Yeah i understand it’s just weird to see these references in other movies still. We really don’t know what Universal is planning for their 4th gate officially right now. But yes I understand the chances are very low of back to the future coming back in a Uni theme park.

I just think it would be cool to see a deloreon styled coaster going around a hill valley section something that we haven’t seen from back to the future in a theme park setting. I know I can wish and dream all I want. But you guys are pretty much saying been their done that. If it doesn’t come back it isn’t the end of the world. I’m not freaking out if it doesn’t come back believe me. I’m just surprised it’s getting so much media attention.

I mean, if you've been keeping a track of what's been rumored via some of the amazing individuals here..we don't have "no idea of what's coming to Gate 4". :oO:

Then why are you trying to bring it back up every-so-often (and even going to the extent of creating threads for it that have already been created)?

In the end of the day, it will never be our call. And in a way, I am glad that it isn't. Sometimes, the stuff that we think/write on paper, may not execute well in reality.

Ready Player One is based on the book from 7 years ago and was filled with these references. The genre invites these references, look up any modified game.

Ok I give up I’ll stop bringing up classic attractions being revived with newer technology because it’ll never happen. Universal is focused on the future going forward not backward. I know Jaws, Earthquake, ghostbusters, Back to the future, all those franchises are all dead except King Kong which is at IOA. However shark movies are still relevant since 47 meters down is getting a sequel and The Meg is getting a sequel and possibly a theme park attraction.

Except as of now, that statement isn't true, as Jaws and Earthquake still exist, with Hollywood and Osaka still have the two in larger forms (but in Hollywood's case, not being full-frontal attractions).

Ghostbusters, wasn't even around for the entirety of the first 10 years of USF's operation either; and while it's a fascinating use of technology and coordination...it was in a sense, an abridged take on the climax of the original first film. And to be frank, Twister was a better representation of an IP in that building until Fallon came.

Aside from (apparently) perhaps the Classic Monsters, Universal just has no interest in exploiting its great movie back catalogue for theme park usage.

I think that's a rather short-sighted point-of-view on their part, but it is what it is.

I read from theme park university that Universal studios Beijing could be similar to the fourth Universal Orlando Park why may I ask? I am curious as to why Jaws and terminator still exists at other universal parks is it because of Spielberg’s contract? Not terminator.

I really really agree with your post. I'm glad Universal doesn't take our advice on what attractions to get rid of and what new attractions to build. Probably the only thing we were right on was F&F. They'd probably be bankrupt by now for sure if they took our suggestions, mine included. :)

Universal classic rides - a lock for gate 4. Monsters in gate 3 (I hope)

I'm not sure they really want to trade on that much nostalgia in new parks. Maybe they produce more ground breaking attractions and rely on those to become "classic"?

Terminator has no shot in hell being in Beijing, and..it's a subject of different parties with different contracts.

Not everything has to relate to Spielberg.

What I think Josh means, is the amount of care and quality. And that what's being put into Gate 4, will be similar to what is being done for a few of what Beijing's projects are.

Well if theirs anything close to jaws coming back to universal since it still exist in the Japan park the rumored The Meg attraction is supposed to be coming to China. But where in China we don’t know. I know it’s highly doubtful Universal would use a IP by Warner Bros into its brand new Beijing park which isn’t open until 2020.at least we know a sequel to the Meg is coming out I know it’ll never be used in a Universal Park. But their trying to make this a franchise. You just don’t seeing that name overtaking a universal property like Jaws or use the Mossasaurus from Jurassic World.

The Meg isn't rumored for Universal Beijing. The only thing confirmed about anything Meg being worked on, is that a few Chinese parks are working with producers on a potential The Meg attraction (which even then, that's loose). They never gave a name of a particular park, and no-one has given any incite to that happening. The only Mandarin Production Company (and even then, we are talking of Hong Kong) that was apart of The Meg..was Flagship Entertainment.

Beijing as it seems is Supercharged & The Great Wall (posts of auditions from earlier in the year), Transformers & Jurassic World, Kung Fu Panda & Hogsmeade, and Despicable Me & Minions (along with whatever the Waterworld looking area is going to be).

That's not to say, they couldn't be adding IP's or stories from Asian media, but that would not include The Meg.

Is The Meg part of the Nintendo Switch?

You Millenials and your games

Also, why is nobody talking about bringing Murder She Wrote back for the new park?

I would be all over that! I would also be the only one in the attraction.

The MSW Mystery Theater was a fun show!

Ok this is coming from screamscape not me take a look for yourself......

(11/2/18) In an article about the film, “The Meg” they mention that not only is a sequel in development about the giant shark, but also a themed attraction is also said to be in the works for a theme park in China. No park was mentioned in particular, but as this is a Warner Bros. IP, I don’t see the WB just licensing this out to just anyone… though they followed up this news with the comment, “Hopefully China will have the first Jurassic aquarium.”
For those wondering, given the relationship between WB and Universal… I have doubts we would see The Meg as an attraction at the new Universal Studios Beijing park, as Universal would benefit more from using their own Ips like Jaws or even the Mosasaurus from Jurassic World instead. I guess we’ll have to wait and see where The Meg appears next.
