I wouldn’t expect the first rotation to come in the first two years. And then, most likely, one a year after that.

Could be wishful thinking, but especially with Meow Wolf pretty much right next door, a slower paced rotation like this makes me curious to see if the houses land closer in detail to permanent attractions than what we're used to, since they'll likely need to be built to last.

One thing that would be really nice about this once it opens up for a while... I really doubt you'll get that "conga line" experience we accept year after year. I'd hope you'd actually get a much more isolated experience.

I'm also curious how they'll manage the scareactors. I did Ghastly Manor in Sandusky, and not only did we get a very cool isolated experience, but after the fact we talked to the staff, and they said there was only 1-2 actors in the entire maze... they just move around to various locations for repeated scares (which were surprisingly effective for such a low staff)

Mortem Manor is Kissimmee does/did something similar, to surprisingly decent effect. (Then staffed up a bit for Halloween season.)

I think a house will be replaced when attendance is dwindling down. If a house is super popular year after year it'll stay. It's an easy business model. I expect simple AA effects for monsters could reduce staff.
All in all this is an interesting experiment for Universal just like Universal Kids.

I was just going to say this lol.. although, it was still "The Haunting at Old Town" when I last did it 300 years ago. Glad it was revamped again & still going strong.

I think the exorcist is one of the most recognizable and popular horror films out there. It is timeless and lots over rendentions, to me, stemmed from it. I have always enjoyed each rendition of it a HHN orlando (not so much at hollywood with those black walls lol) so I can see how it can be a good choice for a starting line up.

Great point. Fright Walk at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk doesn't have any live actors at all (at least, not the last time I did it), nor did Frankenstein's Castle at Indiana Beach, and they were still relatively pretty good. Again, isolation helps, because you can't see the animatronics coming.

The building is massive! Each maze/house should be elaborate and long.

Off topic, but Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Fright Walk is absolutely terrifying. Genuinely scared me more than any Horror Nights house just due to the isolation and feeling of being alone down there with only animatronics. Great use of space and a creative way to create dread.

The article also mentioned that Horror Unleashed will have rides. I wonder if it’s accurate or if they’re going to have a carousel or something.

Jokes on us... the entire experience is one long 4-house dark ride that exits into a bar, restaurant & giftshop! WOO!

I’ll be honest that I’m still really bearish on how this’ll do. I think it’ll have to heavily rely on tourists as locals are not really a reliable market to count on, compared to Orlando. Meow Wolf has done just fine in that department, but their potential market seems to be a bit more expansive than HHN’s.

I think it’ll likely live or die on labor. Four houses is a lot — that’s a lot of scare actors to keep employed, no? Saw (and It, I think) has done well because they really don’t need to employ too many people. Labor in Vegas isn’t as cheap as it is in Orlando, so I wonder how many people will Universal be paying in February when people aren’t really in an HHN mood? I’m sure they’ve crunched the numbers, but the allusion to this being an “Eisner-like” decision rings true to me.

Glad seeing this pop up. Had noticed it as I was talking to people on TPS. Personally speculating/guessing: I think we get the "Overview" announcement on Halloween night.

Given the nature of this experience differing from a seasonal basis that HHN leans in, and how they've had Epic Universe use Thursdays as a major promotional window for overviewing their lands--it would check the boxes.
