I rode it twice and didn't hear it? You talking about the ride system sound? Maybe I barely heard it a few times but never paid attention to it.

You can hear it here, and in other POVs, it's very loud and Hollywood only

Ok on several of the POVs I've watched, there is a very very loud humming sound (almost like a generator or something) running

It's overpowering the audio on the car

Anyone know what this is? I hope it's not permanent

I'll vouch for you and say I heard it as well and found it distracting, but they're in technical rehearsal so . It's more apparent in the transition from the volcano to Rainbow Road.

I literally don’t remember hearing this at all. Huh. I’m sure it will be sorted out.

Looking at the POV, seems like USH is missing the big queue room with the Mario Kart truck. Several new things in the USH queue to make up for it though, including the screens in the bookshelf with the Boos, don’t recall seeing that in Japan. Maybe I just missed them.

The pre-show being in Japanese is strange, my guess is the video team didn’t finish in time for softs.

Now really analyzing both Osaka and Hollywood's queues...

Osaka does a much better job at world building and explaining the premise of the ride, while Hollywood is the better queue in terms of visuals and variety.

Like, I know most guests are not going to give a single damn, but the Hollywood queue is way more haphazard than Osaka. In Osaka, the queue starts directly at Bowser's castle, which makes sense since as the premise is that Mario & friends have been challenged by Bowser for a "fair" race. In Hollywood, you start with Yoshi...

What does this contribute to the plot of the attraction? Yes, it looks really cute, it feels me with nostalgia, but what does it have to do with the big race? I know most of you dont care, but these little things matter to me. Because after going through the Yoshi area, we're all of a sudden at the front gates of Bowser's Castle. Huh?

Once you get pass the Bowser statue in Osaka, youre taken down a long hallway. This area does feel like dead space in comparison to the Hollywood version, but it does a better job at explaining what's actually going on here. The Mario Kart trophies are proudly displayed on a platform, and adjecent to that is the Universal Cup displayed, alongside Bowser's letter to Mario. Since you're always going to be walking through this hallway, you'll never miss this detail.

While in the Hollywood version, the Universal cup is haphazardly placed on a random brick block, while the actual set-up information is tucked away in another corner of Bowser's Foray.

Then there's Osaka's...uhh..."Advertising" room(?) This area is that big "dead" space i mentioned in the post I made the other day. I didn't really think this area mattered much, but on futher inspection, its not as pointless as it seems. This area shows how the media press is preparing for the big race (hence the MKTV van and the kart parts all over the place). It also displays information about Mario enemies on display panels, more advertising for the big race and portraits of the race participants.

This room is then juxtaposed by Bowser's Foray in the Osaka version (in which we immediately jump to in the Hollywood version, as the "Advertising" room has been completely omitted). This shows how Bowser is actually rigging the race, and plans to completely sabotage team Mario.

The thing is, I don't know if that point fully comes across in the Hollywood version, as a bunch of information is crammed into Bowser's foray.

TLDR: Hollywood is more visuslly concise, but Osaka has better pacing and consistency. The plot in Hollywood is the same, but the way its delivered is inferior, making the already chaotic ride experience even more confusing from a roleplaying standpoint. Osaka guides the guests into the narrative better than Hollywood (the preshow still sucks in both though. They reeeaaaaallly should have had the characters interact before the big race. We the players know that Bowser has rigged the race, but Team Mario doesn't).

Anyway, 98% guests wont care about the setup so eh.

I think you're overthinking the Yoshi rooms. We've been challenged to a race and are traveling through Yoshi's Island to reach Bowser's Castle.

All of the information you're describing from the Osaka version is also prominent and present in the Hollywood version. The letter to Team Mario is pretty unmissable, as is the Universal Cup. Bowser's engineering of the racetrack is also extremely apparent in the library/workshop, so... I guess I'm a bit puzzled. We can argue the staging and pacing, sure, but all of the information is there and conveyed well.

Yeah, was definitely wrong on this part. Watching the Universal Parks POV right now and it is closer to the Universal Cup (and the guests) then it seemed in the other POVS. I still think its more organized in Osaka, but its fine.

I came here to say after seeing a land walkthrough that, yeah looks like USH gets a really cool queue to make up for the lack of the yoshi ride. You get to travel through the mushroom kingdom and end up at bowsers castle to face him in a race. It's a little bit long, but I think the whole package is probably very rewarding.

It was definitely a smart way to get the Yoshi "experience" in Hollywood without the actual ride.

I pray Orlando gets this yoshi queue for our ride. I don’t know how it works spacing wise, but it’s so much better than Japan.

This is a good question. I’d assume because EU is getting the Yoshi ride that Yoshi theming will be only in that ride’s queue.

Wouldn’t it be about the same size, if not larger, for inside Mt Beanpole? That’s only reason I suspect maybe they could upgrade the queue a tiny bit. It’s the only part of Japan’s land that if I had to nitpick, is lacking a tad. Since the ride is so short this queue would be a lovely treat, a la ET in terms of relaxation.

Am I crazy in thinking the “new” queue looks terrible? I get that it’s different from Japan which is a cool novelty factor but everything on the ground floor looks FEC level to me.

That’s not to dump on the Hollywood version because once you get upstairs it’s great (a complete 180)…based on the way it’s laid out I’m hoping that ground level is just overflow and not in use on normal days.

*Disclaimer: I’ve only seen videos.

Ahh so you’re saying adding Hollywood’s MK Yoshi themed rooms to Orlando’s Yoshi Queue?

As someone who has been there twice now....its an amazing Q. The starting areas aren't as detailed as the castle parts but are welcome over just painted walls or a sea of rails switchbacking you until you get to the castle.

Also I hope they change how they load up or something because after the pre show area the line was so backed up and it barley moved and they need to add more guard rails to guide guests to the stairs because it becomes a mess of people all trying to cut each other off.

I agree with you about the queue, the rooms BEFORE bowsers castle just look like a cheaply done kindergarten art project. The short queue in the castle however, is really well done.

What is FEC?

Also, I hope the Orlando version does its own thing. The Hollywood queue happened because we lack space. I hope Orlando takes the Osaka version's queue and makes it more varied (and maaaaaaaaybe make a new preshow).
