Yes- and I believe they are getting pretty darned close to capacity at the parks. Another ~4 years of growth with a potter expansion in between and at least 3 more hotels- 2 of which are massive.

I think Nintendo is what will make Universal a more expensive park and they'll have higher spend per guest. I just don't believe it's going to be this "I have to schedule a trip to Orlando to see Nintendo" exodus like some on here are thinking.

I see where you are coming from, I just think Nintendo has such brand recognition that it is inevitably going to cause some kind of attendance jump

Pandora doesn't seem to bring people in as much as was anticipated based on price cuts and discounts despite huge positive reviews while VB with negative reviews still is hitting capacity, Fallon which we thought would be lame and not attendance driver is being loved by the populace and Kong doesn't being a plussed clone from Hollywood still is liked.

Right now, Geek is in. Comics, video games, superheroes, sci-fi, animation, and horror are all blooming and mainly the fandoms are fighting over which one should be the most popular. I think Nintendo will do the best and the best choice. If a theme park adds those, people will come.

Yes, the general public has a pretty good handle on what they like. I think fun & entertainment in an attraction outweighs all the tech, story etc. that theme park fandom weighs so heavily when judging an attraction.

The one thing I can't agree with here is what you wrote regarding Pandora. WDW does discounts and stuff every year, but what have they discounted or cut prices from that is DIRECTLY RELATED to Pandora? Absolutely nothing. They're still having to cut off the FoP line well before the park closes and banshee prices got a price increase and are still selling out.

Just because you like Uni doesn't mean you always have to bash Disney, too. It seems you are always trying to sneak little digs in for no apparent reason.

The topic was the opinion that Nintendo wouldn't be an attendance gainer. What were the last attendance gaining attractions at Disney/Universal? Disney was Pandora which was raved about constantly. Universal was VB/Fallon/Kong. We though Fallon was stupid and wouldn't bring people to the park. VB got terrible reviews. Kong had people slightly let down. Now...well according to the attendance decline thread Disney isn't seeing much an attendance gain. VB is hitting capacity and Fallon is very popular and well liked. In other words, we don't know the General Public and how they will respond. If you want to talk and say that is bashing Disney then I don't know what else to say.

I completely disagree. This is getting massive traction in areas I rarely see theme park talk. This is Potter level large.

Also I think you don't know the actual amount of people who go to USJ, it's massive.

I think you're reaching for some conclusions here. All those additions you listed are just as popular as many thought they'd be, with the only one not matching expectations is WDW and Pandora.

What's your point for this sentence?

I'm aware of USJ's attendence boom and Tokyo Disney/Disney Seas subsequent drop. I also think it's nothing compared to the crowds Nintebdo will bring to USJ. It'll be like nothing we've seen anywhere at any park ever. Except SWL. But I also believe UOR's reception wont be near the insanity that will be at USJ

Okay I read may pages, curious. Before I jump in, does anyone have any concrete speculation of a fourth park even rumored? Or is this thread purely ideas of ours to just spitball? Curious. Entertaining thread I must say.

But I don't believe it will be an attendance booster domestically (namely, Orlando).

Disagree with @Andysol, agree with the others. We're theme park nuts and my friends aren't. I always try to get them to come to the parks with me but just about the only time I get them to come is for HHN. Now, I've had lots of friends not only send me/post on my FB articles about Nintendo coming to Universal (they like to think they hear about things before I do, never the case because of you good folk), but most of them have said they'll come to Universal just for Nintendo, and 3 of my friends have promised to buy annual passes because of Nintendo. Like @Joe said, these are people who rarely talk about this stuff but when a Nintendo park jumped into their gaming boards, they came to me about it. Obviously this isn't a significant sampling of people nor statistically accurate, but it got my attention.

Nothing will ever match what WWoHP did for UOR attendance, but I think Nintendo combined with a new park announcement and Disney's announcements could lead to sustained attendance gains at both operators' theme parks.

There's a definite uptick among family/friends in interest in Orlando travel and that keeps increasing as the parks build more.

But given that attendance is so high now, most of the value gained will probably come from higher prices after a certain point.

That's also why it'd make sense for Universal to plan out a whole second resort over a multi-decade time frame.

Unlike Vivendi or GE, Comcast has the financial capacity and focus to actually plan and execute a multi-decade plan for a 2nd resort in Orlando.

Since it was asked -

This thread is more spitballing, fantasy type sharing - hence the "Blue Sky" title. Nothing discussed here should really be taken as rumor.

This thread however:
Universal Resort Expansion? | Page 210 | Inside Universal Forums

That's where more concrete stuff should be discussed.

Lets take this discussion to what it was before. What is your ideal 3rd gate? What is your ideal second resort?

Good questions:

For me, an ideal 2nd resort is probably something a bit larger than the first resort that would be built over a 20-30 year time frame.

Probably like two 150-180 acre theme parks + water park + 8-10 hotels built in something like 3 phases every 5-10 years. Of course, that depends on land availability and all those other complex questions. (FWIW, I think economically Orlando can support that if built on the right timeline and with the right IP).

Though maybe we should keep discussion of that 2nd question in the other thread.

I know it's been discussed somewhere on this forum but I must revisit this topic. Is there any conceivable way Universal can obtain the rights to Game Of Thrones?? I visit many countries due to my work. This show is universally (no pun intended) loved by so many here and abroad. It's still relevant and ultra popular. Imagine visiting "The Wall", defeating White Walkers or riding a dragon a la FOP. This could anchor the 4th Gate. I know I'm dreaming but hey you never know!

I feel like GoT might work in Vegas hotel/theme park. But not an Orlando park. Ya know. Cause it's not TV, it's HBO.

(In other words it's filled with nudity sex and violence to a degree that there's no Orlando park that would touch it with a ten foot pole.)

Yeah and and if I can't walk into South Park and get some of Scott Tenorman's parents chili and some of Chef's Chocolate salty balls, I'm not going to feel complete.
