Are you suggesting / have you heard that the World of Monsters area is going to be "family friendly"? That is really disappointing if true...

It wouldn't be a "year-round HHN" if that's what you were expecting. The whole park has to be inviting. The World of Monsters would be scary in the same vein Jurassic Park is scary.

The Classic Monsters are actually pretty "safe" at this point. They're not gory. They're culturally embedded. Imagine something that feels like a "darker" Lost Continent.

That..brings up a point.

Where would one classify Kong/Skull Island though, considering the atmosphere (and actors when it first opened) the area/attraction gave off not being normally for the daytime.

I definitely think that "tone" would be in line with Monsters.

Just to add The Mummy is a rebooted Universal Monster.

I don't think HHN level would work as a permanent in-park setup. But it could as a seporate interactive side attraction in CW2.0.

So most likely after Star Wars galaxys edge opens in late 2019 when the hype dies down for their new anticipated land opening at DHS come next year 2020 Universal Orlando should be heating things up with strong rumors of what lands will be coming, how many lands, restaurants, shops, etc. future transportation to connect all 4 parks, an official name of the new park should we at least hear by the end of this year? Because in 2021 WDW 50th anniversary comes and I’m wondering should Universal spill out any details about a fourth gate around then to compete with Disney.

If Universal hasn’t given any info a single coaster opening in less than a year then don’t expect any info for the park. We say parks don’t want to delay people’s trips and a been park would be that x100

A theme park is a bit different than an attraction. They announced Volcano Bay 2 years out, albeit with a brief blurb that it's happening. I'd imagine we'd get something later on this year, but definitely something by 2020 with a short "it's happening" and maybe "anchored by Mario and other Universal properties" - but no specifics.

And some vague artwork that everyone dismisses as being a fanciful artists rendering but ends up being pretty close to what's built.

Honestly, I see 2020 with just Super Nintendo World as the headlining announcement and nothing else.

And I would doubt that'd be the intent for a Universal Monsters oriented land.

If it's on a similar plain to Kong, then it may be a good spot for Fantastic Worlds to be more thrilling for those of older audiences, but still welcoming to all for some of the experiences.

Isn't a theme park also a bit different than a water park? I feel like a lot more people would be willing to postpone vacations for Fantastic Worlds than did for Volcano Bay.

Because of the cost involved, Comcast will have to tell investors that "a new theme park is happening", but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get a name or any theme details until within 18 months of opening.

But Volcano Bay isn't just a water park, at least in the eyes of Universal.

Our Universe is expanding.

I’d love them to do a viral marketing thing like the old days. Create some fake website or web series similar to what they did with Kong. Each week or month a new ‘world’ is discovered with fuzzy black and white images from a probe. One video is peach’s castle with ‘Its me, Mario faintly heard at the end’ and so on with the other worlds that are discovered.

Not to mention once the detail permits start showing up news outlets outside of theme park/Orlando ones will start covering a new park. Most wont do that for a ride

I really hope we get a preview center for this in the future. Would be great to visit and see what we're in for. Just have to wonder where'd they put it.

I love the idea of a preview center, I just don't see it happening. When you can have videos posted online and reach more people than will ever pass through a preview center and save a ton of money on it, why bother with a physical place (which most likely would just show the videos on screens anyway)?

Need to point out that Hollywood had a year round Walking Dead house.

I'm not asking for the entire area to be terrifying, I just wanted it to lean more towards The Mummy and less towards Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue.

Just wondering....but.....It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall at a Comcast high Executive meeting where they were discussing whether the current Universal Orlando management team was sufficiently able to launch a successful 3rd dry park.

Monsters Land will be very Mummy like. Meaning it will be more "adventure" than straight horror.

As much as I like Comcast in regards to how they've treated the parks, I don't think they necessarily pay attention to the *minutia*. They see a resort that is increasingly successful and profitable. That's what they care about. Maybe the VB projections/missing those projections are the first thing that drew any negative attention.

It'll be interesting to see what the fourth quarter results are like. It seemed Universal had a good October with strong HHN results. And the three key weeks of the Holiday season seemed strong. Hopefully the rest was decent. Especially since they're coming off of a very flat second and third quarter. As you said, most of those former periords had strong financial results. But in business, it's often what have you done lately. I'm guessing the fourth quarter results will be telling. If they're strong, things will probably remain as is. If they're flat, questions pop up.
