Original concept has no prejudice associated with it because its new. IP has prejudiced associated with it because its known. Known troubled IPs are lot harder to work with, then unknowns.

Am I because Disney is seeing first hand the effects of negative press and how it is starting to kill an IP?

What negative press would come out of a Classic Monsters land? Also, the idea that GOTG the ride will be a flop because of what's happening around the third movie is also ridiculous.

First issue
A family friendly land based on the the subject matter taken in today's context will not fly in the #Metoo generation. They can't make it a big focus.
Phantom: Dude is so obssessed with one girl, he drugs other girl to get girl job, and then kidnaps her.
Bride of Frankenstein: Monster gets mad after girl rejects him and blows up the building
Dracula: Dude slips into multiple girls room while they sleep and Bites them.
Mummy: Dude sees girl that reminds him of his previous girl and then tries to mummify her and force her to marry him so they can be together.
You see the negative press issues arise from family groups and SJW. Creature, Invisible Man, Wolfman are all decent enough to not being taken in a negative light as they aren't problematic.

2nd Issue:
Universal themselves over the past 20 years have been working on creating a new monster universe and failed repeatedly. If they can't get a film right, how do you expect them to get a land right that actually has to fit canon into the story.

3rd Issue:
Universal isn't Disney where monsters make people laugh. Monsters are scary. It seems they aren't going to do scary and more action/adventure. It goes against the original films which were about tragic situations and stories.

Wow I usually agree with a lot of your posts but this one I completely disagree. The Me too movement has no correlation with a theme park land or ride like really ? Also the Classic Monsters area doesn’t have to be super scary just ominous enough to immerse guest.

And Snidely and Bluto are completely objectifying Nell and Olive respectively.

See, I figure the way they act was why they’re called monsters.

Really Frankenstein’s monster was the only one who wasn’t all that bad. He just got a bad rap.

If there is a Classic Monsters land, what would you all say about a single dark ride starring ALL the Classic Monsters.. like a dark ride version of Universal Hollywood's old House of Horrors? I always assumed that would be the Monsters ride, if it ever happened at Universal..

I often thought Mummy could get a re-do where each scene was a different Monster's world, and Dracula was the main antagonist

Technically they are all from the same 'world' so we could combine all of them into one thing

I also want a dark tavern with a dark swing show that plays every hour

I would replace Dracula and have The Phantom, but yeah. While I would love a pure blooded Monsters area, I would love to see Mummy get rethemed to be a showcase of the classic monsters, with Phantom unleashing The Creature, Dracula, The Mummy, and The Wolfman as guests escape the revenge that the Phantom desires for his torment.

Good thought...I picked Drac because he's supposed to be the cunning and smart one, able to come up with plan

The queue could be a New York library that functions as a secret 'Monster Hunters' headquarters

I would pick Drac, but considering the historical importance of Phantom and how he was the one to kick start it all; that he would probably get the top billing. Either way, I'd imagine him being apart of the main group to come in if they were.

Dracula would get top billing, as he’s traditionally the “scariest.” The Phantom has been too romanticized in the zeitgeist.

I’ve said it a thousand times in this thread already, but a modern take on a haunted house ride that takes place in Dracula’s Castle and features all of the classic Universal monsters could be an instant new classic.

The first few scenes introduce the characters in the most iconic ways possible, “it’s alive” Frankenstein animation scene, Dracula rising from his coffin, Wolfman transformation under a full moon, mummy exiting his sarcophagus, and so on. Then have them interact with us and each other for the remainder of the ride.

I would be shocked if they didn't do Dark Universe. They have movies already lined up to connect them all, with the Mummy kicking it all off. It would be a great platform to showcase what's to come, reintroduce what put Universal on the map to begin with, and make it relevant now.

There is a lot of potential there and Horror/Villans right now is a hot ticket. Look how Disney has started to celebrate their villains.

If the Dark Universe was a success we would have gotten HHN mazes, Mummy would be closed and redone, and the Horror Make-Up Show would have gotten a new script.

If Universal were to create a "Classic Monsters" land, I hope it's not the Dark Universe.
