Think of the park they could build with all the money saved if they don't acquire Fox.

I'm looking forward to a park full of rides that I haven't ridden a hundred times already. :)

Flat rides give kids more riding options that don't involve the long wait. They are low in cost so they can add to the ride count without taking away from the big rides.. More rides means shorter lines.

One of the things that always stands out in my mind about IOA is the themed music of the lands. Hopefully the new park will have the same quality of music.

Yes. A brand new park, with all new rides, shows, attractions, restaurants, and a completely different look. I'm not going to quibble over details & stuff. It's going to be an awesome experience that I'm really looking forward to.

Same but purely because Disney buying Fox seems like a step back for the parks. I don't particularly care about anything else.

I think Marvel is best left to Marvel. Dead pool being the only exception.

Perhaps we should move this to the Fox merge thread

I hope Universal does not give us a minimally themed, bare bones coaster with supports all shown, we need better theming than that. Unless this was inside or traveling on top of a mountain, I would not be okay with it.

250 foot coaster. Inside. :oO:

That's not to say the coaster can't be themed, but it wouldn't be on a mountain. Have some incredible landscaping around it (maybe a rock tower where the supports for the raven are) and keep it away from guest pathways. There's even a tunnel on the ride, and a water section. I'm sure more can be added.

I know it would be hard to fit inside :) but, still don't agree, even with some theming, sorry.

Phantasialand is a little different, I still think Universal could do better. :)

Okay, what if the coaster wasn't as compact? Energylandia had to make the coaster compact due to lack of space. Spread the coaster out, and you can fit a lot of theming in there, plus some extra elements.

Doesn't matter if it's compact or not, I believe if you can see the majority of the bare bone supports, it's not worthy of being in a Universal/Disney park. Now, there are exceptions to that, for example, Slinky Dog Dash, but they literally themed it to be a make your own roller coaster toy set so it works. Also, the new harry potter coaster will be mostly low to the ground and supposedly be hidden with many trees, eliminating the sight of supports for most if not all the ride. The thing i'm trying to get with these supports, is that it completely destroys the immersion. And don't get me wrong, I love me a big rollercoaster, but i would prefer Universal/Disney to stay with more immersive ones and let the more coaster oriented parks (which are not on the same level of theming) such as the Busch Gardens and Cedar Fairs, have the un-themed ones. However, if Universal can pull off theming like i've described on a coaster similar to Hyperion, than kudos to them!

P.S. Although I do think Hulk is a good ride, the theming other than the initial launch is poor. And don't get me started on Pteradon Flyers and Rip Ride Rockit.

I think site lines can be manipulated so that you see the coaster when Universal wants you to see it...I also think coasters are attractors

On it's own, perhaps not...but I wouldn't mind if they did that indoors as a part of a Cirque resort, mind you.
