant a presence at their events (see One Piece getting a little corner and churro kiosk rather than, um, anything substantial). Hopefully this trend is reversed following this and the lopsided offerings at FanFest.

Also, A+ for finally using the theater as a flex space.

Never seen the show, maybe now is the time to give it a chance lol.

That said, I hope they use the English dub cast for this. I would really hate not paying attention to the action because I have to read what they’re saying.

No, I really don't know what you mean other than you're moving the goal posts about what constitutes horror based on personal taste.

I don't care about the IP, personally, and know little about it - but just because I don't care or find something particularly scary doesn't mean it's not horror.

The event isn't supposed to be everything for someone; it's something for everyone.

They're releasing this in Japan and Hollywood, so I don't see why they wouldn't have time to do this? Maybe it's a contract issue? (i.e English voice actors are not necessarily contracted for voicing their characters outside film and television since theme park rides would not typically have been a concern for anime up till this point).

I'm talking about the time and expense to produce an English dub, which could have been factored into the budget of this show from the (shonen) jump.

I hope so.

In my opinion, they should bring over as many shows from USJ as they can because actually using the Dreamworks Theater as a flex space maximizes its capacity when it's mostly a walk-on or an afterthought to most visitors if they've already seen Kung Fu Panda.

My bad. Until there’s official news about it, I can only hope. I wonder after JJK, there was feedback regarding subtitles, hence they would take note of the next time Universal tries to attempt this.

Lolll

This guy is fighting Zombies and Pumpkin Demons whats more Halloween then that?

Like if it was dubbed I'd honestly be more excited but I think people coming once to the event will enjoy this even if not into Anime from the videos I can find the vibes are very much in the spirit of Halloween

I would hope that they noticed given a good like 50% of the people attending Fan Fest were wearing One Piece merch and they flesh it out more, since as cool as those meet and greets were, it was a little comical how tucked away all the anime stuff was compared to the amount of people that came solely for that.

Honestly there's pretty deep pool of horror anime/manga for them to draw on at this point, so I'm hoping this ends up being popular enough for them to lean into that besides just 4d shows. I'm always seeing lots of people wearing Junji Ito merch, and Murdy did say he pays attention to that sort of thing, so wishful thinking maybe someday we can get a full on maze adapting some of his work? Lord knows that man needs better adaptations than the stuff he's been getting as of late lol
