I have no disdain of anything. I was only commenting the color and contrast of his photos... they don't appear to be mucked with in photoshop to me. That said, I love any and ALL photographs on here.

Are Canon T6 Rebels any good? Perhaps I should check out the photography thread. :saywhat:

I was trying to be funny. I appreciate a natural image as well. And I don't disparage cropping (if that's even the case here). I crop everything to fix my chronically poor in-camera framing.

I have a canon 6d which has a full frame sensor.. true pixels, allows you to not care too much about framing because you can also zoom/crop as much as you need after.

Drops slides are damaged. Replacement slide pieces are being staged at the tree farm off of Universal Blvd.

That could explain why the volcano is still wide open.

If they have replacement parts already, this isn't something that was just discovered. Work needs to continue and the slides will be fixed when the time is right.

Given the amount of rockwork going on around those drop slides I'd expect universal to have anticipated this situation and to have some pieces ready to fit at short notice. It won't take them long to unscrew a few sections and replace providing they have the right parts. I'm not worried just yet

They've done rockwork on the entire interior of the volcano. The backside is never going to get closed. Ever.

Well, I'd say getting the three signature waterslides fixed is a pretty major priority. I also agree that this doesn't give a reason as to why the back of the volcano is open. Based on the rounded out profile of the volcano's edges that create the opening - it's very clear that there will not be any additional rockwork dedicated to the area that creates the eyesore.

Here's to hoping that they get it done on time. It's truly going to be a photo finish for Universal at this point given this rather major setback. My money is on Volcano Bay grand opening with only the perimeter attractions available for guests. Water Coaster (since it exists within the problem area) and the three body slides won't open until a few weeks later.

I'd imagine the replacement parts are all custom but I imagine the manufacturer are prepared for these events.

I'm not bothered about it being closed but I am bothered by the exposed steel.

Oh of course, but I imagine they haven't just noticed which parts are damaged. They'll have known for a while and I would take a guess these are the parts panic is talking about

What was it? A simple scratch to a piece of the plastic? If it was the drop box itself... oh lord.

I'm sure if they were anticipating damage to the slides they wouldn't have installed them in the first place. It's not like they interact with the rock work extensively. It's just a ball of slide tubing sitting in the shell of the volcano. Given that the pieces are fiberglass, I imagine the tubes hang more like Christmas ornaments rather than contributing to the structural integrity of the support complex. With that said - it'll still take them some time to work their way into the fix given that the lazy river, stair structure, and water coaster are all in place.

Gonna be a tricky one!

They still have to do something with those supports that hang for the stair platforms. So there is some hope.

But what I find troubling is the installation of the fence inside the park. That says they don't expect thing to be finished in some areas.

Maybe that was installed for when they had the employee/family/whatever day for riding the slides

Question on the drop slides.... how are they tested? Do they use weighted dummies or some other method prior to people going on them? Just curious since they can't test them now that they've removed some of the tube sections.

I think they use dummies.

At least Action Park offered a $100 to employees to test the poop slide.

It has been rumoured that employees were given $100 to sample the ride, with one recalling how that sum did not "buy enough booze to drown out that memory".

I feel like I'm too sensible to go through the water fountains in the parks now that I'm an adult but if I'm getting wet at the park, I'll happily play in this.
