Pokémon isn’t a Nintendo franchise, or it isn’t made by Nintendo themselves at least.

They own a good portion of it and Pokémon sells their systems of which they get 100% of profits. They also own all the necessary legal stuff that prevents The Pokémon Company from taking the franchise to a competitor.

I’m hyped to death for Prime 4 (FINALLY!!!!!!!) but I’d say Smash and next year’s Pokémon have way more hype behind them.

It’s been 10 years since prime 3 roughly. Even them mention of prime 4 gives gamers a boner.

Universal can forget naming the new gate . just like how potter made studios Potter world to the mass general public. Nintendo land is what the new gate will be.

Metroid is one of the three big ips Nintendo makes most of its money with. Mario Zelda Metroid. Every Nintendo game system it is required/expected to get a new game of each. Without those Nintendo would be bankrupt.

This was meant as a joke right? I mean MARIO, yes. Zelda, yes. Metroid, huh. What is the highest selling game in the franchise like 2.5 million units and the entire series not even 8 million.

Edit
Just for clarification the new MARIO Odyssey for switch is nearing 12 million units and Zelda Breath of the Wild nearing 10.5 million. The Metroid series doesn’t even compare to one game from either(and they are the latest installments let’s not even get into past games)

Not a Pokémon not a Zelda level hit but still a major franchise. Games are 50-60 bucks a pop.

Hate to tell you, but Metroid isn't even the top ten of total Nintendo franchise sales... It's 14th.

Yeah the most a single Metroid has sold is 2.8 million which is super low. It’s just not a mainstream game.

Well I hate to tell you that that the last Metroid game made was prime 3 in 07. Kinda like how the incredibles was a hit for Disney after being 10 years without any love. I’m not counting handhelds . That’s probably why they are 14 now.

Sorry I was looking at Metroid Prime the entire Metroid series since the first in what 1986 have actually cleared 17 million. So in 32 years it has done this isn’t saying much. I get you like Metroid but the vast majority of the public doesn’t even know about it. It’s just not the major IP you thinks it is.

Metroid shouldn’t get a presence in the new park at all, as far as I’m concerned. There are a lot of other IP’s which deserve to be in there instead (Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Splatoon, Luigi’s Mansion, Kirby, separate Mario games like Odyssey, Galaxy, and Sunshine).

It's 14th based on the franchise's entire lifespan - 13 games. The average total sold per game is 1.3m. By comparison, Splatoon averages 5.47m copies per game.

Metroid wouldn't be a money-maker the way a few other franchises would be.

. So I love you include Luigi’s mansion and if there is no Luigi’s mansion in universal I will be devistated. But there has only been 2 Luigi’s mansion games. And One was on handheld.Metroid has probably 5 legit console games. And 3-4 handhelds. I personally don’t really care for Metroid. But It’s well known fact metroid is one of the three big franchises for Nintendo.Pokémon I hope never goes in universal but it’s a nessessary evil. Pokémon hhn 29 id be terrified!!!! Barney and woody with Pokémon. Holy crap that’s a scary house. That is a quality idea for a original. Your welcome

That’s actually not as bad as I thought.

Which is fine. Something a lot of people don’t get is that not everything has to make all the money in the world. Metroid is important for diversifying Nintendo’s first party lineup and the fans it does have are very passionate. Hopefully with Prime 4 the trend of games far exceeding past sales expectations on Switch continues though so we can get more. It would be smart for them to rerelease the Trilogy beforehand though.

I do want to point out that its really hard to dictate popularity nowadays solely on game sales for a system....and it totally is lacking in demographic information.

Fire Emblem flops on Nintendo Systems yet for phone apps, its Nintendo's number 1 App game making them over 20 million every month (Variety) and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is extremely popular with adult women whereas the other Nintendo apps are not (Nintendo Earnings Report).

Nintendo went into this deal to INCREASE the scope, visibility, and opportunities for their company. Why do you think the initial concept and pitch had so many different IPs represented on there? I'm not saying everything should get a huge E-ticket but you kinda don't help your flop IPs by not having them present in a way that has the potential to boost revenue. People are already buying Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon. Use those are big attractions to get them in the park and use the other IPs as smaller attractions/cafes so they at least get people awareness there. They aren't buying your other stuff which is why it should have some form of a really good attraction in the park so its on the forefront of people's minds later on.

Just for giggles....Nintendo has an issue with games across all systems. Simply look at the top titles across the board for all the systems. Its mostly just Mario that can sell a system with Pokémon and Animal Crossing being the only two consistent non Mario based IPs to move handheld systems and Splatoon and Zelda being the only ones that managed to break onto the scene for the docked systems.

That’s pretty unlikely as I’m sure they’re set on just having Mario Kart. It’s extremely popular and can show off pretty much the exact same aesthetic. Plus the ride vehicle choice is very easy.

To the first bit you wouldn’t even want a simple walk around Samus? That’s pretty extreme.

I think the Fire Emblem success has to do with the fact it’s similar to other games that are already big on mobile. Also, I thought Fire Emblem has gotten bigger with the 3DS games that saved the series pretty much? Either way I hope you’re right so we get *something* for Metroid. I could see a small area unique to Site B dedicated to lesser known franchises. I think Japan and Hollywood will just have Mario for the most part.

Wii series is third best selling franchise so prepare yourself for the Universal Studios Wii Fit Yoga Studio and hourly Wii Music musical performances! And and maybe a make your own Mii amibo shop (ala the cast yourself in carbonite statues at Disneyland) which would actually be pretty neat.

Yes Nintendo wants to get things out of this agreement, but it’s still Universal’s Park. Not letting a low tier IP take up space for something that could draw crowds.
