For me, the reason why I am frustrated and I hate this park is that it will likely stop development in some facet in Orlando. This wasn’t as cheap as it looks. I don’t really understand the companies direction with these expansions were or were intended to be.

I mean I don't see your point

Orlando just got Epic, a next level amazing theme park (plus two new hotels and is getting a new coaster next year.

Hollywood can complain we had to wait almost 4 years for one coaster and have NOTHING coming soon while IOA is about to get a new land in in like 2 years. But I don't think this project was that much it was under a Billion which is at this point maybe 2 rides either coaster is losing

Fortunately, it's not stopping the Ministry and Dark Universe expansions at Epic or Hollywood Drift getting added to USF and USH.

Edited to say I posted just as @Jerroddragon was adding their better response.

It’s more that they’re spending money like crazy rn and if these become losses, that’s where things will start to diminish. If anything I wish all this funding went to Hollywood and they just stuck with what they’re very good at and are proven to be.

UKR cost less than Ministry. Maybe we can pump the breaks and take a chill pill.

I get it in a way but once again, I just can't say that Orlando is going to suffer for this. They clearly have long term plans at Orlando and doubt this park effects them

I think HHN in Vegas will affect if the second location happens and same with the Kids park, if this works well then more to come and if not they will do everything to make money and if it has to shut down...hopefully sell it because most of the rides can easily be rethemed

I also don't think this park will fail, it might not do the best for now but as they add onto it I think it could grow into a park that gets people in but also with all the BS they signed away to get in here...it feels like it shouldn't take much to make money

If you can't make coasters or nighttimeshows....then you are saying you don't need guests from other countries. I don't get it but thats what people on here say is this is made for locals and people in states nearby, so assuming they aren't expecting as much money from this then USH or an Oralndo park

F&F Supercharged, I assure you, was a bigger waste of money.

I understand people’s argument that this diminishes the brand’s reputation. I understand the argument that budget cutting and final product failed to meet the public’s expectations. I understand a lot of the arguments; even ones I disagree with.

But anyone arguing that this isn’t going to be successful and making a nice chunk of profit, at least during the next 5-7 years, simply isn’t paying attention.

There will be another Universal Kids built because of the success of this park; not its failure. Barring anything catastrophic or a major shakeup in the organization.

Obviously this isn't a defining metric, but UKR is sitting at 4.4/5 on Google right now.

And 4.8 on Yelp.

People like the park lol

There are only 136 reviews and less than a dozen of the five stars are from people who have actually been to the park, haha. Not sure the people leaving a Google review for a theme park are any more representative of regular folk than the maniacs on this site.

That's why I mentioned it isn't a defining metric, but figured it was worth mentioning lol

I’m using the two Facebook groups specifically for universal kids plus the moms groups (I don’t have a Facebook so the rare times I’m on it it’s my wife’s). The consensus has definitely been very positive for those who have gone with just a hand full of criticisms (same as here- shade, hot, leaving by 2pm, etc). But overall it’s very positive.

Obviously again not a defining metric. Universal is the one who truly knows with their surveys.

To be fair, I’d love to be wrong here. If it’s rumored this park cost $500 million than they definitely need success to justify its existence.

I mean you need success to justify anything in this business.

This is all speculation, but I assume this and HU are new capital expenditure projects where the money was received from the board or outside the normal budgeting process because these ventures are expanding the business. While there's always a worry that a major investment can be a drain on the division (see Disney spening the 2026 equivalent of $12bn on EuroDisney in 1992) these are much smaller projects than even a major new attrcaction. UKR or HU "failing" would likely not impact any of the existing Uni parks expansions or additions, just probably throw a wrench in their other regional entertainment options.
