all of those shops (Kat Saka, etc.) could have fit into those empty facades next to Oga's & Savi.

Those were planned to house things though. The actual full service restaurant connected to Oga’s and the interactive game home that would have tied the interactive elements of the land together behind Savi/Droid Depot.

Unfortunately they were cut late in development.

The good news is that they are willing to make changes now, and I am sure bigger ones will come down the line as well to (hopefully) fill in some of the unused spaces or vacant buildings.

Yeah, I'm just thinking that the marketplace area should have been integrated either through multi-level structures (e.g. shops in the bottom, Sa'vi/Oga at the top, etc.) like SNW. I think having the land too spread out was ambitious from the start.

I think it shoulda been more spread out, be set on Tatooine, and be split into all three trilogies with an attraction in each 3rd of the land.

Rise for sequel trilogy

Smugglers Run for original with Han and Chewie

And pod racing coaster for prequels

But hey, that’s me

I think Star Wars Land should have featured multiple areas dedicated to different places and areas (along with room for expansion for future characters).

I'd actually model the land similarly to how SNW was built... multi-level, tall and easy to "switch" between locations and eras. There's no reason why there's a giant Diagon-esque marketplace, all of those shops (Kat Saka, etc.) could have fit into those empty facades next to Oga's & Savi.

I feel like it already is divided into notable districts. The Empire corner, two distinct Rebel hideouts, the market street and larger town area. Characters will currently only hang out in specific areas, and theoretically with how large the land is, eventually characters from different eras could be meeting at the same time without obviously clashing by being in sightline of each other.

Hopefully we eventually see a larger revitalization project for the land that finally sees us getting a number of those originally planned elements. I don't see it happening for awhile, but I also don't believe SW:GE will never get an expansion, so hopefully it's on the table at some point in the future.

Star Tours always had nice theming, good music, and when they had the outdoor show it felt more Star Wars than the much larger GESWL
ever has.....Disney had the correct formula....and then the new group of Imagineers blew it.
