My hopes:
- 2 thrill oasters similar to Everest. I don't want a coaster like Hulk unless they hyper theme it.
- Gringotts with more coaster portions
- Some type of mine train for the entire family like BTMR

I like those ideas and can definitely see them at the new park. What would the Everest inspired coasters be themed to ?

If I had to guess, probably something like Classic Monsters or Shrek.

Coaster-wise? Sure. But that track-jumping element adds a huge thrill, something that has never been seen before.

Sure, but I think thrill wise it'll still be on the lower end.

If a new Dreamworks area is being built I think Far Far Away land with a Shriek coaster would be awesome. Maybe based on the first movie where they have to escape the dragon while rescuing the princess.

I don't see a Shrek coaster at all. If a DW property gets a coaster it'd probably be Dragons.

Original land. If Universal plans to add some sort of central mountain icon that separates each land, it could be home to the coaster. Something has to be inside the mountain and the park's most thrilling attraction should be located within it. Classic Monsters (not happening, if it does its a surprise to me) also lends itself to a coaster with it going in and out of a castle. Kung Fu Panda can also provide a story for it, but probably not.

An original story can always fit a coaster. A coaster is a coaster, they will always be popular. Name me one coaster that has failed inside a Disney/Universal park.

As for the thrill coaster, I still have a feeling that we’ll see Flying Dinosaur somehow. I know this forum hates the idea, but it’s simply to easy of a choice for Universal: It’s a clone, it’s cheap, it fits perfectly, and it’s one of the highest-rated coasters in the world.

If it’s not, a wing or inverted coaster could work as well.

I'm gonna need to see your work on that one.

I think the chance of a big, obvious coaster like FD won't happen. If there is an "Unthemed" one, it will be a terrain hugger.

Dueling Dragons was around for almost 20 years. That's one hell of a definition for "failure".

Only reason I bash on the idea of such a coaster at Universal park is because they are a pain in sight lines and immersion. Bothers me when you go on rides like Mummy and Gringotts with great storytelling and all, then you see RockIt making no sense thematically. (I'm a fan of RockIt from a coaster fan perspective, but not a theme park fan). If they make it fit like Hulk, I'll let it pass.

Dueling Dragons did not fail. It lasted 17 years, that's not a fail.

Uhhh, what terrain? You do know that we live in Florida, right? ;)

It didn’t duel for how long, exactly? How many incidents did it have? What about the lines? I never saw many people in the queue.

I think it really depends on what comes to the new park. If it’s slanted more younger and classic monsters doesn’t come then I don’t see any large steel high speed coaster. Dragons shouldn’t receive anything like that due to age group it’s geared towards. Nintendo is getting DK. No other Dreamworks IP fits one. Monsters are gear more toward older so could go there. Maybe if Jurassic World goes there.

Look at DAK. You make terrain.

You're talking about incidents and yet you want to build Flying Dinosaur? lol

The queue was a victim of its own length. There was rarely a long line because it took people forever to get to the front and the ride was a people eater. Dragons still put through an impressive amount of people through every day.

I think that Universal could definitely make Flying Dinosaur work. Everyone on here assumes that it has to be exactly like USJ’s version, but that’s not true. They can add quite the amount of theming, especially now that they have space.

Yeah I think that is valid point as what this park is being more geared towards. But I think one thrill coaster will come just for the sake of trying to appeal to a larger audience.

Even Magic Kingdom will have a thrill coaster in a couple of years.

The parks here in Florida make terrain. New HP coaster will be an example.

Dragon Challenge WAS popular... it had high capacity, which leads to lower wait times. If it only had one track, they could still manage wait times because of the separate unload/load.

Which is fine, but I think that’s highly overrated. Having one big coaster isn’t bringing in that many more people than having a better themed Potter like coaster to fit a little shorter of a height requirement.

I mean, thrill coaster compared to what MK has. Not sure I'd classify TRON as anything other than a family coaster

I’ve ridden it multiple times, but I never saw it with a full train. You can’t blame that on the capacity or queue.
