Took them long enough. :skull:

I have two hopes, that this isn't connected to the X-Men movies that came before in any meaningful way (even casting) and that this isn't about the multiverse, but somehow I think both of those hopes are pretty unreasonable at this point.

It'll be connected to the multiverse. It almost has to be. If not directly, at least post credit setting up the second movie. I suspect they'll go clean slate though on cast though. If it's MCU, they have to plan on the next 10 years, so they won't want "old" actors.

Nah that's more about Secret Wars than anything. I'm pretty sure they're going to make it a complete reboot with a whole new cast and everything

If X-Men is a hit, I am pretty sure that Marvel will want them to play a big role in Secret Wars. Maybe they are already plans for that as well.

Jordan Peele when he has to work on the story with five hack screenwriters:

Peele would have been a phenomenal choice for X-MEN. He knows how to balance thematic substance with crowd-pleasing structure, and he knows when to be funny and when not to be.

Honestly if I was Marvel/Disney rn I would be going OUT of my way to do everything I can to get him back in talks for this project. I agree that he would be such a perfect choice for this film.... I hope they talk to him again about it!

Peele is an excellent filmmaker who makes crowdpleasing movies but NOPE shows that he's not afraid to be weird and a little antagonistic if his muse takes him there. My guess is he would've made a fascinating, bizarre X-Men movie, almost certainly one of the best in the MCU, and that there was no way the Marvel story parliament would've gone for something that off-beat for their marquee property.

Hire the Team behind Xmen97

No one has ever on screen understood the characters and fans so well

They get it and I doubt anyone else will get close to what that team could do

Maybe, but I think he would adjust himself to the needs of the subject matter. He's a smart, savvy guy (and also a gigantic movie nerd). I doubt he'd include the X-MEN equivalent of the Gordy subplot from NOPE because he'd know that's not the venue for it.

studios wouldn't even do that with batman.
wasn't there some backlash that the DC studios wouldn't hire the cartoon guys for the DC movies?
I vaguely remember some controversy or fan backlash that DC wouldn't hire those guys?

I know this is marvel. but I've heard that studios don't like getting the cartoon guys for movies

Yeah, makes sense Hollywood is a big club…most rather hire someone based on anything else other then what’s best for the product
Xmen97 is like one of the highest reviewed Marvel things ever, why would we want them writing the next X-men film?

Also lol, makes sense the last DCU was so meh compared to young justice or the old justice league shows

I think it was when justice league was being made or reworked, I think even in this forum someone said " why can't they hire the cartoon. or comic guys"
and the reply was " they might be able to create the cartoon but they can't translate to movies"
maybe it was reddit or YouTube comments?
something about movie writers being "needed" and how you can't just cross over or something.

i remember that conversation somewhere.

Yeah to me it’s that’s so BS

Young justice is more mature then anything the DCU every made and they had much better and more interesting writing

Feels more like fans and especially Hollywood writers just bring defensive over the meh crap that was being passed as cinema

I know some will argue that X-men97 isn’t as great as the fans of think, but to me the show while not perfect is wildly entertaining, with mature themes, great action and character moments that make you cheer for your favored or new favorite characters
