I would think that anything going into the new park initially already has it's IP rights secured. Planning is probably at the final stages. If I remember correctly, I don't believe Universal even has the theme park rights for FB yet, unless it's something that hasn't been made public.

I would rather have a FB dark ride inside Newts suitcase than more standard HP in the new park. Nothing really outside of MOM which belongs in USF would get me super excited.

Just a thought: What if they did Azkaban, but it takes place inside the FB universe? We still don’t know what will happen in the film series. For all we know, FB3 could be based on Azkaban.

In my opinion, we will only see Harry Potter in the two existing parks. If it is Fantastic Beasts (the first movie) we will see it take over New York in Universal Studios. If the locations are in the UK we will not see them in the new park. So basically we may see something with Paris in the new park. But I think Paris would be better suited if they added it to Studios being that most of the places there are famous cities and Paris the only one they haven't touched. If Fantastic Beasts happens we could see Mummy turned into a Macusa dark ride, featuring newts suitcase in some form. Also, we could see the restaurants in the area get a retheme to locations from the film. Paris could easily take over MIB with a ride or two based around that. Do I think any of this will happen probably not, at least until all the movies are out. I think Ministry of Magic at Fear Factor is going to be one of the last Potter related things in Universal. Maybe an update to things as the years go on. Like new wands, new wand locations, shows, and food items.

If they would've done Fantastic Beasts, then why in the seven plains would they want to replace Twister with something like The Tonight Show?

The London we see in USF, is the Harry Potter's London. And I would be damned if they can get away with the prospect of a Fantastic Beasts New York, right next to an already existing New York land.

I think the only thing you'd see added for the north, is the Ministry of Magic, and that, they would try to keep it close to the timeline's of when Gringott's and the Diagon Alley "land" exists.

I think, if they do Fantastic Beasts, it'd probably be with the new land, and that it'd be "Fantastic Beasts _Fill City Here_" and not "_Fill City Here, and have FB isolated_".

I’m really hoping they do a Paris-themed land if they do FB. We haven’t seen Universal attempt to do any lands based on foreign-countries, and, if done right, the land could be better than the version currently found at EPCOT.

Also, calling it now. Madagascar gets a family-friendly rapids ride in the new park, as a way to upstage Infinity Falls.

My dilemma, is this when it comes to that. And I don't think it's a bad idea. Hell, Singapore had an element of Madagascar that would've worked with LSMs, but due to difficulty, we saw that attraction go through development hell.

It's more, why would they want to compete with something that'd be dated by the time the new gate opens up? I do think if Madagascar gets a presence, it'll be much better than the Singapore attraction, but I don't think we should be expecting them to one up Seaworld of all places.

Well, if we don’t get LOTR, that leaves the park with no major water-ride IP’s, and this park has to get a couple somehow. Madagascar is probably their best option (I also think that Classic Monsters could fit, but that’s for another blue-sky I’m working on).

Shrek doesn’t translate well into a water-ride, KFP and HTTYD will get one ride each, and they’re not going to get a water-ride by itself. If Trolls comes, it’ll get a slow boat ride (I don’t count that as a water-ride), same for Sanrio. SNW will already have four rides at this point. Pokémon won’t get a water-ride. Potter won’t get a water-ride. So, what else do you have to use?

Also, it looks like Infinity Falls could set a new standard for rapids rides. It’s not about SeaWorld, it’s about the ride they made.

They already have a better family friend rapids ride called Bluto Barges....the only thing "next level" is the lift but that's not even unique as other parks are already getting into it as well.

As for water ride IPs,

You are extremely wrong and there is no way with the exception of an combined land like Dreamworks Plaza or Super Nintendo World where any IP I forsee going to the 4th park sustaining a land will only get one attraction. That's the biggest issue USF is having. They can't expand any of their IPs they own into a land because they thought doing a ride would be enough and now face limitations for nearly everything. Can't add Super Silly Funland without getting rid of blah blah blah. Can't add more Dreamworks without getting rid of something. Any dreamworks IP would support a water ride in particular How to Train Your Dragon (not all dragons are confined to just land and air).

Japan and arguably China concept pieces that were leaked both showed much more expansive areas at the time they were shown to others. Minionsland Japan is now getting attractions added to it because they underestimated the demand.....there are certain issues Universal doesn't want to face again like they did with a certain park so I think they will overcompensate than under.

I think this is one of the most interesting things about the new resort. I'd love to see a new Shrek and Despicable Me ride in the new park, I think the IPs are solid and deserve far more than a basic theatre attraction.

On the flip side, if this allows USF to remove Shrek and DM, then they've just gained a huge amount of land back in the prime area of the park and could result in a complete renovation of the park entrance.

Here’s the thing about that: this park can only have a certain amount of rides. This one will probably have 16-20, and that’s only rides. We’re not even talking about the shows and countless interactive areas that this park is going to get. You have to have lands with only one major-attraction if you want to have more than five.

Given, I only see Fantastic Beasts/Azkaban as a land with one ride, but that’s besides the point.

If this park only has 16 rides it’ll be a huge disappointment

Seriously? I say we have over 20 rides and get told it’s too much. Then I say we have 16 rides and get told it’s a disappointment. What’s the perfect number here?

Magic Kingdom has almost 30 rides. If this park, which should be the biggest Universal has, doesn't have that much, I think it'll be a huge disappointment.

Magic Kingdom has also been around for decades, and some of their rides aren’t exactly the definition of quality.

Its all depends on the size of the park and certain other aspects...Universal Beijing is at 300 acres with the same number of rides plus more than UOR and IOA combined (allegedly). Is Universal planning to make this a flagship park or what? Are they planning to introduce virtual line to the entire park? Are they planning Queueless lines for all the attractions. If this is the flagship park and they use virtual line, it would need to be at least 30+ rides (Not everything is required to be an E-ticket) to increase capacity otherwise you face Volcano Bay issues.

A lot of people have stated no way will these park be 300 acres so with that we can take that away but it doesn't mean capacity has to go down. Its all in how they build the park.

The length the park has been around is irrelevant. I disagree that MK's offerings aren't largely quality attractions, but I'd even argue that is irrelevant. If you're building a giant, brand new theme park, it better offer people a breadth of options

Universal wants to compete with MK. I think it's just about guaranteed that this park will have a significant number of rides/shows, probably in the vicinity of what's at MK, minus all the kiddie/teenager flat rides & M&G's MK has and counts as attractions.

No way that this park has over 30 rides (it’ll have 30 attractions, just not rides). Rides aren’t the only thing they’re building here. We’re looking at having 10+ interactive play areas/attractions, five shows, multiple meet and greets. 20-24 rides isn’t that bad.

Also, Beijing is getting a lot of clones and copies. We might not see any here. 95% of the rides will be brand new, and 50% of them should be state-of-the-art.
