JW isn’t a hotel IP. Only a few IPs need or can handle a single hotel design that’s worth it.

Conflict and drama are at the heart of so many IPs, especially Jurassic. That makes for great rides, but it’s not what most people want from a hotel. We’ll see what happens with Star Wars, but it sounds exhausting to me

I agree with a straight up immersive IP experience hotel. I'm pretty sure we will get a family suites hotel slathered in cute IP characters though.

Yea, I meant the "Single IP" hotels. Personally, as someone who loves SW, the SW hotel sounds like a freaking torture device.

Personally I don't consider things like AoA an "IP" hotel. They're motels with some IP decorations

I don't think it would ever happen at Uni, but I have always wanted to do an attraction or area to do with "THE GOONIES" I have several friends and they have children around 5 years old who love the movie. I could believe if it ever happened that would be a great addition, but thats just me. I watch it anytime its on tv or when nothing is on, and see so many ideas for it.

Here's what I'd learning towards, or maybe just wishful thinking:

1. Steampunk (Entry)
2. SNW(Mario, Donky Kong, Yoshi, Kirby)
3. Classic Monsters / Dark Universe (Castle, Swamp, Forest)
4. DreamWorks (Berk, Far Far Away, Trolls)
5. Sci-Fi (Terminator, War of the Worlds, Waterworld, Back to the Future)
6. Middle Earth(Phase 2) (Shire, Mordor, Rivendell)
7. Oz (Honorable Mention) (Munchkin Land, Emerald City, Wicked West)

I think the concept can work but it has to be a gigantic IP and there are very few about. Star Wars I think will be a success with guests staying for a couple of days before moving to a normal more reasonably priced hotel.

I think Universal could make a Harry Potter, Nintendo and Dreamworks hotel to success. I think the ship has sailed on the HP hotel because everybody would want to stay in Hogwarts and there can only be one castle. Nintendo and Dreamworks would be more like Art of Animation which I think is a ridiculously crappy hotel from what I can see but it's highly rated and seems to command a high price :shrug:

I think the Nickelodeon Hotel and Resort in Punta Cana is a good example of how to do it right with an IP...Design that ties into IP, but isn't wacky

I think my hotel room is the last place I want to be immersed in something, I just want to go to sleep haha...Save it for the parks

For me, the idea that you HAVE to stay inside the resort for the time you stay there just is not desirable.

A hotel tied to an IP would only work if it were to actually exists in that "universe" and not necessarily be themed with a character's face on a wall or even the IP's name for that matter other than the name of the hotel. SW Hotel will work cause you're in that world. Its distinctively SW but it doesn't have to be labeled as such. If that makes any sense.

Disney has clearly mastered the art of trapping people in places so they spend more money...I think it will go through a hellish adjustment phase where Disney finds out people like the projection stuff but want to go outside haha

I think the success of SW:GE will be directly proportional to the hotel. There's going to be a ton of tie ins between the two, some of which could be a modified FP system that gives you priority over anybody not staying in the hotel.

I see this concept of a hotel being more like a cruise than anything else on offer.

For anything that Universal could do, I think it will just be an ultra themed hotel with a few extra relevant activities.

But a cruise ship, ya know, lets you go outside. There's such a finite number of people willing to spend the money and the time on the concept. I just don't see it lasting a long time in its opening setup. It's aimed at such a niche customer base.

You can still leave the hotel I assume unless they're theming it to Jabba's prison (metal bikini optional)

I'm with you, I can't see it lasting more a few years before the novelty wears off and anybody who wants to stay or can afford to stay have got their fill. Then it will be time for massive price drops.

Unless rumors have changed from the last time I checked in with the SW hotel, no you can't. You're on a spaceship to the SW land and it's a 2 day voyage where you're LARPing in the hotel and can't leave to go elsewhere.
