Crews have begun installing Internal road signs at Universal Kids Resort. The second pic includes the TollTag logo. Guests who use that service (and most everyone in North Texas does) will breeze through. That's great news for lines.

Massive poles for integrated shade structures have arrived at Universal Kids Resort. We think these will be used in several spots inside the park.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it go to Philadelphia with the Epic model for the exhibit.

That makes a lot of sense for the exhibit. But they'll sell a gajillion tickets if they park that model in the middle of Frisco's Stonebriar Mall.

Or it never goes anywhere! The epic model being public is a rare exception.

Sure! But the entire UKR concept is also a rare exception, so I'm hoping they put it on a truck and drive west.

I wonder if the winter storm and freezing temps will delay the opening. Can’t imagine them forcing people to work in freezing temperatures, with materials covered in ice. Especially considering that the metroplex pretty much shuts down completely, with only essential workers commuting. Work could be done inside the buildings, but not if they can’t get to them.

How close are you to this place? I wouldn’t’ve driven in that. They already closed schools yesterday for the following Monday. Some districts even closed Monday before the storm even hit Friday!

Construction timelines always factor in inclement weather, so I doubt this moves the needle on the opening. But I guess we'll never know since Universal hasn't said when that is. I'm hoping for May 22, which is the last day of school in Frisco, the one-year anniversary of Epic, and the opening day of The Mandalorian and Grogu, both in theaters and in Galaxy's Edge. Seems too perfect.

We should be above freezing by Tuesday, so it looks like outdoor crews will lose 2-3 days. We'll still be below 30 at night for a while, so it won't be a fun job this week.

I'm a couple of miles away. I did my due diligence before driving over. The ground temps were still warm enough that the ice wasn't a factor. I didn't lose traction. Surprisingly, everyone on the road acted like pros. That's rare in Texas!

I won't be driving over today, however. We had freezing rain much of the night, so there's a hard shell on the streets. Photos would be better today, though. The sun is peeking through the clouds.

So 2-3 days, like you said, I had a doctors appointment today, but yesterday they already decided to reschedule everyone for Thursday. They could delay opening of schools Wednesday, but it still won’t be safe enough for busses to run for a 10am opening, as it still will be below freezing before 10. That means that whatever ends up melting mid day will just freeze over again for Thursday morning. Midday Thursday should melt whatever’s left, but we’ll see.

This thaw isn't going as planned! I took my son to work (he didn't want to leave his car in the parking lot with the way locals drive in the snow), so I swung by UKR on the way home. It's beautifully quiet today. Roads are drivable, but only if you understand the laws of physics. Most Texans do not.
