This doesn't exactly fit the original intention of this thread, but this is where I think this post fits best.
I did some research to figure out the most popular and successful horror and horror-adjacent IPs that have yet to (officially) appear at HHN. I tried to balance mass appeal/popularity with how well each property would likely translate into a haunted house when creating this ranking. Here are what I feel are the top-40 that have yet to be featured at HHN:
- The Conjuring Universe (including The Nun and Annabelle)
- It
- Scream
- Five Nights at Freddy's
- The Thing (1982) -- never featured as a book report type of house.
- Hellraiser
- The Silence of the Lambs
- The Ring
- 28 Days Later
- Dawn of the Dead
- The Descent
- The Mist
- Outlast
- Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
- The Lost Boys
- Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
- Paranormal Activity
- Pet Sematary
- Pan's Labyrinth
- The X-Files
- The Fly
- Suspiria
- The Amityville Horror
- Terrifier
- The Addams Family
- Amnesia: The Dark Descent
- The Babadook
- The Grudge
- 30 Days of Night
- Dead Space
- Supernatural
- The Munsters
- Tremors
- Drag Me to Hell
- Shaun of the Dead
- Creepshow
- Re-Animator
- Blade
- Pumpkinhead
- Gremlins
Blue = Film
Red = TV series
Green = Video Game
* Some fall into more than one category.
Some of these would obviously work better as haunted houses than others, some are potentially too controversial, and some may have contentious rights issues. But, as you can see, the pickings are getting slimmer and slimmer with each passing year for fresh IP content.
Which IPs am I missing? Which don't belong?
