I believe you are just setting yourself up for disappointment.

I don't remember if I ever said it here on OU but I wasn't kidding when I said I would be their harshest critic regarding Nintendo if they mess up any aspect of it.

I would lower expectations. It isn't wise to amp up your excitement up to eleven all the way to the end; and that it could lead to negative results if you over-hype and overthink yourself.

I also agree with Epcot on that what you think will happen, doesn't seem that feasible when you look at it from a larger sense.

Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and Mario Kart are all going to be groundbreaking additions. And that to me, depending on a few variables; the Puzzle Theater could be innovative in it's own right. And who's to say we wouldn't have a large role? But as I said, lowering expectations would be wise, no matter what may be coming out of the ether.

I don't know, I kinda have to agree with Mike. Zelda deserves something truly epic, something that only a ride could provide. But I mean, I like the puzzle theater concept too, but just for another franchise, not Zelda. But of course, I'd throw them all away for a chance at Luigi's Mansion.

It's like they think I'm crazy. If they want to make a little show out of something use a smaller franchise than Zelda like Fire Emblem or whatever.

So a fully immersive mini-land of Hyrule Castle, with shops; dining; and the Puzzle Theater wouldn't be enough?

What's the new expected date for Nintendo opening, 2021? I don't see it adding an extra 5 years as I think the new park would be open before 2026.

I can't see the new park taking any less than 3 years to build. We're in a new era of park design where everything is hyper themed and we're probably going through a drought of construction workers with so much getting built.

Change the theater for a grand E Ticket and then we're talking.

If all these franchises have to go into one land at USF it should be Yoshi that gets the small attraction, not Zelda.

Who's to say the experience can't be an E-Ticket, all to it's own? It doesn't have to be just the moment when you get into the seats. One of the best things in the Zelda series at multiple moments, IMO; is the buildup. You know something is going to happen, but you don't know what it is, depending on the environment.

And that, they can make you apart of the story without you being in a ride car, moving around multiple locations. Hell, I would argue Zelda is the best IP for an "Experience" attraction, because unlike Mario Kart and Donkey Kong to where they are seemingly going to have you in the action at a select period, Zelda; once you enter the queue, could begin your story right there and that it wouldn't be a problem.

So what kind of show would play out then? How would you see the world of Zelda from a theater?

Come on, man. I love Zelda too. I LOVE the idea of Zelda getting represented in a theme park. The fact that there's even a possibility of it getting a theme park area at all is extremely exciting. But beggars can't be choosers. So I don't care if it's getting a ride or a show. We're potentially getting an immersive Zelda-themed area and attraction. Do we really have to whine because it's not exactly what you want at your ridiculously high standards?

I would imagine it using a mix of multiple effects, practical and digital-based. Before a preshow, the entire queue; outside of attendants and all that, is vacant. Almost dead and foreboding; and that the preshow uses a mix of animatronics and projection mapping. After that, guests are taken to one of two theaters; each specifically designed with the theater in mind. And that, as the show begins, the Puzzle-Theater is used to it's strongest suits, with having them elevated at certain points, along with animatronics, screens, and projection mapping; to tell the story needed to be told.

That, is how I see Zelda. A multi-media, next generation show, with practicality and digital based materials used together, not against eachother; to tell the story that fits best within the Zelda universe, without tieing it in to one area of the Zelda timeline.

Personally, a lot of people love Zelda. But, it isn't at the level as per say the Mushroom Kingdom or Pokemon.

Having Zelda as an addon may work out in the favor, to balance the cartoon aesthetics with something more realistic yet sharing similar designs of a Ghibli film. But that's how I see it.

  • I mean, not trying to be negative, but a ride will always be better than a show to me. But yeah, I'll take what I can get. Having a show is better than not having anything at all.

I still don't understand what anyone is expecting the puzzle theater to do. If we go just on the patent I'm not even really sure what it does.

From what I can see, the theater looks to be that it can be assembled in different ways and different seating orders, could move around and be moved vertically up or down potentially, given the profile.

My gut is telling me Zelda is going to have a much smaller presence in the parks than you all think it will.

The same UC that apparently pitched this to Nintendo with Zelda as a puzzle theatre show?

Seriously.

And I bet the general public would too, especially if it ended up being Universal's take on Mystic Manor.

I don't think it's the sort of thing they'd have at the opening of SNW tho(they've got so much on their plate as is), but as an expansion down the line? I really hope they go in that direction.

I think this "going bigger" stuff probably relates more to Yoshi than either of these other green dudes.

With all the talk of stacked areas and multi levels and cartoony Nintendo stuff... all I can think of is the soulless hellscape that is this nonsense park:

I would welcome more entertainment at universal as opposed to rides taking existing spaces with questionable capacity.

IMG wants to build another park they have been so successful BTW.
