I posted this awhile ago when it was only a rumor in the Horror Movies thread but I think it deserves its own thread now that it's been officially confirmed. I'm so excited for this movie!

They paid $400 MILLION for the rights alone to make these sequels. They need to make something just to justify it.

Flanagan is a great choice and I hope he's able to give us a great movie, regardless of the name. I love his work.

Mike Flanagan Says There’s “No Way” His ‘Exorcist’ Movie Will Make Its Release Date

The filmmaker's planned project, which follows David Gordon Green's 'The Exorcist: Believer' underperforming in 2023, has since been removed from Universal's calendar.

Mike Flannagan's The Exorcist has been pulled from the 2026 Release Slate, as he is focusing on the Amazon Prime TV Carrie project first.

I'm not sure which we need less: a seventh EXORCIST movie or a fourth CARRIE adaptation.

(The answer is CARRIE; while I could hypothetically see the value Flanagan could bring to a new EXORCIST story, I can't fathom why CARRIE needs to be told again.)
