Now that we’ve gotten the SFMM announcement, I have to ask: Is there any chance that Universal could attempt to build another dueling coaster? Or did Dueling Dragons ruin that chance forever?

Definitely not. It’s supposed to get a movie soon, ups a huge merchandise seller, gets constant updates, and is one of the most popular games in the world.

Legally, zero percent chance.

It's the reason it stopped dueling in the first place...

They'll never build a coaster that goes over guest paths or duels ever again, IMO. The don't want to keep putting metal detectors on rides, especially in their new, shiny park

Couldn’t that problem be fixed in the future, by adjusting the ride layout and adding metal detectors?

Universal absolutely does not *want* metal detectors on their rides.

There will probably be metal detectors, anyways. But if there’s a way to theme them, Universal will find it.

Then people are going to keep bringing stuff on the rides. Guest pathways aren’t the only problem here. The items can get in the ride gears, liter the dark ride paths, etc.

Six Flags Magic Mountain. They just got a dueling launched coaster themed to racing cars.

Guest pathways are absolutely the *biggest* reason. The rest is annoying, but you're not gonna get sued for someone's wallet lying in a dark ride scene.

Guest pathways are 100% the reason. Why else does RRR, Hulk, and DC have meta detectors but Gringotts and Mummy didn’t? Guest paths. Things dropping from Hulk and incidents at DC directly lead to metal detectors, which are an ops and guest relations nightmare.

Hulk and RockIt will be the only coasters Universal wants with metal detectors. I'm sure once RockIt becomes unbearable to maintain they will probably rework the layout to avoid guest areas at all costs.

Or just tear the dang thing down. It’s so unreliable.

The less metal detectors in the park, the better.

The average lifespan of a steel coaster is 20 years. So we're already half way there.
